Came here wanting to support a small private practice, but my whole experience trying to check my contacts prescription and getting refills was bad. The doctor and eye exam itself were fine. He explained things well but mentioned that there were new contacts that were better for dry eyes at the same cost of what I was using, which turned out to be untrue. I wasted some time waiting for the trials and trying them out, only for them to be way more expensive than I expected. The office administration was just odd - all those machines before the eye exam were barely explained and there were awkward moments I didn't know what to do. I didn't hear from them for weeks because they had put down a completely incorrect number for my contact. Their communication was often confusing and wrong, with staff correcting themselves when I pointed it out. Then trying to understand the costs and insurance coverage with the office staff and the doctor, I felt like they were trying to be misleading to get more out of pocket from me. And when I finally decided to stick with the contacts I've been using for years, they had a whole spiel about insurance having problems on supply like they were trying to get me to choose something else. In the end when I picked up the contacts, they were all labeled as trial lenses and not for sale. Just suspicious all around. read more

I brought my grandmother in and even though she was very impatient due to her age, everyone was kind and understanding with her. I absolutely love Dr. Tran. He is such a breath of fresh air! His office is modern and clean. There is plenty of parking right outside and his office is conveniently located off of State College. His support staff is extremely kind and professional. They are willing to work with you to accommodate your schedule and are always friendly. Dr. Tran uses modern technology in his office which makes your experience so much more relaxing. He takes the time to ensure that the prescription he has written is tailored to what you feel comfortable with and not just "basically accurate." On my first visit with him he was extremely patient with me and took the time to not only dilate my eyes, but sat with me to discuss some of my family vision issues at length. He was extremely thorough and did not rush me, even though he had patients waiting. Since I was trying out a new (more suitable) brand of contact lenses, he sent me home with a pair to come back with in a week and see if they were a good fit. I felt no pressure to go with any one brand and was free to try something different if they weren't for me. It can be hard to find that type of integrity now days. I will come back when I am easy for new frames as well. He has a great selection of styles and name brands that are priced fairly. This review is long overdue--Dr. Tran is a thorough and knowledgeable optometrist. I was Dr. Berry's patient and when I called to make an appointment was surprised to see Dr. Berry had retired. I made an appointment with Dr. Tran, who had taken over Dr. Berry's office, for both contact lenses/eyeglasses. Had an issue with one of my eyes and Dr. Tran was kind enough to sit with me one-on-one and explain the issue and answer any of my questions. Exam prices were reasonable and I was seen right away (no standing in line at COSTCO). I've recommended Dr. Tran to my friends and family. My first time visit today was rather easy! My appointment was at 10:30am and I would suggest coming in a bit early to complete some "paperwork" (it was electronic). Wide range of selections for frame but the best part is the staff and Dr. Tran himself. Staff are friendly and provide options while letting you make your own decisions. Same with Dr. Tran. He is very caring and asked a lot of questions to comprehensively understand your eye usage - what you use it for/how long/how intensive. I have never had an optometrist who treats their client with such care and respect. His suggestions are sincere and you can tell that he takes his job seriously. This place is pretty cool. Ever since Dr.Berry left my doctor has always been awsome. Young fun hip doctor. I always look forward to get new glasses. He was new styles everytime. I went into the office to replace my broken glasses, considering that I would be seen by Dr. Berry.. Find out that its a whole new remodeled eyewear office . I loved the the new remodeled office. The receptionist upfront was very nice.. They had no problem pulling up my old file.. Loved the customer service, the treatment with the doctor was great..
