IT'S NOT!, Took him back in because he had swollen 3x the normal size all on the right side, from his chest to his back toenails. He incision where she neutered him had burst open from the swelling. She accused me this. Didn't even try to close him. I took him to another vet that did all they could, I then took him to East Carolina veterinary emergency where he died of cardiac arrest, organ failure due to septic issues. This is so hard to write. On November 20th I adopted a "healthy" cat as stated per staff and medical records given at the time of the adoption, I was weary to adopt from there due to the dog kennels being closed for kennel cough, I went against my intuition and better judgment and adopted my cat at a price of 125 dollars. Within 2 day my cat had progressively gotten a cough and respiratory issues tried to call however due to holidays they were closed, on the 24th when vets opened again I reached out to our private vet and was told he had a upper respiratory infection and 3 rotting teeth. Called the humane society when they reopened to see what could be done and to let them know there must have been some sort of cross contamination between the dogs and cats, they were not willing to do any kind of reimbursement for out of pocket vet fees or take responsibility that I got a sick cat with dental problems from them, instead they said " you can surrender him back to us" that was there solution to a new pet adoption. Growing up my family has always adopted from Guilford, Yancey, Forsyth county shelters and a variety of rescues and with dealing with all of these we have never been treated with these types of unprofessional staff or substandard practices. Be very cautious about bring home a pet from this particular shelter or donating money to an organization that misappropriates your money.

I will admit that Paddington can be a handful, but he was welcomed by the team. In speaking with Michaela prior to the actual appointment, I felt confident that Paddington and I would have a pleasant experience at Lanvale. So on the day of the appointment, Vanessa greeted us with a smile; Melanie let Paddington know that he was entitled to his feelings. Paddington soon responded with calm as he listened to her. Emmery also had a calming effect on Paddington during the consultation. I was so impressed. It really warmed my heart to hear Dr. Fredericks not judge Paddington based on a stress response. He believed Paddington was a "good boy." And he is! I may be biased since I am his mommy, but I love my dog enough to find him the right team to treat his needs. I believe I have done just that by taking Paddington to Lanvale Animal Hospital. Thank you so much for giving him (and me) a chance!

Dr. Lackey decided to give our $ 20k grand champion rottweiler a hysterectomy based on her diagnosis. My subsequent investigation into the matter found that uterine inertia is not cause for this drastic measure. Additionally when I brought my girl in for breeding and prenatal care Dr. Lackey once commented that this would be my girls second and last litter.....I thought she was just kidding. Have never been back and would suggest you take any reproduction work to NC state or anywhere but Scott's Hill and Dr. Lackey

Then a walk out of the room and a return. No eye contact while the forced, minimalistic conversation took place. Apparently they have a procedure where they have you weigh your own pet in the lobby and you tell them your dogs weight? If you don't understand this going in, prepare to get attitude. Then they start the procedure with your dog without a conversation (without you in the room) and then take you to a room with the dog. It's not exactly clean. I mean the floors are free from debris and the counters free from clutter but it isn't newly scrubbed and smells like what you would expect of a pet hospital. Dingy. Dingy. Dingy. Your office doesn't need to be brand new but this isn't what I think is acceptable. I'd like to speak for the care but I didn't witness any of it so I can't tell you? For all of these things; the attitude, the lack of explanation, the lack of friendly proactive interaction and non communicative behavior I take away all your stars. BUT the vet was nice and did her job. Took a second to explain a couple things and kind of answered a question. So 3 stars back. When we paid, "Thank you. Y'all have a nice day." Too little too late ladies. The woman who brought cookies was greeted with a smile and friendly banter. Maybe they are as food driven as their customers. Wilmington Animal Healthcare is a little further but it's SUPER CLEAN and they do a lot of the things with you in the room so you can be with your baby or ask questions. They are super accommodating to any needs you might have. They will talk to you until you are satisfied. They take time to love your pet and get to know them. They take time to get to know you. It's worth the drive.

Very responsive and fast when you call/email with any issues. When we first moved, we had two dogs who were very old. Both of them died last year. Myrtle Grove was SO caring and kind during those losses. Then we adopted our current dog, who is a Covid pup and has all kinds of trauma and anxiety issues and is just generally a LOT. Again, Myrtle Grove has been amazing helping us with her. We put a ton of time and care into our dogs and I feel like Myrtle Grove really supports us, and despite the fact that they have a lot of clients, I feel like they know who we are. They remember things about our dog, and they are just so kind. You can always expect them to call you at home after an issue checking up on you pet, sometimes even multiple times. The team is super knowledgeable, I trust them completely. They will always give lots of recommendations but I have never felt any pressure to spend more than we feel comfortable with. We have on occasion seen all the docs, but our main doc who we see consistently is Dr. Rebecca Cozart. She is the best vet we have ever had, by far. We are so thankful for her knowledge and her patience with our Emma. The tech who helps us at our visits is usually Abigail Baet, who is also amazing, kind, and patient. I feel really good about the care we get here, and I always recommend this office to our neighbors and friends. Price? They are probably not the cheapest vet you will find out there. But I have never once questioned the value.

Only bad experience was the lady at the front for pick up. She was rude and acted as if we were bothering her by asking how the dogs did during their visit. She was definitely lacking in the customer service area. Thought maybe she was just having a bad day then I read some other reviews, but maybe she is just a dog person and not a people person. If that's the case maybe she should stick to working in the back with the dogs. Would hate for one person to give the place a bad reputation.
