I loved Cross Keys until the latest interaction that just proceeded to get worse. My dog had a tumor removed. When I received the call from Dr Hosier after surgery she said they removed the tumor but found another. They aspirated that tumor and found that it was a mast cell tumor. She never told me that meant it was cancer. When I picked him up and received written instructions I was told that he got a shot of benedryl because aspirating the tumor could cause it to granulate releasing histamines. That was all I was told nothing was explained. When I called because my dog was not walking still the next day and could not stand they blamed me for giving him gabentin which I was instructed to do in writing. I told them my dog had diarrhea was vomiting and would not eat. They suggested stopping the novox and offering chicken and rice diet. I did that then had to rush him to the hospital on Sunday because his face was swollen. Red Bank animal hospital explained that he had cancer, that his symptoms were from degranulation. They had to give him another benedryl shot and put him on benedryl meds. They told me to follow up with my vet immediately I called Monday they said I could wait until his appt Sat to get his stitches out. Went for the appointment it was obvious Dr Hosier never read the report. She prescribed him a bunch of new meds including steroids to try and get him to eat. She said she would check in, in two days. She never checked in and also forgot to removed two stitches from his chest. I called to speak with the owner Dr Masso on three occasions. They would tell me she would call back. She never did. Once the receptionist even told me the matter was closed in their system. I am so disappointed. I was calm and polite with every call. I said I didn't want Dr Hosier in trouble but I think the owner should know when so many mistakes are made. I have an appointment with a specialty surgeon soon but I'm sad that I now have to find a new vet because either Dr Masso could not spare five minutes of her time or the office, Jen, Tori and Dr Hosier, are hiding what happened. At the very least you could have told me it was cancer and know the signs of degranulation. read more

Hands down the best place to take your furry family members for checkups and non-routine visits as well. We've brought at least 5 different family dogs here, most of them since they've been puppies, and we've always been happy with the kindness in service, knowledge of the vets, flexibility in scheduling, and pricing for services. The vets were extremely sensitive and kind when we had to put 2 of those senior dogs down when their time was near, and they made us feel comfortable giving our final goodbyes to them, which means the world to me even a few years later. I've moved to Philly, less than a mile from the UPenn Vet Hospital, and I still make the 40 minute trip to take my handsome little mutt here for his checkups. read more

Doctors and vet techs at this place could pass for automotive mechanics, more concerned with trying to up-sell you something you don't need. Took my 15yr old dog in there a couple days ago and was definitely rushed out. Must've asked 3 or 4 times for flea/tick meds, the "doctor" was more enamored with quoting me with a ridiculous dental operation than what I had originally came in for. last year we took our cat in there for x-rays, they quickly and simply told us to put her down. Took the cat elsewhere to find Cross Keys had missed several things in the x-ray. was given many more options on her healthcare thankfully. Tried to give this group a second shot with my dog but that obviously turned out to be a waste of time. Will not be returning to Cross Keys Animals Hospital ever again. read more

The vet had tears in her eyes when she told me my 12 year old dog had cancer. When my puppy got into something poisonous, they took us in right away, saved her and provided excellent follow up care. I brought my dog in because she looked bloated and I was worried. The vet brushed it off and said it was nothing to worry about and that she was probably just constipated. Six months later I brought her back in because she had stopped eating and drinking and the vet asked me if I had noticed her bloating. Found out she had a huge mass and kidney failure. After two days of hospitalization and a lot of money later, they let me know they were having a hard time reading her X-ray and aren't equipped to handle her situation so we should transfer her to Penn. After taking her to Penn, they let me know that the mass unfortunately caused her organs to begin shutting down and we had to put her to sleep. To think my dog could've been saved if she was properly evaluated when I brought her six months before truly devastates me. It's been another six months since this happened and I'm still so heartbroken that I had to put my dog to sleep all because the vet dismissed my reasoning for bringing her in. read more

I have been coming here since 2001. I actually followed two of the vets from another practice. I have always had the best care for my animals, and felt as if everyone cares about my pets on a personal level. Unless you have worked in a veterinary clinic you can't appreciate what the staff and veterinarians go through when people bring in sick animals and then don't want to spend any money on them. It's hard when owners don't do the right thing because the pet is truly helpless. I have personally seen the vets here donate their time to help a pet in need, and while most people wouldn't dream of asking their auto mechanic to work for free, many people ask this of their veterinarian, as if the doctor *should* work for free. This clinic will work within a person's budget. There are always options from the perfect treatments and diagnostic tools to the make-do ones to help figure out a problem and solution with a pet. This is the best practice I have ever been to, and when I move out of this area soon it is the one thing I will miss the most. The women doctors are kind, and understanding, and when we have had to let a beloved pet go, they have cried along with us. You can't ask for much more than competent and compassionate care for your pets. For those who don't think the fees are reasonable, please do look at what it costs to run a clinic, pay for a veterinary degree, and spend your off hours calling clients, researching diseases, and worrying about a client's pet. I am willing to pay for skill, expertise and a warm, friendly staff who treats me and my pets like part of the family. read more

At one time I would have given them 5 out of 5 stars but sadly after this weekend 09/24/2022 I truly can not - I was advised to call them at 8:30 am in the morning due to my furbaby being sick - but when I called I was meet with a snarky girl who basically told me NO we are too business and more or less your pet is not sick enough to be seen today you can take him to pet check - of course I did that but only find out that to the pet check in was not open on weekends and I had to wait another 24 hours before I could get my Zack checked - only to have to have him die in my arm on Sunday morning while waiting to be seen by the Vet - So now my furbaby is no longer here because in this girls eyes my pet was not sick enough to be seen on Saturday - I would think twice about dealing with these people - I am strongly considering find a new place to take my girls (cat) to because to be honest I dont trust them to do whats right - I cried begged for them to see my Zack only to be told nope - So I hope the girls on Saturday know that if they could have possibly saved my Zack if they would have only done what I was told they would have done. I cannot go on enough about how much I appreciate Dr. Jay. The staff here is so friendly and helpful, the office runs smoothly and promptly. The office is beautiful and clean, they are flexible with scheduling. The care I've received here goes above and beyond any other vet. I spent $2000 at two other vets trying to get an answer about what was ailing my dog, they kept asking for more expensive tests that did not seem to match what was going on. The prices here are much fairer and I got an answer almost immediately! It took one visit to get an answer and he really listened to my input, unlike the other vets. All the pets in my extended family will be switching to Cross Keys! They genuinely care about your pet and not how much money they can make off of you. read more

Dr. Van Koy was my vet 17 years ago. She left the practice where I was taking my dogs and I stayed because my sister worked there. My sister recently took a job here and left the other practice. I was not happy with the other practice as my husband and I thought their front desk and customer service slowly declined over the years. The vets and techs were all good but, most times when you called, you were put on hold, long wait times, etc. I guess this is just what we came to expect as normal. Well, we didn't realize how bad it was until you go someplace with good customer service. Cross Keys waiting room is comfortable, clean and charming. All the staff is friendly and helpful (front and back of the house). Every time I've called, I was not put on hold not even for a minute. They answered all questions, told us what we were going to be charged and made sure they didn't give shots, services or medication that were unnecessary. Haven't had all the services yet, but I'm pretty sure Cross Keys is cheaper than the other place too. So glad my husband and I chose to leave the other hospital and go with Cross Keys! Will be taking my dogs here for a long time for sure! read more

Terrible. Missed an obstruction on X-ray. Went on vacation and a week later my dog is dead after dying during emergency surgery.

I've been taking my 12 year old dog here since the day she came home . The Dr's and the techs are all very nice and helpful. I always feel like the Drs are very down to earth and realistic about caring for my dog. We moved 4 years ago and now I drive 45 mins to go there for check ups or a problem. You really don't want to take your pet here! The cold hearted all woman staff quoted me $40 for office visit over the phone, but after theirso-called "exam" I was charged $114 "for tests" even though no tests were performed.. The examing vet was snotty, cold and very, very brief.. read more

This place hates cats. Absolutely hates cats. They're more dog people, even though it's an ANIMAL hospital. We took our cat to get checked for ringworm because she had some white round spots showing up. The vet told us she didn't really know what it was and just gave us some medicine for ringworm that cost $50. We took our cat back two weeks later and the vet didn't even remember what medicine she gave her or what problem she had. You would think the vet would read the records or something before or during the appointment. She didn't even know how to hold our cat! We had to do it for her! When she looked at the spots again, she said they were scars and not ringworm!!! Even then she wasn't certain and prescribed us some antibiotics that cost another $50!!! I was so angry when she only took 5 minutes to check our cat again after we waited for an hour. Once she moved on to the two dogs that were after us, she took really good care of them and greeted their owner so nicely. After that appointment I didn't set a follow up two week check. It was just awful service. I honestly do not recommend this hospital for any cat owners. read more

We have a troublesome cat when it comes to riding in a car and being at the vet. Growls like a lion. We forewarned the CK Animal Hospital and they assured us that it would not be a problem. I've switched several vets due to my cats high anxiety and the poor treatment and judgmental attitudes I've received because of it. He's a cat, he can't help being scared. Our vet at CK was amazing, patient, and very good with my bad cat. He got the care he needed, no steps were overlooked due to his behavioral issues. The vet was smiling and pleasant the entire time. When we got our new kitten, who isn't scared of anything, they were excited and happy for us! An overall great place to take your pets. These people truly love all animals and have found themselves a long-time return customer in me! read more

I took my dog to have her put to sleep. It was all handled so weird...Worst thing I ever did and no one talked to me or told me what to expect. It happened so fast I didn't get closure. I wish they had explained to me what would happen ahead of it. I have had horrible nightmares , it's been 2 months I'm glad to read the good reviews...I hope they treated her with dignity. Brindle was very sick and stopped eating. I was urged by many to take her, that she was suffering but I regret that decision every day. I think I went into shock when the dr said she was gone and immediately left the room. Think hard before making this decision...you can never go back read more

I can't say enough great things about the whole staff here. I've been taking my dog here for years for his regular check-ups and always thought they were great. However, recently, my dog was under their care for ruptured discs in his neck and was virtually paralyzed. I didn't know what to do...I was heartbroken and lost. Not only were the doctors extremely compassionate, but offered me great advice on different options I could take, and even called ahead to Univ of Penn emergency vet for me so they knew I was coming and what to expect. The office called the next day to check up and see how everything was going. They are a group of knowledgeable and caring staff. I highly recommend!!! read more
