He told me to call around for a pcp and to take whatever next available appt was available, which ended up being 4 months later for me. This was my experience, yours could be different from mine.

They helped diagnose my beloved cat Achilles with a shockingly advanced cancer. It took multiple tests and procedures in under 24-hours, and they had to deliver a result no one wants to hear. Throughout the process the staff treated me and my cat with such care and dignity. After the initial x-rays, the head vet took the time to acknowledge how painful and shocking it was. Every member of their staff was so genuine. One of the nurses told me she loved that my cat had a mix of black and pink toe pads. Another shared stories of the puppy who would be the last overnight neighbor my cat had. When we went to say goodbye to Achilles, he had a pink paint mark on his forehead that another staff member explained was lipstick from an overnight nurse who kisses all her patients. Our euthanasia nurse made him a plate of cheese, mousse pate, and little crunch treats before he had to go. I am so glad he was so loved in his last hours. Was it expensive, yes. There's a wider conversation here about prices that staff don't set themselves, and pet care in America. But for anyone in dire straits with a pet that needs help, no one here judged me. If he had recovered, I think they would have been cheering right alongside me.

Uxbridge Animal Hospital did an amazing job making one of the worst days of our lives a little easier. We recommended them to all the pet owners we know. We adopted another dog soon after, Charlie. Charlie was loved unconditionally and was treated with the same love that we give his 6-month-old (human)brother. He was outside all day every day with my husband- he spent a lot of time training him, he even trained him to track in the woods. We had a crate set up in our room for him, but he slept in bed with us every night. When we first got Charlie, he had very sad eyes. We were able to change that. Unfortunately, Charlie chewed on a piece of plastic that he shouldn't have. His chewing was actually our biggest concern during his last checkup. We bought him all sorts of chew toys, and I would buy him bone marrow bones from the butcher in hopes it would keep him busy. We tried to make sure he wasn't able to get anything dangerous, but accidents do happen. Charlie became really sick all of a sudden. We called Uxbridge animal hospital and told them it was an emergency first thing in the morning. They said they couldn't get us in until 4:15pm. As Charlie was getting worse, we called back in hopes that they would get us in sooner. That did not happen. We arrived a few minutes early to our appointment. We had to sit with him in our car 15 minutes after our appointment was supposed to start. We waited another 20 minutes in the room before we were seen. When the Veterinarian arrived, she diagnosed him with having a blockage based on the samples we brought with us. We were already heartbroken because we knew given our financial situation, we would have to make a decision we didn't want to make. The vet told us that it was going to cost upward of $5,000. I don't know anyone that has that money on hand-especially the way things are right now. When the vet said she knew someone that takes in animals and will pay for their surgery, but they will find him a new home after, we agreed. He had a whole life to live so we thought it would be the best option for him. The vet said it was a woman she knew personally that raises money so she can afford to pay for what Charlie needed. We specifically asked what our options were-we were never informed that there are grants we could have applied for or even a payment plan option. The next morning while our family was already having an extremely hard time not having Charlie home with us, I received a message from a woman that works for the adoption agency we got him from. She said "we got OUR dog back. How dare you surrender him because he needed surgery. I have placed you in the do not adopt list. You do not deserve another animal." I did not know that I would be discriminated against by this adoption agency because my family is unable to immediately afford a surgery of that cost. Especially when resources that could have helped were never told to us. If that is the case, then I suppose the agency should be looking further into everyone's finances before they are able to adopt. I was unaware that money is more important than being able to provide a loving home. I feel I was lied to by the vet about where he was going. I feel that the options that were given to us by the vet were misleading and information that could have helped us was hidden from us. We want nothing more than to have Charlie back home with us. I will NEVER recommend Uxbridge Animal Hospital to another person again.

Security was super helpful with visitors finding patients. Due to the overcrowding atmosphere it made it uncomfortable for patients. Especially about discussing medical concerns in the hallway. After several weeks of "rehab and care" my father died, still unable to move much or eat at all less than 2 months after discharge. I have goats, sheep and an ornery pig and the ability to have them available 24/7 and within driving distance is a godsend on so many levels and has saved the lives of several of my animals when time was a critical factor. To have a large animal veterinarian nearby is such good fortune in a career that turns out primarily small animal veterinarians. Whenever one of my goats is down (about 95% of my calls!), and it always turns out to be something freaky-deaky, it's a huge practical, hands-on learning experience as they are all teaching their students at the same time (there's a rotation of Tufts students that do stints working at the clinic in the latter time as a vet student). Even when there's no students involved (usually an emergency weekend call), the vets are in teach mode and it's a blessing of abundant knowledge that they are able to give you. They're practical while also being empathetic to emotional situations. I do very much appreciate all of them, but Dr. Sanchez, Dr. White, Dr. King and Dr. Wilkinson are the veterinarians I have built best a repertoire with -- they've seen me at my worst, my most stressed emergencies and my critters with the weirdest and extremely varied and changing symptoms. Whether it's a goat with a food allergy (ahem, Penny), a goat kid with a limp (that would be Lulu), a goat with her mammary tissue expelling from her udder (Elphie-the-wonder-goat) or a goat that hasn't eaten in a week, retaining fluid and running fevers (I'm looking at you Epie -- stop eating pokeweed) - because it's almost ALWAYS a goat problem - they're there for me and my animals and I'm so very, very grateful. Or just a couple miles from the pike. Limited parking at the entrance for handicap and some charging spots. Usually those are taken so you have to go to the lower parking spot and walk up a ton of stairs. There's also the option to valet which is $12 or only $4 if you have a handicap placard. To get to the lab/imaging location, when entering turn right after the check-in station, then go straight to the end of the hall and then left. You'll see a wooden desk on your right to check in. There's a small waiting room there, but also a larger room across the hall. They're not a lot of phlebotomy stalls, but they move pretty quickly. Staff are friendly and efficient. This is a good option for getting labs vs driving into Boston.
