She brought us so many wonderful times till she sadly passed last week. We told them what type of second dog to keep Bonny comfortable we were looking for. They called us to recommend a fun little beagle named Fiona in 2020. Love at first site. The staff was very helpful and friendly. After 35 yrs of cats, they found us two great dogs. We`ll be returning now to have them help us find Fiona a much needed companion. It`s a tough and pretty thankless job they do. I commened and thenk them.

It is not published anywhere on any of their media. I contacted them via Facebook. The shelter read my message and had no comment. If a previous adopter fills out and submits an application, the process should close immediately. It's cruel to give false hope to others.

I'm currently a volunteer at the shelter and have been for over a year…read more I have not witnessed the shelter before the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office took it over in 2012, but I have seen what the good of the Sheriff's Office that's done to the shelter and for the animals themselves as a non-profit shelter. New floors have replaced the old floors from the cat room to the dog area of the shelters. New programs have been introduced to the shelter through the benefit of the animals like using donations to help with pets that have heart worm to increase their adoption chances, taking in feral cats and giving them their shots but also spay and neutering them so they cannot procreate and releasing them back into the wild, and the many people in the area who donate to the shelter like toys, food, and well-needed supplies. I have never seen another shelter like this that has this much of a community behind it and as much of a support system for the animals, especially when it comes to animal overpopulation. This shelter sets a great example for other shelters to follow whether through the county's Sheriff's department or through an advocate for animals that ever wanted to operate a functional and pleasant animal shelter.

She talked us through it and helped us take care of the poor bird until we could bring it to her. Once there the bird sadly passed away on the trip over due to being underfed and really under weight (it's supposed to weight 900g but was only at 300g). She then told us all about the bird and showed us around the other birds in critical care that she was taking care of. She knows what she's doing and is doing an amazing job taking care of all these unfortunate birds.

The change in the way the shelter is ran has drastically changed in the last few years due to new…read moremanagement. they have enrichment for each animal that's in their care. Yes they are a kill shelter if due to aggression or medically compromised that a rescue partners can't take on. They have made drastic measures to have people stop dumping their animals. Its not just on the county shelter to house the strays. Its on the owners of the property where they are located. Stop making it someone else financial burden. Take ownership. Animal adoption is for the life of the pet. Being a foster they provide the supplies needed you just supply the love and attention till they can do on the adoption floor.
