I was already extremely emotional and scared, and instead of feeling like we had a team trying to help us, I felt like the first priority was how much money we could pay. Before even running tests to determine what was wrong with him, we were being asked about the cost. I understand that veterinary care costs money and that businesses have to charge for their services, but when someone is sitting there crying and desperately trying to help their pet, there should be compassion and some effort to explain the options clearly not make them feel like they are being forced into an impossible financial decision. We ultimately had to make the heartbreaking decision to put Bandit to sleep. I will always wonder whether something could have been done for him if we had been given a real opportunity to find out what was wrong and discuss treatment options before being pushed toward the cost of everything. We were charged around $500 for the euthanasia and cremation. I understand cremation is an additional service, but being charged that much after feeling like there wasn't much effort made to actually help save him has left me feeling devastated and taken advantage of. The most painful part is that I didn't feel like Bandit was being treated as a life that mattered. I felt like I was being treated as a customer and a dollar amount during one of the worst moments of my life. I held Bandit's hand while he received his final shot. He was a cat we found and rescued and became part of our family. We loved him, and we wanted to help him. I just wish I had felt that the people caring for him wanted the same thing. I hope this experience is taken seriously and that other families in a similar situation are given more compassion, transparency about costs, and genuine options before being put in the position we were in.

S.These folks also take care of all kinds of shepherds at High Sierra Lifeline K9 Rescue. Kudos for that, because they treated my King Shepherd when he first arrived from the Sacramento Shelter and came to HSLK9! Anyway, I ended up with a great dog AND a great vet! When they called Friday for this appt I told the lady exactly my timing in the mornings dropping my son to school and said that I would rush over directly with the dog and would get there by 8:40. She and I had this conversation specifically so if it was 8:20 why would I tell her I didn't know if I could be there 10-15min early by 8:30am but would make it by 8:40am-- we had this specific conversation. We talked about the timing of the appt. We did everything. I had her on speaker phone and my husband heard her say 8:40am as well and we literally wrote it on calendar the moment she said it. Would not have agreed to 8:20 as there's no way I can make it anywhere at that time on school days with my sons drop off! Wouldn't have agreed or paid for the appt!!! She said 8:40am and even talked to me about my schedule!!!! This is wrong and feels like a money grab so I have to be at $145 loss?! Just to have an appt?! Is this what they do to all new patients to take our money and keep pushing us back?! Then they have no one around that can approve the refund and/or shifting the deposit to a new appt. They have no manager schedule, in office hours, no way to contact them except send a message, no number for customers to call to get help from the supervisors that can actually approve this stuff! I asked my deposit be moved and/or a refund. They're going to "message" the office manager and cannot promise when they'll call and discuss! This is horrible management! Please do NOT use them. But seriously we have never had a bad experience. Ranch fees are extremely reasonable including weekend emergencies. Dr. Little was at our place to treat our mare last weekend. He's one of the newer vets, but we will ask for him all the time. Just great with the horses and so helpful and informative. He even called to check on Libby the next day. There are other vets here that say they work on horses, but it's obvious who the pros are.

They are the most unprofessional and completely i competent staff of both administrative and veterinary "professionals" my partner and I have EVER had the displeasure of dealing with across ANY customer service/pet/medical industry in my entire life. Please DO NOT BRING YOUR PET HERE. They have no idea how to run a business, let alone how to deal with furry little loved ones. We have experienced 4 separate incidents wherein they have failed to add authorized caretakers and credit cards to accounts, forcing me to pay thousands of dollars to pick up my partner's cat and medications on more than one occasion. When I expressed dissatisfaction with this, as we've given them an appropriate credit card several times they literally told me - I sh*t you not - that this was "clearly a relationship issue between the two of you" (myself and my partner). No, this is an administrative issue! How hard is it to put a credit card number into a computer??? When I pushed back I was told by the very rude front desk girl "it's not my fault I'm not the one he would've talked to about the card. And it's not my fault if you two aren't communicating with each other." Then, when I requested to speak with management about this, we got told AGAIN that this was clearly "a communication/relationship issue." Who the hell are these people to comment on my relationship when they are the ones failing to do their jobs? Such a completely bizarre demonstration of DARVO and deflection from their screw ups. They've also failed to inform us properly of necessary care after operations for our cat when we've told them in advance we have travel plans and to please let us know if care is required that prevents us from traveling. We get nothing ahead of time, told to go on our trips, then handed our cat with several medications and all these instructions. These issues happened last year. I promptly removed my own cats from their awful care, but we kept my partner's cat with them as they diagnosed an aggressive sarcoma and we didn't want to change our hometown care when our cat has freaking cancer. Since then they have been absolutely no help whatsoever. Continued issues with saving credit cards. Frequent disrespectful tones and verbiage. It's almost as if they take pleasure in being mean to people. The reason I make this review now is that our cat's cancer recurred and we had to amputate her leg. We advised Alpine of this in advance as well as after the surgery happened and provided an emergency caretaker's information as well as a credit card again in case of emergencies. We told them specifically that we may need to bring her in as an emergency case depending on how her recovery goes as the operating specialty surgeon is over 2 hours away. They stated that should be fine, that they were aware and should be available for her. Well, it happened and we were advised by the surgeon's office to get little kitty in to be seen right away at her home vet since her incision is seeping and she is not eating or having bowel movements. We called and were told under no circumstances could they take her. Tried again and were met with the most insanely rude vet saying they had *no idea* she had a surgery. No record of any caretakers or any procedure or request for emergency care for her on file at all. Essentially told in more words that they are not interested at all in helping her because the specialty vet "hadn't faxed over her medical documents." I am appalled, I have never seen such blatant and disgusting lack of care for their clients, both furry and human. I had already vowed last year to never step foot in that place again, and the only silver lining of this is that this experience finally gave my partner the push he needed to also remove his cat from their care. If you care about your pets and have any expectation of getting the most baseline customer service possible please take your pet literally anywhere else! I hope I never have to experience seeing any of this staff ever again and I truly hope that everyone who gets care with them finds better care as there are definitely more competent facilities in the area such as Sierra Vet Hospital and Carson Valley Animal Hospital in Gardnerville. Thank you to anyone who read this wall of text, we are very passionate about our pets and hope nobody else has to deal with the experiences we've had with these awful people.
