The in-house alterations on my wedding dress were poorly done, including an uneven illusion neckline, white thread on nude mesh, and jagged stitching. When I brought my wedding dress here for alterations, not only was the seamstress incredibly dismissive of my concerns and told me to "just use photoshop" but the work she did was truly atrocious. On 5/4 I went to Anne Mathew's eager to be sized for a wedding in September. Upon arriving I was greeted and I let the front desk greeter/sales associate know why I was there and we began, the Anne Mathew's process for a bridesmaid. I was told I was to select a style. So, I tried on 3 dresses. I think it was at this point, I was told I would have to put down a deposit to be sized. The deposit was 1/2 the price of the dress. 174.22. Again, at this time, this is the price to my understanding to be sized. This also included a $40 rush fee because at the time the bride selected and purchased her dress in December she was not notified of when her bridesmaids needed to be sized by. Additionally when the Anne Mathew's staff contacted the bride inquiring of her bridesmaids, no information was given on the deposit process, nor the rush fee that would now accompany any order. The bride completed her order in December of the previous year. There is a less than favorable conversation between myself and the same greeter/Sales associate at this point because I am trying to understand the logic behind a deposit for being sized. Not placing an order, but again being sized. At this point, I am also told that the remaining balance of the dress would be due 6 days later to finalize the order on 5/9. So again the dress is NOT being ordered this is a sizing deposit on the dress to be ordered. When I continue to inquire about the why behind what seemed to be ridiculous and non-necessary charge. As the same greeter is filling out the paperwork, she asks me for my address. I ask why? Are you shipping the dress to me? Again ZERO logic in some of this encounter. The greeter gets uncomfortable, sends out a life preserve and another member of the team comes out to help. Also, ask me or my address, I again, ask why? Logical question. Now unsure whether this person is a manager, but she comes out and we exchange a less than favorable dialogue. Now the owner comes out and asks me why I am giving his staff a rough time, I explain I am asking logical questions. He responds that this is usually an "enjoyable" experience. Ok. He then asks me, "So what do you want to do." I said, "I want to understand why you need my address and why you are charging me 174 to be sized?" He shares the address is needed for legal reasons. And that is "just the policy." I am now told to select a color, but on specific color for style. I ask has anyone else come to get sized. I didn't want to not be in the "right" dress so I went back to the fitting room. At this time they recommend I size up because the dress HAS to be altered. LOL by them at no less than a 200 minimum. This may be specific to the dresses but, they essentially size you for the skirt, or the largest body measurement, and the, the other part of the dress, in this case the bust comes in a double GG. So now, I am thrown off by the sizing. I finally say I am not ready to make a decision because I wanted to check with the bride to be sure on the color style, and honestly to consider whether or not I wanted to be in a wedding that required me to buy what was at least $500. But I was sized so I paid the 174.22 and of course essentially signed it away. At this time I am still thinking I have to come back and pay the remaining deposit in order for the dress to be ordered. I think, I am singing what essentially says, when you pay your remaining deposit, you are now bound to these terms. In short, I verbally discuss with someone on the phone that I want a refund. She again repeats the policy. which is, this is the policy. So again, I was charged 174.22 to be sized. The dress has not been ordered. The dress will not be ordered. End of conversation. I received a text message at 2:22PM offering a refund via transferring the funds to the maid of honor. And that they were proceeding with order. This is after I verbally stated I would not be completing the order with the vendor. Infact, I asked for the name of the dress vendor, because I figured I could find it on the net. Or use a contact to make the purchase directly for me. 2 points to be made here: 1: I do not not know the maid of honor. Nor did I do business with her. 2: The policy I signed, which I thought wasn't solidified until the final deposit, states no fund transfers. I did not respond to the message At this point, I chose to dispute the charge with my bank because again, my understanding was the charge was for the sizing, and went towards the price of the dress upon the completion of the order. Anne Mathew continued with the ordering process. WORST Bridesmaid experience ever. And this is my sixth wedding. and I'll be in another 3 this year. read more

I wanted to wait to review until my bff's wedding day and actually getting the gown. The experience of trying everything on was great. She was able to find a dress she liked that fit her personality, simple with some sparkle. The only issue we encountered was that we were told that a few features of the dress could be hemmed or changed, but that ended up not being able to happen. For example, she was unable to have her train altered and trimmed down and the plunging neckline wasn't able to be sown closer together. Overall it was a good experience. read more

I would rate this establishment zero if I could. My heart is so broken right now.... my wedding is 22 days away. I went to pick up my dress to take it home and then I find out there are 5 tears in my dress. I ask to speak to the associate who sold me the dress and she told me that I bought it in an AS IS condition. Obviously, the dress was NOT in the condition I bought it in. I have photos to prove it. The owner didn't even want to give me a discount she said that they would patch it up instead... are you serious!?! I didn't pay a lot for a patched up dress! Then BOTH the sales associate and the owner kept telling me " This is how you bought it." Wow. EXCUSE ME, if I would've bought the dress this way I wouldn't have made a big deal about it. And I would've remembered!!! My emotions got the best of me and I started crying SO much. The owner did not even empathize with me. She didn't care what I had to say. I asked for a discount (I mean that's the least they can do) and she wouldn't give me one. She said she had already given me one because the dress was out of season. ??? It does not matter I didn't buy it ripped up!! The owner and sales associate were basically calling me a liar. I know what I bought and it wasn't that. And then the owner started accusing me of calling her a thief because I told her it wasn't in the AS IS condition I bought it in. She's said "If you think I'm calling you a liar then you are calling me a thief because I sold you the dress this way" Oh my gosh.... that's exactly what she was doing. She's selling me a damaged dress!! So I had no choice but to buy a patched up dress! This is so cruel. Weddings are the most important day of a persons life. I don't have time to buy another dress. I know the owner can give me a discount she was just being selfish and cruel. I know I don't deserve any of this but at least give me a discount! At least have some empathy! I'm picking up my patched up dress at Ann Matthew's on Monday July 15, 2019 @ 12pm. I really hope they don't mistreat me again because I posted this bad review. I just think every future bride should know this. Please feel free to share this review no bride should ever have to encounter this experience. It's terrible and I can't stop crying. Veronica was super helpful in interpreting my needs, she continually offered alterations that could be done and allowed me to chat with their seamstress to ensure that I could have a strong idea of what the dress would look like. I really appreciate the assistance I received, other bridal salons in Albuquerque have not given me individualized attention or had knowledgeable staff to assist in the process. Here I was given a stylist who stayed with me for the entire appointment. I was really excited to visit Ann Matthew's as a lot of my friends said their family members had found their dresses here. However I was really disappointed with the experience I had. I began shopping a little later than recommended (wedding is in 6 months) but I was told they would have me try on dresses they would be able to receive in time. However, I feel like the consultants would not listen to what I was asking. I told them numerous times that I did not want a big skirt or anything with tulle in it and yet they brought out dress after dress with those thing in them. It was also an uncomfortable environment because there are so many workers constantly whispering and talking during the fittings. It felt like we were constantly being listened to and watched. The weirdest part was they leave you on the pedestal in a dress that you do not like while they try to find other ones. I probably spent 5-10 minutes waiting on the pedestal in between dresses. One instance that really turned me off was that the consultant told me the dress I had on was a little yellow due to it being in the shop for a long time and that if I picked this dress it would be white. When the manager came to help zip the dress she said that she loved the dress and hadn't seen it on anyone yet since it was a brand new style. Everyone there seemed fake and were trained to give constant compliments just to. I would not recommend this store. read more

I will not be returning to Ann Matthews and will withhold any genuine recommendations to others about visiting this impersonal boutique as well. I've work bridal as a stylist in Denver, Colorado and I know exactly what makes a customer feel valued. ANN MATTHEWS DOESN'T HAVE IT. It was clear, Cassidy, the stylist, was new and was taking direction from her superior. That would be just fine given the situation (and considering I've been in her position as well as a beginning bridal stylist) but I felt very little effort was put into my appointment to make me feel special or at the very least to make me feel like a serious customer. I sent photos to them a week beforehand and made it abundantly clear of my interests and my budget. I trust my requests were hardly unattainable as my budget was $2500 and my fiancé joined the appointment to even clarify details for them about our upcoming date. I am very interested in dresses with dramatic sleeves. It wasn't until the 6th and final dress they brought out that had sleeves at all and not just straps. I felt entirely ignored. There were no detachable sleeves that were brought out to me, despite the manager saying she would "go in the back and look" multiple times which appeared dishonest to me. I know bridal boutiques offer detachable sleeves, halos, sash/belts, veils, sometimes gloves, and headpieces such as tiaras. At no time during the 90min appointment did she offer to accessorize me in any of these complimentary additions for the appointment. In fact, she didn't talk to me at all about how the alterations work or how I could create a complete bridal look with options and accessories, let alone about each dress. I was expecting or at least hoping she would freely offer details about each gown I was trying on so at the very least I could learn as well and feel informed about my decision. They asked for me to return for a follow-up and it is quite unclear to me what the value of that will be. I found a dress I thought was the one and even asked the price and was then given another dress to try on after that which looked nothing like the one that caught my eye. It was surely up to me to be impressed with the dresses, to learn about its details, and to pursue information about next steps, all instead of being a valued customer from whom they are determined to get a sale. As a customer, it's often the salesperson who convinces me to buy well before the item itself (in this case, a wedding gown). I have absolutely no interest in buying from an individual I feel disrespected by. At Ann Matthews, I felt just that. I felt they were not taking my requests seriously and assumed I couldn't afford my requests. THAT IS SO RUDE AND UNACCEPTABLE! I am black and had a good friend who was white (also engaged who referred me to Ann Matthews) go in for a bridal appointment a week earlier and it sounds like we had very different experiences. I'm not sure why that would be the case under any circumstances when dealing with a professional salesperson. I booked an appointment online using their portal, when Jason text me asking for dress ideas, all he seemed to care about was my price range. When I specified I didn't have one and was basing it on how the dress made me feel, he kept pushing for a price. I cancelled my appointment on the spot from there. I tried to walk in to see their inventory, in hopes to find my dress... Same situation, all Jason wanted to know was my price, and refused to pull any dresses. He kept pestering my sister and I and made our experience miserable. My niece was only allowed to try on three dresses, which is absolutely ridiculous. The owner is quite annoying. He randomly pops up here and there, and just won't go away. It felt like we spent most of our appointment listening to him ramble on about nonsense. Everything he said sounded so fake, and rehearsed. We went to several other shops that day, and they all allowed her to try on several dresses. What designs my daughter had already selected and they had several dresses waiting for us when arrived. The styles were exactly the type of style my daughter asked for however as we narrowed it down we ended finding an even more perfect dress that fit my daughter perfectly. If there was an award for "The Worst of Burque" Ann Matthews would win in a landslide. My niece came from out of town to shop for her wedding dress. Like most people, she had a couple of appointments scheduled as she really has no shopping options in her hometown. The salesperson asked what her budget was and if she had shopped anywhere else. My niece gave her the budget and said she had been one place earlier in the day. At that point the salespersons demeanor completely changed. My guess is she thought we were to low budget to be worth her time. She barely listened when my niece told her what she was looking for. She dumped a binder in her lap telling her this is what we have in your price range with a cup full of binder clips to mark pages and walked off. She made no suggestions or even bothered to point out a page or two that might be along the lines of what we were interested in. Based on the size of the book, it was a huge binder, my guess is our budget was around the same as most. My niece is halfway thru the book with 5 or 6 pages clipped and now the salesperson tells her it's policy that you can only try on 3 dresses if you've shopped elsewhere. Seriously?? If that's an actual policy they should tell people this at the time of the appointment. We pick 3 dresses, hard to really know what to pick based off of photos. The salesperson puts them in a dressing room, does not assist with putting them on, does not offer up any information about the dress and only wants to know if she likes it or not. Same demeanor with all 3 dresses. At this point we all feel incredibly uncomfortable, my niece feels completely rejected and we are out the door in all of 20 minutes. My sister did stop and complain to the salesperson about how awful the whole experience was but this woman could have cared less. With this treatment Ann Matthews must have a lot of dresses on hangers collecting dust that never see the light of day. Thanks for treating my family like crap Ann Matthews. People try to shop local and support small business but you can't be supportive of a young woman on an important day in her life. I'll be sure to let the whole 505 know exactly how you treat people. Luckily my niece found THE dress at another wonderful shop here in town, sure it was a little over budget but totally worth it.
