We are passing through this beautiful state of Virginia on a RV trip and my Yorkie developed what looked like an abscess on his right foot. We called Blue Mountain Vet on Monday late afternoon and explained that we are moving to another location on Wednesday and need our pet to be seen. The very professional and polite women graciously offered to see us before their normal operating hours at 6:45 AM the following morning. The staff and the vet were extremely caring and made me and my husband feel at ease. Prescriptions were prescribed with instructions of instructions of what we may need to do next if the condition doesn't start to improve. after 7 years of best vet hospital, docs, staff etc. I have to post this as constructive criticism, and hopefuly it is read. 1-. as in past made apt, , drove almost 2 hours to Luray from DC. I had mentioned dog had great fears, and I would stay outside until last minute when doc/staff ready. while checking in, I mentioned, my other dog had no appointment and if they could clean glands. if not no big deal. they said ok. I get oth4r dog, bring her in, and waiting . no one paid attention. I stood there with dog in arms, while other dog outside with wife shaking, since he grew afraid of hospitals after he was nuked as pup by other icompetent vet in different hosptital, (15 weeks barely, and they ambushed me not only with the :normal scheduled shot, but with the rabies. they f could not wait until pup was of decent age. blah blah, law says 16 weeks-bs. min 16 weeks. needless to say dog developed fear, thyroid, leading to obesity, and fear could lead to heart attack. I think I had conveyed this. in any case, 20-40 min waiting , dog run away, wife could not hold him. I got him back, vet took blood, all done. 40 min of dog shaking, ? no more blue mountain . took to another vet, same crap, no more of him. they are all usesless, rubber stampers, one size fits all. they dont use their brains, they suggest, more drugs to calm dog down. but had they paid attention in beginning, this would not be an issue. back to blue mt animal hospital, they dropped the ball big time, dog could have died, and certainly he had 40 terrifying minutes. read more

Horrible! My cat was ill and they treated my cat for heart disease. My cat actually had cancer. Long story short, they said to me "we suspected your cat had heart disease" with the "suspected" sounding so rehearsed. In other words, they weren't sure but they still treated my cat for heart disease anyway and so he didn't get any better. $6K later I find out after taking my cat to a cardiologist specialist that my cat actually has lymphoma. DO NOT GO HERE!! Obviously, they can't even read an x-ray and it was a complete waste of money and time. My cat could have been receiving the treatment he needed. Before I went to Emergency services in Verona and the specialist in Charlottesville, Dr. Pauly called me at home to check on my cat. I told her he was not doing well and I live two minutes away. I asked her if I could bring him by for her to look at him. She put me on hold for ten minutes and said "we are getting ready to leave, we will schedule him for Monday". Not helpful at all. THEY DO NOT CARE!!!! I will never go here again. I would drive to Charlottesville everyday from Luray before going back!! I ask you friends, if you love your pet, stay away!! read more

I've used this vet since I came to Luray 4 years ago, but no more. Today I took my dog in because she got bit badly by a groundhog, she had started acting way more anxious and jumpy (she's pretty spazzy normally but this was not normal) and had an infection set in on the wounds on her neck. They BARELY examined her, gave her antibiotics, and sent her home because they had not prepared an appointment over 10 minutes long, so couldn't do what needed to be done (sedation, shaving her, and cleaning the wounds). I drove my dog to Anacira where they saved her life. They used a sedative, not anesthesia, just to make her super sleepy and calm. She had an infection so bad it caused pressure to build into her skull putting pressure on her brain probably causing her to be more reactive (think of it as a really bad doggy headache). If I had listened to Blue Mountain's care my dog could very well have died from their inability to spend time actually solving her medical issue. read more

Dr. Clark is an amazing vet. We live about 45 minutes from BMAC, over the mountain toward DC and we still make the trip to Dr. Clark. In the last 10 years two of our dogs contracted Lyme. One dog was taken to a vet right outside of DC. Horrible experience, 1 1/2 of giving drugs to a dog who hated them (AND he was a mastiff, just try to accomplish that). Dog recovered from lyme but ended up dying from liver failure from all the drugs. Our next dog that had lyme, we took to Dr. Clark. A quick burst of antibiotics and the dog is still with us and happy 7 years later. I had chronic lyme myself (and healed from it) so I know the ins and outs. I know that some you catch early and they can get rid of it BUT, the first vet did not know what he was doing and continued to give the prescription even after health significantly deteriorated. Dr. Clark has a great sense of intuition about what is going on with the animal. Even though, I knew much about lyme, it was the last thing I thought about, Dr. Clark pinned it right away. This is something I feel all doctors need to develop and use. Thanks Dr. Clark! read more

I have used Blue Mountain for my kitties for as long as I have lived here. Dr Kline is caring and thorough, and even my cat, who has been known to be a bit testy was comfortable with him and didn't try to bite, hiss or scratch (so grateful to her :-) ). read more

Relaxing today with all of our spoiled pets. Last sunday our 13 year old boston had her first seizure, it was terrifying to see but glad I was home. Rushed her to Verona emergency, tests and meds were given(great staff there) picked her up at 3:45 am and thought that we would be preparing for what we have had to do with other pets. She was wrapped and loaded up for 1 1/2 hour ride to the greatest place in the valley (maybe world) Blue Mountain Animal Clinic. At first Dr.Clark did not like what he was seeing, a elderly dog with what looked like not alot of life left. You can tell when it doesnt look good because he treats your pet like its his own. They kept her for 5 days, each day they called with positive improvement. Today a week later, with the combination of the unreplaceable loving staff (everyone included) at BMAC and her family, we have our Daisey back.
