We were greeted at the door by the manager, who was very welcoming. The staff was accommodating and friendly. The food was fresh and delicious. The restaurant was very clean. We were pleased that they were open on the 4th of July, as few local restaurants were open. Great lunch! read more

Horribly unsanitary!! This is the 2nd Panera I've been to that has acted in this manner. I was at the counter and a lady walked off the dining room floor with gloves on and asked if I wanted to order something from the cafe. "Yes, I'd like a sourdough bread bowl". She did not take her gloves off and continued to get my loaf. Disgusting. read more

It was my second time at this location and I really enjoyed it. The staff was very friendly, including the young lady manager. There was an issue with my discount on the app but they were able to solve it at the register. Food was fresh and very good. We will definitely be back while in the area. read more

Saw two managers help a young female trainee @ register. First male manager helped trainee get back on track very kindly. A few minutes later, a female manager could tell trainee was flustered so she redirected trainee to check trash and wipe tables. Very kind gestures. read more

A few years ago the Menu changed at Panaera. Every time I have been there since the quality has also changed. And prices increased and sizes decreased. I am very disappointed. We gave it another chance and it was awful. Caesar salad was more like iceberg lettuce and croutons. They give you 1 small half filled cup of dressing. They were sold out of all the breads except ciabatta. The sandwich was just 1 little piece of meat and some melted cheese. Go back to the old menu and the old portions. I'm am not sure if I will be returning unless I hear of changes. read more

They need to be more stocked. Asked for tomato soup and they didn't have it... got a salad and they didn't have some of the items that go on it. Our grilled cheese sandwiches were burnt inside and outside. The salad I got had lettuce that was wilting and getting brown. read more

Eventually pulled up to the window and the general manager, bald overweight older guy, told us we weren't sitting there waiting for 10 minutes. Kept denying it and didn't want to help us and then cut me off when speaking and I said never mind, so he slammed the windows shut on us. My wife and I visited this restaurant on 7/18 around 1:00 in the afternoon. My wife spent $25.00 by herself on a meal. I went next door and grabbed a burger and milkshake at a different establishment. While we were sitting outside at a table with our dog , the Panera manager came out and told us that we had to leave because I was eating a burger from a different place. There was nobody else at the outside tables until the manager and one of his employees came out and sat down. If we both had sandwiches from a different place I would understand but we spent $25.00 , don't you think that covers a seat charge? Other employees appeared to be nice. One employee offered our dog a treat. We won't be back to this location as long until there's a change in management. read more

I love Panera Bread. We actually drove from Petoskey just to eat there. All of their food is absolutely amazing. I took my mother here for the first time and she loved it. I was super excited that this location was finally open after their construction from the tornado that hit Gaylord last year. I'm so glad they are back in business. The store was clean. The staff was very friendly. Our cashier was named Marilyn and she was great. I felt very welcomed. She asked if I had their rewards card and was apart of their sip club; which I did have rewards and redeemed one of them for a free pastry. With that I got the delicious cinnamon roll. She told us what options we had to choose from far as a side with our meal. (Apple, yogurt, chips, or a baguette) We received our food quickly. The manager was walking around asking everyone how things were. He also had great customer service. Everything was great and we will definitely be back. read more

Another chain with consistent food and the staff is great. My gripe comes with allowing unmasked people into the lobby. Yes, I know, some people feel strongly one way or another. I personally know ten people that have died horribly from this disease. I will be back when people are asked to wear a mask. read more

The manager needs to stop yelling at customers. They need to disconnect the electric board that says your order is being processed and your order is done. The board says your order is done and you ask and the manager yells and says we will call you when it's ready. Just close the restaurant and fix everything from the tornado damage. If you are open, travelers expect food and good service. read more

I ordered two large coffees black with cream and sugar on the side and there was no one in line, it was the longest transaction. Seriously, it was like 7 minutes. I had to repeat over and over. First trip they missed 2 items, today they put hot items next to and on top of cold salad, making it warm and slightly slimy. Then they threw bagels and baguettes directly on top of food containers, not in separate small bags or in any wrappers. Too much money for this carelessness! read more

I start out by pulling in there's a long line, we wait for a good 20 minutes then finally order, once we order it's as if the workers are deaf, and 18 dollars for a turkey sandwich a cup of soup and a tea... once we pulled up we waited for 10 minutes at the window, and our food was cold! When I left manager approached me, I asked him if all his employees were high, he acknowledged the girl was high then said he wasn't sure about the rest of the employees. This spot is our usual pick when we drive from the upper peninsula. Sometimes it's awesome, other times it's a real disappointment (out of lots of ingredients, giving us the complete wrong order etc). Today though, I had a chicken Baja grain bowl and I was BLOWN away at how good it was. So was the plum ginger hibiscus tea! My husbands steak and arugula sandwich was also delicious today. I've had the turkey chili, salads and soup here. The pumpkin soup was good but not as warm as it should be. The bread is great and the coffee was average. The girls at the counter were super sweet and very patient with me taking forever to decide what I wanted. The cleaning lady came by and chatted with me for a bit too. the only thing going for this panera gaylord location is the bread and pastries. every single meal we've ever had here has been a total rip off! a salad here is $13.00 and they do not put a sufficient amount of chicken in it to make it worth what you pay!!!! the chicken soup to go does not have enough chicken in it!! no one wants to pay big bucks for just broth!!!! the steak in the sandwich is so thin you can see through it! they also rip you off at the drive through! most of the employees seem like they're high!!! they always forget to put an item in the bag so you have to go back and get mad at them! this location needs serious help! their tea tastes gross! like it's been sitting for a week! my fish tank water tastes better than this! they always seem understaffed and poorly trained! if you love to be aggravated and ripped of go here!! read more

I ordered off of the You pick 2 menu. 1/2 of a Steak and White cheddar sandwich which was priced at $5.99. Plus a cup of soup for an additional charge. The food tasted good, but I've never had a skimpier sandwich. It was more like flavored bread. Do NOT eat here if you have a food allergy. Don't chance it. We made it very clear that I have a severe onion allergy. Asked if the cheddar broccoli soup had onion in it. The girl working said no. I asked how she knew. She replied, 'because I eat it all the time'. She never did check to see. I ordered it - but NEVER received it. I also ordered a sandwich that she guaranteed had no onion. Probably my first poor Panera Bread experience. We are fans of Panera where we live, so felt that it was a safe, healthier option on our way home from up north. However, we accidentally walked in during closing (door remained unlocked), so we were oblivious to the time (8:00). The manager walked it swiftly and started complaining to employees that they were going to be there "all night". However, it was only 5 minutes after their closing and people were wrapping up. We were going to eat outside to not interfere with their closing process. I set my full water cups on one of the tables outdoors and went to go check on our dog in the car briefly. By the time I came back, he manager had emptied our cups in the drain. I mentioned they were mine and they just said "I thought they were just left out here". He then proceeded to go inside and lock all the outdoor doors. I get it, they were closing, but perhaps they should be slightly kinder to returning customers. We will probably be visiting other places on our way through upon our next trip through Gaylord. read more

Worst Panera I've ever been to, and I frequent Panera so I have reasonable expectations. I live in Gaylord and the aren't many options for more affordable fresh quick service restaurants, which is why I've returned here several times with family over the course of a year. Food quality and preparation is especially substandard at this location, which makes Panera's higher prices unreasonable. Hot foods served tepid -cold. Coffee had run out on all my past visits, the only upside to waiting for the refill was the best (freshest) coffee I've ever had at a Panera. Each visit, during not especially busy weekend mornings, breads have to be swapped in menu items because they were sold out . Counter service is all kinds of unpleasant and indicative of the whole experience here. A surprisingly large staff for all the problems this place unfortunately has. I think you're better off elsewhere in Gaylord. read more

Do yourself a favor, go to 5 guys next door. We were in town for a Distric Varsity Volleyball game. I work in food service so I completely understand the feeling of seeing 12 families walk through the door at the same time. Luckily for them, there wasnt many people in there as we were after the lunch rush and before dinner. The girls taking our orders were fantastic with big smiles and friendly faces. After that, it completely went down hill. We were the last family to order so as I was watching Lyric deliver everyones food with a scowl on her face completely acting like we were inconveniencing her by showing up today and spending over $700 collectively within a half an hour, it started to leave a bad taste in my mouth. As she dropped our food off, the caesar salad that should have been plain had chicken on it. The order of chicken tortellini was dropped off with cold chicken that looked and tasted like it came out of a can. I brought it up to the window, and as I did this, I kindly asked Lyric if the next time she came by, if she could possibly muster up a smile for the guests that'd be great. One of the items that we ordered didnt even show up for 15 minutes after everyone elses food. Upon leaving I spot 2, not 1, but 2 managers walk out of the back. Ummmm if I had a team show up and spend that much money at my establishment, you better believe my butt would be in the dining room thanking them for choosing us and asking if everything was okay. If my cooks heard a guest come and physically ask an employee to quit glaring at her group, they would have immediately found a manager to fill them in. Lyric, I'm sorry if you had a bad day, but you made ours absolutely horrible and do not deserve to work in the front of the house if you cant put a smile on your face. read more

This is the WORST managed restaurant I have ever been to. They were out 6 main ingredients, the sandwiches and meals were prepared with half of the volume compared to other locations. Out of hot water and coffee for more than 15min. The tables were not self clearing so there were 6-8 tables that needed to be cleared at all times. I like this restaurant chain. But was disappointed in the food at this location. My husband had chicken and rice soup which was like warm. My four cheese grill cheese sandwich which didn't seem like there was four cheese on it and was cool not hot for a grill cheese. And the blood orange lemonade was not tasty at all. read more
