I have tried to adopt from there. They were unable to contact my landlord. They just sent me a not so nice email telling me to find another shelter to adopt. This place is not a good place to adopt pets. Please do not even deal with them. I was told to fill out an application for a kitten that I had wanted to adopt. This kitten was eventually going to be a gift for my sister whose cat had passed away. They accepted my application and informed me that I need to set up a meet and greet to see the kitten. I tried to contact them several times and nobody ever returned my calls. I called the director of the place and she eventually called me back and left a message that they are shorthanded and cannot answer the phones. She stated in the vmail that the people calling are not important b/c they main goals is to get pets adopted. So this tells you are not important even though my phone call was about adopting their animal. I ask you...is this a proper why to treat a potential adopter. What a joke? Horrible way to treat a customer and shows no appreciation of me calling to adopt an animal. I was informed by the manager (Michelle) that this kitten was adopted over the weekend. I was never even given a reason as to why I was never considered and they would not even have told me that other people were interested in this kitten and you better make a decision quickly. I was going to adopt this kitten but my schedule was busy this past weekend and I could not get there. At the very least, they could have called me and informed me what is going on. Again, this place is a horrible. There is no communication to the customers and they showed to me that they just don't care. PLEASE do not adopt animals from them. They do not care about you. I am extremely disappointed and hurt over this situation and do not want others to go through what I just did from them. read more

Adopted there recently. My dog was 6 months and he'd been in there for more than 90 days. He is the sweetest so whatever they're doing is working. Only negative part is the smell but also there's so many dogs it's kind of expected. The process was so quick and easy for adopting. So many cute and nice dogs there. Don't go without a specific dog in mind because You may just end up wanting to adopt all of them. read more

Extremely unprofessional staff. our family dog passed away suddenly in my arms in front of my 2 children - when I heard of the beagle puppies I wanted an opportunity to rescue one. I had been following the beagles since the media broke it. Finally I was told that the SPCA in West Chester had them so we went 8/13 and when we got there they had all been adopted - it was beyond emotional. On 8/14 I found out through a friend that this place had 3 of the beagle puppies - my husband and I rushed to go see them - I quickly filled out the application purposely leaving out my children - after approving my application they then screamed at me in front of everyone telling me that they were "nixing" my application because I didn't include information about my children as they looked me up on FB. Had they really looked at my FB page they would have seen the love I had for my precious Elvis who died suddenly along with all the other posts I share regarding animal rescue - this entire process has been so sad. I rescued my beagle, Elvis, 13 years ago from the SPCA in Monmouth County - all I wanted was to love one of beagle puppies that were in need of a good home. AND I tried explaining to them the devastation that we as a family had experienced - no compassion just pure unsurpassed judgment of the worst kind. read more

The best place to adopt a dog. The people are wonderful, caring, and very informative. They tried to make a good fit for the pet as well as the people. I would highly recommend going here to adopt a dog or a cat. We visited this shelter and had a fantastic experience. I am not really sure what other people expect, its a shelter rescuing animals. They are doing the best they can with what they have to work with. Staff was polite and helpful, answered all of our questions. Unfortunately some people will look for a reason to complain,no matter what the circumstances. As far as losing someones business, really? The first time I entered the shelter I was greeted by a smiling face and offered assistance. The facility was very clean and offered NO awful smells. Dogs had beds or blankets and toys in their runs. So. First off. I told them I had a Persian. We talked for four days. Nothing was said about other pet in house. Now I get email saying he should be the only pet and you've had since October, after I drove 3 hours to meet Humphrey. I drove the whole way down there for you to make up some crap that he has a follow up and " you didn't see the note". I asked if meet and greet goes well you said I could take him. I get there and you instantly wouldn't let him go. So what surgery did he have then on his teeth that needs a follow up? Where's the notes? I paid for tolls, gas, left work early for what? I should have read your reviews before even making the attempt to rescue the poor cat that you've had for so long but can't seem to let him go. Placed is trashed outside with tons of kennels and smells awful inside. Should be shut down. I got no response after I emailed back my response. I knew as soon as you walked away and whispered to the other staff member something wasn't right. This was red hair girl I believe Megan and the girl who sat beside her. Very rude and unprofessional. The foster was also up near my area and could have even done a meet and greet but no communication was said. So your unprofessional staff will reported to the BBB, sheriffs department, city council, mayor or city manager, department of agriculture if need be. There was no cooperative effort. I knew you were going to email me that I can't have him. I had a dog for 15 years so obviously I can take care of animals. Sad world we live in. Humphrey would of had the best life. They seemed really promising with their adoption process. they told my family on sunday to come back on tuesday for a dog meet. (they were closed on monday) they mentioned the dog had no applications and to bring all our family members and our dog. so when they opened we came with our dog and family and suddenly the dog was gone. they had told us there was no pending applications and she will be here for the meet. i honestly think this place needs to get their priorities straight cause we came out of our way after they told us the dog was available. read more

Drove all the way to the shelter only to find out they were closing early for a "Board meeting". No apology what-so-ever from the girl that told me. Adopted my two adorable puppies from AAC 5 years ago today! Rescued one of my dogs from GA from a kill shelter, and she is a sweetheart. Thankful for AAC for saving her! Staff is very friendly. You can go right in and look at all the dogs with a staff member. I believe they take donations, volunteers, and also used to do grooming for my dogs. We have since moved away from the area, but when we are ready to adopt another dog, we will be checking with AAC first! read more

This place shouldve been demolished years ago.. the kennels are very small and not spacious enough for the dogs. Also there are never staff walking around to answer questions its quite rude..They only house alot of aggressive dogs its scary smh they need to be put down one kept jumping on the inside of his kennel now wonder no one wants him... wouldnt recommend this one in camden county read more

Adoption center? More like a forever holding kennel. Staff gives you the run around. Not sure if they want the animals to get adopted or just keep them trapped in cages. Buyer beware, We recently adopted Ceasar from the center. We were told he was very healthy, and they had supposed paperwork to prove, not so fast. Caesar has tape worm, round worm n ear mites. Not too bad for being healthy. Monday when I called about this and the insurance. Ryan all but insulted me saying Caesar most like contracted these from our dogs, which the way have NO issues. I'm sure there no possible way he got anything there with the other animals. The Caesar we saw at center did complete 180 within 24 hours of being home. It's almost like he was sedated to show how calm he was??? Anyone else experience this with your pet you adopted? House trained we know that's tough to say but he and pisses all over the house. Hopefully before you adopt you will be more cautious and not get to attached to the potential pet you want. Lastly with all this we are happy Jack has a much happier home then he did 2 weeks ago. read more

We adopted our dog from the Animal Adoption Center 9 months ago. The staff was very helpful and patient with us while we were looking for a dog to adopt. They were also very helpful when I called back asking for advice on training. The facility was well kept. They are constantly organizing and attending special events to promote the shelter and help find homes for all the animals. I highly recommend this shelter to anyone looking for a new furry family member. read more

This adoption center is horribly mismanaged and leaves me totally confused. It doesn't seem as if they have the animals best interest in mind at all. I put an application in 3 weeks ago for a dog that was brought in from a hoarding situation. I called repeatedly and was told applications were still being taken, that they were being reviewed, etc. I said I didn't know what they were reviewing as no references were required. They said they need to check with the vet references. I called my vet and they said they were never called. I still have not received a call and don't know the status. I would think the objective would be to get these poor animals into good homes. I think they should be investigated and the manager let go. They staff hardly even looks up when people walk and there overall attitude is poor. Makes me sad to think dogs and cats are in a facility where they are stressed and uncared for. read more

we adopted Pepper from this shelter. These people are wonderful. Smart , caring, careful group of dedicated staff and volunteers. I urge you to adopt. I urge you to support. I urge you to volunteer. Looking at the face of this brave little dog who came from a monstrous kill shelter in Georgia makes me wonder how such places exist. the adoption process at this place was completely on point but kind in that they take great care in making the right match , looking out for the benefit of pet and person.
