AVOID THIS PLACE. My appointment with Dr. Anita Lee at Target Optical was hands-down the worst eye exam I have ever experienced, and I genuinely believe it crossed the line into malpractice. I have zero confidence in this diagnosis or this prescription. I am filing a complaint with the California State Board of Optometry and disputing the charges. Do not trust your eyes to Dr. Anita Lee. First, she was 30 minutes late. Then I was charged an additional $60 fee for a test I was told I "had to get". During the exam, Dr. Lee told me I had astigmatism and said I needed a new prescription. After this she essentially turned around and asked me what prescription I wanted - and then wrote that. That is not an eye exam. That is not medicine. That is a stranger handing me a prescription based on what I told her I felt like getting. When I went in around an hour after to talk about how unsatisfied I felt she said "nothing will make you happy". read more

I called to book my son's eye exam. All my insurance information was taken over the phone. When I arrived for the appointment I was informed I had to pay an additional $40 for the dilation. This has always been part of the comprehensive exam. When I asked about the charge they said because they are out of network with my insurance VSP. They had my insurance information prior to the appointment. Out of respect I should have been informed about this prior to my appointment. The doctor stated we don't understand how much work is in dilating. Maybe she doesn't understand wasting people's time is disrespectful. read more

My son went in for an eye exam and had his eyes dilated. She then told him that the machine was not working and had him do an optomap. She should have made sure that the machine was working before she dilated his eyes. read more

I was rather disappointed with my experience. The exam itself was fine. However, it felt like being examed by a robot. The optometrist talks too quiet, and since she wears a medical mask, it's hard to understand what she's saying because she talks too quietly to make up for the extra barrier. From the little I could comprehend, it sounds like she's reciting a script. She doesn't pause for questions nor asks basic customer service questions to ensure we haveany concerns covered. I'd mentioned that I prefer the contact brand I've been using for 12 years, but she kept pushing for daily contacts. I was prescribed daily contacts without even being asked, which maxed out my insurance on only 2 weeks worth of dailies. I could have bought 6 months worth of monthlies for $50. These were what she called a 2 week trial! In my experience from several other optometrists, I get 1 free pair to try for a week, and was never forced to order my own 2 week trial. Because it was so hard to hear her mumbling, I didn't quite catch that she expected me to pay for those with my insurance. She considered me putting in the nonprescription pair of contacts as my fitting, which was inaccurate. Yet I had to pay $67 to let her watch me do something I've done since I was 16. In the end, my insurance was charged over $200, and no one from this Target Optometry location has bothered to call or email me regarding the order, nor had the contacts delivered to me. After 2 weeks of attempting to reach someone, I finally caught someone at the phone who took my message -- and never heard back from anyone. A month later, my partner checked on things on my behalf, because I was feeling too frustrated and didn't want my frustration to turn me into a Karen. My prescription was updated, but I still haven't seen evidence that those over $200 "trials" even exist. Ironically, I've had Walmart locations (in several states east & west coast) treat me better, and I'm not a Walmart fan. In fact, a Seattle location had someone who took time to answer several questions I had regarding "night contacts." Here, it felt like, "Whatever, it's just a small Target clinic." Next year I'll save money by getting an online contacts & glasses prescription through Lens dot com, and do a comprehensive eye health exam in a stand alone physical optometry. read more

The staff was friendly and professional and Dr. Lee was quick and thorough examining my eyes. My experience was 100% positive here. I'll definitely be back and will recommend her to my family. Trivia: I've only had two eye exams in my life. The second one I'd gotten was around 2010. Later, when my glasses broke, I wanted to get a pair online but the doctor's office (not this one) wouldn't give me my Rx because over a year had passed. So from memory I used what I 'remembered' my first one to be and it must've been close because I've been using it since and have never gotten a headache from it. But because I was worried I might be causing unnecessary strain on my eye(s), I finally broke down to get a new Rx and it's almost exactly the same! What are the odds? God is good! I had to change optometrist due to insurance and was so pleased with the customer service from Lydia and Dr.Lee. Dr. Lee clearly explained my options regarding contact lenses and helped me figure out what would work for my needs. She did this quickly and efficiently. She also explained everything in a way I could understand. The front desk was very helpful, welcoming and kind! When I left I was so happy with my contact lens fit and also looking forward to my new prescription glasses and sunglasses.
