I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Matt and Tannier today. I adopted a black domestic short haired cat (male) two weeks ago. Given his recent trauma of being in a carrier when I flew with him from Portland (Oregon) to Reno, I did not want to stress him out by placing him in a carrier to see a veterinarian in a traditional clinic. I received instructions from Battleborn to secure my cat in a bathroom. Dr. Matt and Tannier were punctual and very professional. They showed wonderful kindness towards my cat - he did not meow at all when they trimmed his nails, and retrieved urine/blood from him for lab work. It was worth every penny to have a house visit - minimal stress for my new fur baby. read more

Dr. McSweeney was absolutely wonderful! I had 3 cats and have been trying to find a mobile vet for several years. Every single one I have called in my area told me that they are not accepting new clients, so I would call back every 6 months or so, same story. I was finally referred to BBMV. My elderly cat needed a quality of life check and my other two terrors simply needed a wellness check. Taking all 3 to a vet office is such a hassle (one pees as soon as she sees the carrier and one poops in the carrier on the way to the vet and the way home). BBMV's vet tech Heather, was super responsive to all my messages and answered all my questions. They were able to get me into the schedule within 2 weeks, which I thought was totally acceptable given I was a new client and had 3 cats to see at the same time. Dr. McSweeney and Heather showed up slightly early, but were very kind and gentle with my cats. He was very thorough and explained all possibilities and treatment options. I ended up having to allow my eldest girl over the rainbow bridge during the appointment and Dr. McSweeney and Heather were amazing. They gave me all the time I needed before and after the injection. They treated my little girl with the respect and love she deserved. While I did not enjoy the appointment, it was nothing that Dr. McSweeney did. I would 100% recommend him. The $120 travel price was totally worth is for me, and the remaining costs that were charged were actually less than what I would have been charged at the local vet office. My total bill was just about the same as it would have been if I had gone to the local vet office, and in the end my kitties were less traumatized and my little girl got to say goodbye in her own home. read more

I can't imagine taking my babies anywhere else in the Reno area. On top of that the prices are great and the convenience is amazing. Unfortunately, I can no longer leave a favorable review after my recent experience with Dr. Matt and his assistant on Monday, June 9th. I had scheduled an appointment for my cat, Jimmy, to receive vaccines and to discuss ongoing issues with inappropriate urination--an issue we've been dealing with for over two and a half years, dating back to his appointment in 2023. Initially, I hoped neutering would resolve the behavior, but the urination around the house continued. In 2024, I brought Jimmy to a local veterinarian for a comprehensive evaluation, which included a physical exam, bloodwork, urinalysis, and a variety of behavioral interventions (Feliway, additional litter boxes, different litters, a water fountain, and a prescription urinary diet). Unfortunately, none of these solutions worked, and the tests indicated the issue was most likely behavioral. Despite trying various strategies--closing doors, altering his environment, and attempting to outsmart him--Jimmy continued to urinate on our beds, clothing, and around the house. After careful consideration, we decided to try Prozac, as the benefits outweighed the risks in our situation. We were emotionally and physically exhausted, constantly doing laundry and managing the chaos, especially with young children in the home. I reached out to Battleborn Vet again, as our first experience had been positive and I hoped a home visit would be less stressful for Jimmy. Unfortunately, the appointment did not meet expectations. Dr. Matt and his assistant arrived 15-20 minutes late without any notification or apology. No reminder email or text was sent ahead of the visit either. I initially sent my husband out to speak with Dr. Matt, but he returned confused and frustrated, as the doctor was recommending a repeat of the same tests we had already completed. When I tried to explain our extensive history and prior testing, Dr. Matt repeatedly interrupted and spoke over me, showing little interest in hearing the background. He insisted on repeating tests, including a bladder ultrasound, and the assistant--who had previously been upbeat--was withdrawn and uncommunicative, making the entire visit feel tense and uncomfortable. I eventually asked to postpone the appointment. Dr. Matt stood silently working on his computer, finalizing charges and notes, while the assistant remained mostly silent. I ended up going to sit outside to avoid further discomfort. I was surprised to see a $120 travel fee to Cold Springs, which had not been disclosed, and was charged for an examination that I never witnessed take place. Felt more like a money grab today than anything. Overall, this was a deeply disappointing experience. Given the lack of communication, professionalism, and empathy shown during the visit, I can no longer recommend this veterinary practice. read more

This last November we found out very suddenly that our 13 year old dog we'd have for 10 years had cancer and had to be put down that same day. I live in Reno and called every single vet I could to see if anyone would do a house visit on such short notice. With an aching heart and tons of tears I was turned down by every single place. "Not enough notice, to late in the day, sorry." Was all I got. Until Dr.Matt agreed to come out to us even though we're on the far north side of Reno. Thoes precious few hours we had with our girl before she was put down meant everything to me. Dr.Matt was kind and gentle and amazing throughout the entire process. I was on a jog when my dog chased a rabbit into some open spaces and cut her her foot. It was bleeding immensely like a fountain. Thank the Lord, Dr Matt happened to drive by in his mobile vet van. I flagged him down and asked for help. He was on his way to other appointments. He realized this was emergency as she completely severed her main vein in her foot and did surgery on her in his mobile vet van right then! Thank you Dr Matt for stopping and saving her life! I wish had I known about Battleborn Mobile earlier, Dr. Matt is an incredible vet and has helped us so much with just 1 visit. We have a cat that is very difficult and does not travel well whatsoever, so taking her to the vet is often a nightmare for everyone involved. This results in a lot of vets not giving her the time to figure out if something is wrong because she is just so angry and stressed out if she isn't at home. Last time we took her in, she didn't eat for almost a week when we got home because she was so upset. Dr. Matt came to help us figure out what could be wrong as several other vets in town have told us she just has behavior problems. He has a very calm demeanor and he really went out of his way to keep our cat relaxed. He was on time for our appointment, and with him coming to us we saved a ton of time from our day. Within MINUTES he was able to tell us she has arthritis in her back legs and is helping us come up with a treatment plan for her. He was able to do a blood draw to run some additional tests at the same time. Our cat is happy and comfortable at home and we are all confident we can treat her arthritis to relieve the pain.
