This is one of the few times I wish it were possible to leave a higher-than-5-star rating for a business. I booked Animal Encounters as a surprise birthday gift for my wife, who absolutely loves goats. I was impressed with the prompt response I received to my online inquiry into booking, and spoke to John, who told me they could do their normal petting zoo experience with a Patagonian Mara, wallaby, rabbits, chickens, and a couple of goats or they could also do an all-goat petting zoo! Wow! Talk about being flexible and giving your customers exactly what they want! John clearly explained their requirements for where they would want to set up, but also provided numerous options depending on the weather (garage, a flat cement or concrete area, or our yard if it was large enough to accommodate their pop up gazebos and the animals' enclosure). I decided to go with the standard petting zoo, which worked out perfect because it gave the kids other animals to see and pet, while my wife contentedly played with the two goats, Andie and Ernie (I think?) Also worth noting, I think: When a snowstorm hit our area, we weren't able to have them out on the original day planned. But John promptly let me know and graciously provided options for rescheduling, thus, we ended up having them out today (less than a week later and with MUCH better weather to boot). Both John and Anna who came and set up were friendly, kind, and informative. They told us all about the animals, explained how to handle each animal--including where their wallaby Ruby liked scratches--and both set up and took everything down in short order, cleaning up afterwards. They left us with nothing but a great memory and an experience I don't think we'll soon forget. Thank you, Anna and John...and thank you Animal Encounters!! If you have a birthday or other event, I couldn't recommend them more!!!

The petting zoo from Animal encounters was so cute! They had so many different animals and explained what each of them were. They made sure there weren't too many people in the petting zoo at once so that the animals weren't overwhelmed. They also provided hand sanitizer before and after you entered. We especially loved the wallaby and baby goat!

We did a petting zoo for my daughter's 4th birthday. So amazing to work with Animal Encounters from beginning to end. Will hopefully get book them again in the future.

Animal Encounters made my daughter's 5th birthday awesome! Very patient with the kids and the animals are well taken care of. It was such a unique experience, all of the parents were asking how I found them. Set up was quick and easy. The only bad part was saying goodbye to Matilda, the sweetest wallaby ever. Definitely do it!

I went to an event yesterday and it was FANTASTIC! I hugged a wallaby! It gave me kisses! I snuggled a goat! The animals are clean, well cared for, happy, and secure. They treat the animals well, pay attention to their signals WRT how much they want to be handled, and clearly care a lot about them. These folks know their animals and audiences. I recommend them highly!

What a great birthday party for our 5 year old and his friends! We booked Cute and Scaly and were thrilled with the whole package: presentation, the animals, the education, and overall joy on the kiddos faces. We had communicated the bday boy's love of reptiles and snakes, and on the day-of, Kim suggested to cut down a bit of the "cute" portion to add 2 more snakes, for 3 total! Amazing! Everything is very clearly stated on the website and Agreement Forms with regard to space, time, guest count, etc. Communication prior was great. We had a few questions leading up to the party, and responses/answers were quick, clear and accommodating. Highly recommend!

I was surprised at how large the zoo area was. I saw almost all of the animals with the exception of the rhinos. I was disappointed in the space for the giraffes because I wished it could have been bigger. I appreciated the dedicated theme based on the geographical locations of the animals which meant you could see the animals who regionally came from southeast Asia or the arctic region, etc. This made it easy to navigate the park and see all of the exhibits. I enjoyed my day at the zoo despite the weather and I recommend taking a trip to see it for yourself.

I've also had numerous occasions where a quick chat with staff seems to be a good venting time for them. Hearing from staff on multiple occasions about how horrible the day is going and "not paid enough to care" is not a great conversation to keep members coming back. Finally, the playground area. I watch my children as they play on the playground, but there is a section that I have to remind my children to stay away from each time. I often see other small children running near this area and almost fall each time. It is the twisted ladder that extends to the top of the rock wall from the ground level. It has a large opening in the top with no barrier for accidental falls. Even watching my children while they play, I still get nervous of this section as it only takes one wrong move for them to be falling out of this gap. The playground seems accepting of children of all ages but in reality, it mainly caters to smaller young kids. This section should be removed or at least add an additional barrier to prevent any future accidents.

Whether you have little kids or you take your grandma here, getting around is fairly simple. Strollers, wheelchairs & electric powerchairs are available for rent, as are umbrellas (if you need one!). We arrived just as a bazillion elementary school children were getting ready to leave (was that good timing or what?) so the area inside was the gate was fairly congested with little kids and their accompanying adults but once they were gone, the place was pretty quiet. I actually thought it was kind of cool that the local school district takes the kids there at the end of the school year. Favorite exhibits included the meerkats, the tiger, the great big huge walruses, and the water exhibits in the aquarium where you could touch the starfish & the urchins who hugged your finger with their spines (or whatever they're called). The landscaping was gorgeous - flowers in bloom, unusual palm trees, huge monkey puzzle trees, and more. It's truly a beautiful facility. The day was warm, but not too hot, so there were animals that were hunkered down in the shade where we couldn't see them (arctic foxes, I'm talking to you!) but for the most part, everyone was out where we could see them. The zoo is the perfect size to see in 2-3 hours - by the time we left, we were looking forward to some lunch - somewhere else because the prices at the zoo/aquarium are outrageously high (a bottle of water was five bucks!). Parking was plentiful (even with all the school buses), ticket purchase went smoothly, directional signage well visible.

Our first visit to this Zoo & Aquarium was today, 7/29/26. Arrived at 11:20 AM at the parking lot…read more Let's just say it was totally packed since we had to find a parking space on Lot E (Elephant). But we were right next to the walkway, so it was actually convenient for us. Saw how small the parking spaces were from Rows A-D, how close people were parking next to each other like there were no other lots/rows available. People acted like if they could not park at a close spot, they weren't going to find a space. It's not like you can't walk when the Zoo entrance isn't even that far from the parking lot. Anyhow, the 3 of us walked in with a stroller. They had Accessibility and Stroller ramps, so it was easy to navigate. Once we got to the entrance, we scanned our QR Code to get in. There were bathrooms and maps along with signs all over the place, so thought that was simple enough to follow while staying on the recommended pathways. Getting to the exhibits was pretty easy. Thought the weather was supposed to be cloudy and a little cooler since the forecast showed temperatures in the high 60's and low 70's. But nope!! It was blazing hot with the Sun out shining the whole time out! Felt like it was in the 90's since we were sweating the whole time. Anyway, the Zoo was totally packed! Guess there were a number of Summer School trips that brought their Elementary school kids since there were a whole bunch of groups of them! Every place we went, it was crowded, loud and packed with children, parents, strollers, teachers and wagons! Thought we were in a mob pit or something... Since it was so hot out, not many of the animals were outdoors. Even if they were, probably hid somewhere to avoid being in the heat and Sun. Didn't get a chance to see the Elephant, Goat, Meerkat or Monkeys. We saw the Penguins, Sea Lions, Polar Bear and Tiger. Then visited the 2 Aquariums to see a bunch of fish and different species of Shark and Sting Rays. It took us exactly 2 hours to visit each of the exhibits and walk around the whole Zoo. Could have been shorter or longer, depending on the animals being out and not being out. Also, if it wasn't so crowded and steamy hot, we might have spent a little more time taking pictures and videos together. The Cafe was pricey and line was long. But overall, we enjoyed ourselves, especially our 2-year old. He really liked seeing the Sharks! We might try visiting again in the Fall, once regular school season starts and also when the temperatures are much cooler at that time.
