I found out about Gotta Dance from a parents board at work with many fellow mums recommending this for children's dance classes. We've had our daughter in a tap/ballet class for the last three months and are so impressed! Our five year old loves it with a warm teacher and sweet classmates. She used to dread the ballet classes we had her in Portland before we moved (unfortunately the teacher there didn't like kids) but eagerly gets ready on Saturday mornings for class! They offer summer camps as well (which she is looking forward to this summer).

The front desk staff (Malissa and Sou) are organized, structured, and most important kind and friendly. We get addressed by our names and a warm smile every time we enter the space. Once we had a small issue, and it was acknowleged and addressed immediately. Nothing was swept under the rug, so you can always feel like you're safe and taken care of. I like that it's a community of parents, teachers, staff and dancers. We have a group chat called 'Ballet Moms' where we update each other when the girls are done, need to sign up for things and especially helpful during performance season. It's the main reason why we sign up for so many classes and volunteer more than what's required. Lastly, the instructors are wonderful. We've had Ms. Tatiana, Mr. Romain, Ms. Paulina and Ms. Anna as teachers and all have made a lasting impact!

While I understand that…read moregymnastics involves physical activity, I felt the instructors were not as careful as they should be, especially considering the young age of the participants. It was kindergarten party, so 5+ year olds. The level was not suitable for kindergarten children, who need extra guidance and a gentler introduction to gymnastics. Unfortunately, my child was injured during a session, which could have been avoided with better supervision and a more tailored approach for beginners. My kid was told to switch her legs while in air and then jump on ground. Safety should always be the top priority, especially for such young children. This being her first exposure to gymnastics, this was obviously too much for her and she fell and twisted her knee. They should be mindful that for such bday party events, only introductory lessons should be thought as for some kids this might be first exposure.

Overall, after as few as about ten weekly sessions with Tiana, I see and feel a great improvement in my physical form. Tiana's system is one of whole-body conditioning, safely increasing range of motion, honing balance and body awareness, building strength and power for leaps and jumps, improving coordination for spins and acrobatic elements, with constant and meticulous attention to long, gorgeous, extended lines. If you are looking for world class training in the sport of rhythmic gymnastics, you will have found it here. Tiana is genuinely, contagiously, passionate about this sport. She looks after and cares about each and every single one of her students very deeply. She is a tremendously experienced and talented coach who has worked with Olympic athletes. Meticulous attention to proper conditioning, warm-up, technique, form and alignment creates beauty while keeping the students safe and healthy. I can also see that the girls love Tiana very much, and love the sport. The class structure allows all ages (4 and up). The older girls mentor the younger ones, age 4 and up, and the younger girls can look up to the older, more experienced girls. This makes for such a wonderful community and environment for training together and improving! Do expect to come here and drill your self-discipline: you will be working very, very hard. Come here if you expect to see results and if you truly want to pursue the most graceful sport in the world, rhythmic gymnastics. You do not need to travel to Russia to be trained in the system that has made Russian and the Ukrainian athletes so successful in countless World Championships and the Olympics. Tiana also regularly brings instructors from the Ukraine and Russia, including recent Olympians, to train her athletes. In my opinion, she is the Greater Seattle Area's window to the world in terms of rhythmic gymnastics. Our experience with Summit Dance started out positive enough when our daughter was young, however…read moreover the years it digressed to the point we made the decision to pull our daughter out of Summit Dance altogether, the following are just a few of the reasons why: 1. Dance Material. The dance instructors are very nice, but the music and chorography was very poor and outdated. We were very disappointed and our daughter very embarrassed by the routine. In fact, she didn't even want to do the recital and when she did, she was one of the few that actually knew all the moves. When we saw the performance we felt bad for going through with it. 2. Payments. Read the fine print. If you don't cancel your child by a certain date, Summit Dance will continue to bill/auto withdraw funds for classes your child isn't even participating in come June. We usually are only in dance classes during the school year, however - Summit Dance seems to like to take advantage of busy families to make an extra $100 when you forget to cancel and they will not refund you. Just a friendly heads up! 3. Customer Service. During covid we understand social distancing was a huge issue and everyone must be respectful, but when you have 5 year old child who needs to use the restroom and the person at reception will not allow them to use the toilet while their other sibling is in class and no one else is around that seemed a bit much. However, even after covid - the behavior of the person at the font desk never improved. Not sure if she was sucking on lemons or what, but this person has zero business greeting or working with the public due to their nasty demeanor and sour attitude. Again, when we started we were super excited to be able to support this locally owned woman run business, but in the end we had to respect our child who clearly was unhappy here. When your 8 year old daughter expresses how embarrassing the music and chorography is, it's not worth putting up with the other aspects of a negative situation either. We transferred to Rhythm and Soul in Woodinville and our daughter has been thriving and excited about dance again.

In the infant room he would always be so excited to see his teachers every morning, practically launching himself out of my arms reaching for them. And after a short adjustment period he is now doing the same to all his teachers in the toddler room! We have been super happy to see how well the teachers here have supported his development, helping him with everything from the major motor milestones like sitting, crawling and cruising, to things like using a sippy cup or handling a spoon. They also regularly share pictures in Tadpoles so we can see him playing with his friends, and even in the infant room would send home fun holiday crafts they did together in class. I also really appreciate that we actually feel like everyone knows us here - Miss Forozan is really hands on as Director. She's also organized fun community events for everyone, and sends out regular weekly updates. The teachers and staff here are all absolutely wonderful, we could not have asked for a better group of folks to trust with loving and taking care of our baby!

I found Aster when it was recommended by the director of Sno-Springs School, near our home. I was admittedly skeptical as I was not particularly impressed by other Montessori schools on the Plateau and in the Highlands. Ms Aparna and her assistant director worked with me and my wife to devise a plan to acclimate our son to their environment and routine. We started with part-time enrollment in their summer camp program. My son immediately loved their large grassy and wooded play area, which was 3x bigger than his old daycare's concrete one. We then continued with Aster into the school year. Although it was very difficult for him at first, Aster Montessori was very patient with our headstrong son's adjustment to Montessori. He quickly improved his social skills ("grace and courtesy") and made good friends at the school. He looked forward to going to preschool each day. As parents we are pleased that our son is achieving his language & math milestones with ease -- he is ahead of his older sibs when they were in preschool -- we are most excited that he's maturing as person. That is, he is starting to understand and regulate his rather challenging temperament. I just wish Aster had been around when our daughters were in preschool!
