This place was fantastic for a total casual skating newbie. Tattoos took such good care of us. We told her we were brand new to skating and she pulled out all the options and had us try on each, telling us what to look for in the fit and filling up the rest with great stories, charming and relatable, which put us at ease. We were there maybe an hour and a half all told, but it didn't feel like it. We never felt rushed - she took her time and let us take ours. Brilliant experience. She was a wealth of information and helpful tips, gave us a YouTube account to look at for techniques and a local place to take classes. We very much enjoyed our time in this shop and with this wonderful woman. Wish we lived closer! Suffice it to say that, if you're in the market for skates or skating gear (or anime gear, toys, wearables etc), this is the SPOT. The kind of place you love supporting because it feels like home and you can geek out together about things you love. What a treasure. The best place to buy roller derby skates in the Detroit area. As a parent of a derby girl, I was so Impressed. The staff was really friendly, knowledgeable, and practical. They took the time to listen to us, they gave us their expert recommendations, they had my kid try on a bunch of different options, and, once we made our selection, they helped us customize the wheels, toestops, etc. They were SO much more knowledgeable and customer oriented than other skate shops we've visited (very noob friendly) and way cheaper too. These People only offer store credit, absolutely under no conditions do they take returns, even if you've owned the the item for less than 24hrs they don't care. Don't bother asking for help looking for a board either. They'll tell you to "feel free to look" or "feel free to try it out with the plastic on". We kept asking questions about bearings, material of, and quality and we kept getting the same response as if they were scripted. Purchasing from a store with a "no refund" policy was not the greatest decision. I didn't notice until I got home, unfortunately. I tried returning the item that I no longer needed within the 24h that I had purchased it(wrong type of purchase). Mind you, I mentioned that the product had never even left my car, and it was still in its original wrapping. After deciding to return it, I am now stuck with a store credit for a store I do not wish to purchase anything from. Their advice: you can always call us ahead of time to see if we have something you like. I'm embarrassed to go back in, but it seems like that's what I'll have to do in hopes to find what I need eventually(within the next year, according to my store credit). read more

Like the title says, if you are into either anime or skateboards you should definitely pop in. I don't skateboard but I do love their selection of skate shoes and clothing. Even I have purchased shoes from here which are super comfy and great quality. I usually stop in to check out the more 'anime' side of things, which is small but certainly a treasure! They get new stuff in all the time so there is always something to see. They have Japanese character figures and plushes and well as movies, anime, CDs, wall scrolls and even a manga section. Behind the glass counter is an array of small, fun items like phone charms, buttons, cards and other things. They also have Japanese treats like sodas, candy and other snacks. Every time I stop in I make sure to get a Ramune and some Pocky! Oh and if you are looking for something specific, talk to the staff. Very neat store with awesome products and imports. I loved going here back when it was called Game Station and was located in Downtown Wyandotte. Be warned, you will probably see so many cool things that you will spend a fortune here every time you visit. My one complaint - and it is a major complaint - is that YOU MUST CHECK EXPIRATION DATES ON THE CANDY. I've seen candy there that is expired by several years. PLEASE BE SAFE and don't eat candy that expired in 2005. Other than that, it's an awesome store and there's no doubt that everyone will find a little something that they enjoy here. read more

Good stock on the mainstream/widely-known anime/manga stuff. Best is the HUGE variety of DVD's it has. Definitely worth a look. Pricing is a little high but because there aren't many places that sell this stuff nearby, it's mostly fair. However, I suspect a bit of racism or discrimination against minorities from a female that works there as I did not get as friendly a service from her than other pale-skinned individuals at the store did get. I love this place! Dame and Wonder have been so awesome at helping me start my roller derby journey. They honestly care so much about finding the right fit and products for you. I have tried on every single elbow pad in the store and all the skates I could have hoped for and never once felt rushed or like I was being an inconvenience.
