    waiting for my screening

Dr Reese and his staff- what a lovely and fun bunch! I went for an annual skin cancer screening and it went so smoothly. Everyone was so accommodating.

1 week after removal - blister popped and skin fell off.

$20. All cosmetic procedures provided by experienced MD's, NP's to provide a light natural appearing result.

Does your clinic offer micro needling services for acne scar removal? How much money?? If not, what about laser treatments appropriate for people with melanated/black skin complexions.

We provide microneedling which is typically safe for all skin types. Call our staff to book a consultation. 415 393-9550.

    I'm looking for scar removal?

If the scar is red, we feature the Vbeam Perfecta laser for safe and effective improvement. We also provide cortisone injections to reduce the size and itch of keloid scars.

Do you treat actinic keratosis on the lip and can you biopsy it with minimal scarring? Follow on- do you do Mohs procedure for the above?

We provide in-office and prescription treatments for actinic keratoses. If needed, lips tend to heal well after biopsy. We do not currently have an in-office Mohs surgeon, but can refer if necessary.

Do you remove / help with dark circles. If yes, what procedures do you offer?

There may laser and/or injected filler options that could address this issue. I recommend an in-office consultation with Jeannie Jhu, PA-C to evaluate your specific case.

I'm in my early 40's, aside from age related skin changes, my chicken-skin-like on my face won't leave me. My face always looks rough and dry. Do you recommend treatment for this and how much?

There may be medical conditions causing this issue. If we are in network with your insurance, the evaluation may be covered. Otherwise, our initial consultations run from $120 to $150.

Do you have mole removal? If yes then how much does it cost?

We provide facial and non-facial mole removal. Costs can vary though it is possible insurance may be used. Schedule an in person consultation as the first step. 415 393-9550.

I have been with Kaiser now for 3 years but the strange hypopigmentation I have on essentially non sun exposed parts of my body are continuing to multiply. Wondering about second opinion consult costs?

Our out of network consultation charges range from $120 to $150. That said, we are not experts regarding hypopigmentation.

Do the dermatologist here treat angular cheilitis or perioral dermatitis? And if so do they prescribe antibiotic. I ask because my current doctor have exhausted all topical treatment and I think it's time I find a doctor who will prescribe medication

When we first met, she showed…read moretremendous respect for my preferences for natural aging and has literally never suggested Botox or fillers. This is so uncommon with dermatologists these days and my check-ups with her are so easy and straightforward; I leave feeling good about myself and accepting of my age and appearance rather than feeling like I need to do more to keep up with society's standards. Aging should be celebrated; I am celebrating it. In addition to her respect for my values, we have been doing full-body scans for melanoma over the past 3 years. She is thorough and proactive, and is helping me to manage the effects of sun damage from my youth, when we tanned for fun and vanity. When a biopsy on my arm came back positive for melanoma, she called to speak to me directly, and then followed up with a very detailed email, and then referred me to the most excellent surgeon for the excision procedure. She was invested not only in taking care of the problem, but also in my personal experience--I was treated with sensitivity and compassion. I couldn't imagine seeing another dermatologist. (Her office is also very organized and the staff are kind and efficient.)

I went in to have a bump on my left nostril checked out as I had basal carcinoma in past. The doctor was late, and the office disorganized. Dr. Han came in, clearly rushed, and gestured toward my nose. She said, "Is this it?" I replied that I could look at it in a mirror to be sure, and she said she didn't need that - she knew the area to be biopsied and for me to sit back. Dr. Han then biopsied the nearly unnoticeable scar left by a former nose ring - not the lump indicated (which I later had removed without incident in Los Angeles) - worse, she biopsied this very visible area of my nose using an excision method which she incorrectly documented as a shave biopsy. I have pictures. These are not the same things. This excision left a fish-shaped hole which has still not closed properly. I will have this conspicuous and unsightly scar on my face for the rest of my life, and worse it seems to have impacted the structure of the nostril. If she was rushed, she should have just rescheduled me. When I called Dr. Han to ask for help with the scar, she took no responsibility on the call whatsoever. I had to pull up comparison photos of shave biopsy v. excision biopsy before she would even admit she had done the wrong one (which she finally admitted). It felt like having a conference call with a guilty teenager. Friends advised me to sue, and it turns out I'm not a litigious person. I would avoid this practice altogether. There is a very good derm in Mill Valley and I'm happy to share his information instead. Four years later, I still regret this 20 minute visit.

They are both recommended by another patient who wrote a critical Yelp review of Andrea Austin. I reached out to her through Yelp because she wrote that her doctor told her that half of his patients with neurogenic rosacea are a result of laser damage, and I suspected that it was my case as well.  Dr. Berger at UCSF confirmed that the dense tissue in my cheeks is facial edema caused by Vbeam (Mary Krempa did so many passes with a high setting meant for blood vessels next to my nose on my delicate cheeks; also, I don't think my skin could tolerate 6 Vbeam in such a short period of time). As a result, I now have neurogenic rosacea, which I never had before seeing Andrea Austin. I hardly had any rosacea symptoms even before I saw Andrea Austin (no flushing, no pain, or nothing really, just slight pinkness on my cheeks, never had to worry about the heat or coldness or whatever).   As I wrote in my previous review, I saw Andrea Austin three times after the botched Vbeam. She STILL recommended to continue Vbeam during the two appts AFTER the botched treatment, and recommended me a hydro facial after learning that I would not do any more laser at the 3rd last appt.  I saw seven other reputable dermatologists between June 2024 and December 2025 because I was determined to find out what had happened to my face. All of them acknowledged the dense tissue (diagnosed as facial edema by Dr. Berger, Dr. MacGregor --my current derm, and Dr. Lewis), and almost all of them are very sympathetic to me about what had happened to my cheeks, and they all warned me to be extremely careful with my skin.  I also reached out to Andrea Austin through the online portal after seeing a PR reply to my previous Yelp review last year, and she literally messaged me that what I have now is NOT a result of the laser under her care, and she suggested a different skin condition, which was flatly denied by Dr. Berger.  I decided to share my horrendous experience so that other people who have very sensitive skin will think twice before they choose to go BACD. Having pain and discomfort in my cheeks and not knowing what happened to my face destroyed my mental health. Even after 2 years, I can still pinch and move the dense tissue under my cheeks, which I never had before Andrea Austin. I ended up taking 2 months+ off from work, as I no longer could function due to the extreme anxiety and insomnia caused by the harm Andrea Austin and Mary Krempa inflicted on me. I never experienced insomnia or mental illnesses in my whole life until THIS. Dr. Berger told me that the nerve damage could last 7-10 years, and he told me that even he couldn't tell exactly when my skin would be back to normal. He told me the best is not to disturb the damaged nerves on my cheeks. So, please be very careful if you have laser treatment at BACD. Dr. Berger trained most of the current derms at UCSF, and he was even the interim chair of the dermatology dept at UCSF (there are 70+ derms there). He was extremely kind and knowledgeable, and took so much time to explain and answer all my questions. The experience was a stark contrast to Andrea Austin, who refused to take any responsibility for what they had done to my face. Both my current derm, Dr. MacGregor, and Dr. Lewis at Stanford highly think of Dr. Berger, and Dr. Lewis even suggested sending Dr. Berger's notes to Andrea.  I blindly trusted Andrea Austin based on my positive previous experience with Dr. Welsh, and I am paying a hefty price for the biggest mistake of my life. Andrea Austin is so sure of herself (if you see her, you will know what I mean), but what she did to me is BEYOND unethical and comprehensible. Had I continued to listen to her, she would have further destroyed and damaged my skin.  If you decide to go to Andrea Austin, you MUST keep in mind that you will never get any help from this practice when things go wrong, no matter what PR employees say.
