I would not recommend this practice. Not only did I receive significantly better care after transferring to Johns Hopkins, but it wasn't until I left this office that I realized how much higher the standard of care could be elsewhere. Looking back, I have concerns about the thoroughness, organization, and overall management of this practice. To make matters worse, I recently received a bill for services from more than a year ago that apparently had never been submitted to my insurance and therefore never applied to my deductible. Shortly afterward, I received another delayed bill from the end of last year. This level of billing disorganization is on par with the care they provide. When I called the phone number listed on the bill to get clarification, I was told that "unfortunately, you have to call a different number". No one seemed able to help or take ownership here. Overall, my experience has been disappointing. Between the quality of care and the ongoing billing problems, I wish I had never step foot in this practice. read more

The office staff was disappointing, though the rest of the team was excellent. After visiting the ER for a severe kidney stone, I was told I needed a procedure within a week. However, the office initially scheduled me for December, even though I had already been in pain for two weeks. After I expressed my concerns, they moved it to the following week.I was also surprised that an infection was missed during my visit, which I only discovered four days later. The lack of organization was concerning.The procedure staff, on the other hand, were professional and reassuring, which helped balance the experience. Unfortunately, when I later called about feeling unwell, the person who returned my call was dismissive and unkind. While some members of the team were wonderful, these negative interactions have left me reluctant to return, and I plan to change doctors. read more

Very interesting visit. Communication from office staff is a ZERO, Providers a FIVE, Nurse's care five. The provider asked that a procedure be scheduled asap, that translated to 3mos later? After multiple follow up calls the procedure was scheduled within a week. No packet sent and no instructions given. Then a call came a day prior saying stop eating at 1200pm, it was now 2pm. Coming the next day all was good with staff providing the procedure. Yet again the office staff reminded the those waiting she didn't know anything and was trying to figure it out. In Anne Arundel hospital, discharged after 5 weeks and F/U appt recommended for 1-3 days. Call to make an appointment and the earliest they could give me was October. Mind you I was discharged on August 31st. They are answering. Service is horrible. They have to keep getting off and checking with people to see if that's okay. read more

Great customer service. They are very patient, professional and kind. My husband was extremely nervous with the recent procedure and was overwhelmed with anxiousness. The staff assured him he would be ok, everything was pain free and they allowed him to get a light anesthesia of laughing gas to help. After an appt. in august I had a few questions for Dr. McGeagh. I made multiple calls to the office # and always got the call center. Simple requests for a call back apparantly were not relayed to the office. Someone from the call center would get back to me and say that they were calling about my appt. request. All i wanted was a 60 second talk with the doctor. Twice I went to the website 's question/comment area and sent messages and twice these were ignored. Md. I had to have a cystoscopy on 7/31/2023. Dr. Zhou who did this procedure was nothing short of amazing. He was polite professional and informative about everything he was doing. He did his very best to make sure I was comfortable at all times. Also, the nurse that was with Dr. Zhou, Sylvia was just as amazing. She was right next to me when I got my cystoscopy which made me feel very comfortable and at ease. They made a great team, and I was very satisfied with everything from start to finish. read more

I was truly impressed by this place. Normally I wouldn't rave to the world that I went to a urologist but it's part of life and growing old / so we all need to do it sometime. But anyway, this place is HUGE but efficient and has a lot of help and staff! When you arrive there are multiple waiting rooms so choose the correct one. They don't leave you waiting long before getting your information while sitting in a semi-private booth. They asked for my SSN which I don't like. I did not wait more than 15 min for my appt and the doctor was very prompt, friendly and listened very well. I really liked him. read more

When I arrived early for my appointment, the receptionist told me that since the staff is at lunch, I should come back in 1/2 hour. In addition, for some stupid reason, they can't set up a time for my procedure -- they only give the date. I was told that they will call me the day before the procedure with the time to have its done. This is very inconvenient for my ride to schedule her day. Apparently, Anne Arundel Urology only cares about their convenience and not the patient's. read more

Top physicians, PA''s, nurses and administrative staff. Have had just about every doc there perform a kidney stone procedure on me. They are very knowledgeable, professional, and don't take themselves too seriously when talking to patient. Meaning they are all proficient but not stuffy. Dr. McDermott Jr. is my main physician but I have a high degree of confidence in the entire staff. An added plus is many procedures can be performed in their on-site operating room avoiding all the red tape required when using Luminis facilities. read more

I had an appointment scheduled at the AAEurlogy Office on Ridgley Ave for Friday, February 16, 2024. At the time I made they appointment the staff asked I bring all the labs, MRI's and x-rat I had obtained to date. I also completed an extensive 11 page Medical History, with all current meds and past medical history. I arrive a half hour early, as requested, but had all the paperwork completed. I was weighed and blood pressure taken after I was moved to the exam room. Dr. Cung entered the room, shook my hand and then moved to the far wall where he stood for the balance of the visit. Dr. Cung made no attempt at a doctor patient relationship/communications. Dr. Cung's body language said it all, he did not move off the wall unless he was providing a medical exam. Dr. Cung stood at the wall, with his fingers wrapped around the top of a clip board the the bottom of the board in his waist belt. Then in the most "accusatory tone said, Why are you here, why do you want to see me? Needless to say, I was taken aback. I started to provide a chronology of events, starting with my hospital visit, but Dr, Cung, interrupted me, not once while I was trying to provide my case, but two or three more times.....it was obvious the visit needed to be controlled by Dr. Cung. Dr. Cung asked several questions that had already been answered in my medical history, but I answered anyway. Dr. Cung then suggested a rectal exam and he found a soft spot my prostrate gland and he also took a stool sample. Once the soft spot was found, and a biobsy recommended the appointment was over, no polite conversation no doctor patient conversation. Dr. Cung was on a mission to get away from the patient. Dr. Cung gave me a piece of papare and said he would meet me at the front desk. Dr. Cung never showed! I will not be seeing Dr, Cung for any follow up visits. read more

I was recommended to this office for treatment of a sizable kidney stone - while I have no issues nor complaints with regard to the treatment or its effectiveness, I do have to share my opinion regarding the staff... from the receptionists to the nurses and doctors. While understanding that the timing of my treatments occurred during a period of crisis in the form of the COVID-19 outbreak and the stresses that everyone is under may have some bearing, the whole experience left me feeling less like a human being and more like a nuisance. Their general demeanor is very cold and stiff...impersonal and unfeeling. Did I miss something? Does a smile cost extra? They were completely lacking in compassion and failed in my opinion even professionally - no clinical information was discussed during the removal of my stent. They just went about it as if I was a sheep getting ready to be sheared. Then I was told, "we will exit the room...you can get dressed and leave". Not one bit of empathy. Bait and switch concerns: Make sure you double check/verify with your insurance regarding actual costs of services. Someone saying they are a "preferred" provider IS NOT the same as them actually being one. Also, was told to pay $$$$$ I found out just before a surgical procedure...then got two bills for amount I already paid. When I called to follow up was told to disregard late payment notifications because I had a credit on my account /?????!!! I am suspicious that there is some kiting going on.. Specialists in Unnecessary Pain, Hazard, Negligence, and Miscommunication I have read a number of positive reviews here and they all have one thing in common: everything about their procedure went right the first time. To be honest, my experience with AA Urology was initially very similar to what these reviewers described. No one was rude to me or had a poor bedside manner. Yes, everyone on staff did a great job of setting up my consultation and then getting me into the operating room. But what if there were complications after the procedure? Here's a first-hand account and it's not for the squeamish. I went in for a UroLift implant - a simple, minimally invasive procedure. Everything seemed fine afterwards, so the doctor saw no need to prescribe any pain medication or to leave a catheter in. He sent me home with two pages of discharge instructions, including phone numbers to call if I encountered any problems during or after business hours. The first day after the procedure I experienced a tremendous amount of burning pain so I called the first number. The lady who answered - after I navigated an overly-complicated list of phone prompts - asked me to describe and rate the pain on scale of 1 to 10. I answered 9.5 and she said she would contact the doctor and get back to me. I never got a call back. Turns out my doctor was on call that afternoon. So does that mean all of his patients are out of luck during those hours? Actually, no. The request should have gone to his nurse practitioner instead but the lady forgot to do that. And two or three hours later, she went home for the day, apparently unaware that no one got my request. Really? They do keep a log of all calls. Does nobody check it before they leave for the day? It's more likely that a patient who is out of sight is out of mind. That night the pain had gotten even worse so I called the off-hours number. The answering service paged the on-call doctor and he did call me back. He pulled my chart and said he would send a prescription to my pharmacy. I also told him that I was very concerned because my stream had slowed down considerably during the past few hours. "Probably just some inflammation," he said. So nothing to worry about? Well, you're the doctor. I woke up the next morning around 5:30 with an incredible urge to go - but couldn't. The pain was unimaginable. I called the after-hours number again. The operator said someone should call me back within 20 minutes. It didn't happen. Despite being told not to make any important decisions during the first 24 hours after receiving general anesthesia, I decided to forego giving the unresponsive AA Urology team another chance and went straight to the nearest Emergency Room. I gave the staff my details quickly and said I needed a catheter. I already knew this, not because of how comprehensive my consultation or discharge instructions from AA Urology were, but because I had read up on the procedure. They got my information quickly and efficiently, took my vitals, and rushed me to the nearest available operating room. As I waited for the nurse to return and begin treatment, the pain escalated. I couldn't stop myself from howling in pain, terrified that I was about to suffer permanent organ damage. The nurse, a doctor, and an EMT team arrived within minutes and got to work. Within about 15 or 20 minutes, they had drained 1100 ml of urine from my bladder. Believe me, you never want to know what that feels like. Then they left me for a short while to recover and I heard my phone ring. I couldn't reach my phone from the hospital bed but I found out later it was the overnight physician on call finally getting back an hour-and-a-half too late. He didn't even leave a message! About an hour later, AA Urology opened and a staffer called. By this time I had managed to get out of bed and get my phone. "How are you?" the lady asked. "I'm in the Emergency Room!" Of course, they were really sorry. And they had a meeting about it. I had to wear the catheter for about a week, which was very uncomfortable and kept me out of work much, much longer than I had expected. I was scheduled to visit a different doctor at a different AA Urology clinic on Monday the 5th for a "Void Trial" in the morning and then a bladder scan in the afternoon. When I showed up they said, "Oh, we have you scheduled for the 12th." Impossible! I didn't need a catheter for two weeks (probably should have removed it after two days). Efficiency did not improve after the apology and the meeting. Later I got an email asking me to confirm my appointment on the 12th. I clicked "Cancel" but I doubt their system recorded it. I strongly urge anyone who is reading this: never let your family jewels get within a country mile of any AA Urology office. And if you won't take my advice, then at least have a thorough "Plan B" worked out ahead of time - because they definitely won't! Now I'm hoping they won't add insult to injury by screwing up the billing too. read more

The quickest DR appointment/procedure I have ever had. I was in and out in under 30min. I had Dr. Holton who is the BEST doctor I've ever been to. Great bedside manners, nice, friendly, cordial, caring, confident in what she knows, knowledgeable, and always willing to help in whatever way she can. I know this sounds like a paid infomercial... LOL...but if you or anyone you know is in need of seeing a top notch urologist, Dr. Mara Holton is the right person to see. She is direct, but in a I know what I am doing and got your back type of way...not in an aggressive way. I have been a patient of AAUrology for several years for chronic UTIs. I saw Dr. Zagula until he retired a year ago. He was awesome. I felt he cared about me. Since then, I saw Kari Bailey once. Since 2020 I have seen Felicia who is a P.A. I have had several UTI infections and was given antibiotics. I called this morning, because I have another UTI. I was told that I had to go to either the clinic in Annapolis or a lab to have a urine test. I live in Southern Maryland. It takes me an hour to get to Annapolis. When you have an infection like this, it is very painful. Driving an hour or so is horrible for me. I guess I will have to go to Urgent Care. No compassion at all from you. I am terribly disappointed. I will have to find another urologist. read more

If you want surly doctors that have no patient relationship skills (think Cung, McGeagh), this place fills the bill again. They had one good doctor, Chasen, but he disappeared under mysterious and, as yet, unexplained circumstances. I suspect his departure had a lot in common with my opinion of the place. He couldn't stand the practice either. You have options. Use them. Just don't use this place. read more

these doctors cannot get in touch with me. when they call my phone it does nothing, not ring or go to voicemail. i also can't save there portal to my bookmarks. something is wrong with this business. they need there phones fixed. i have been to verizon twice and nothing is wrong with my phone. i wish i would have known this before i got these people. for future reference i will always check to see if the doctor i'm going to is able to contact me. the emails they sent me were all going to spam. the phone call did go thru a few times but went straight to voicemail--a voicemail i never even knew i had. there was no record of them ever calling me. this place has definetely totally stressed me out and i've only been with them for 5 weeks. i would advise anyone to check out if aa urology is able to contact them. they could NOT contact me. who wants a doctor that can't even get ahold of you. what if they needed to tell you something important. after i have my turbt procedure and follow up next week i'm done with these people. im going to chesapeake urology. i would'nt recommend this aa urology place to anyone. they are horrible!! read more

While I don't agree with the circumcision of children who can't consent, they did a great job of repairing some of the problems circumcision caused when it was done as a child. 12 hours later still no pain, and everything looks OK. Made an appointment to have a vasectomy at this clinic about 20 minutes from my house in Maryland. Unfortunately, this practice makes potential patients have to make two appointments for this simple procedure: 1-to watch a 3 minute video and then 2- to have the surgery. What they never told me was that the surgery could not be done at the location convenient to me at which I scheduled. Only afterwards was I informed the surgery would be one hour away, in Annapolis! During the video it was revealed that patients should NOT drive themselves after the surgery. Since the clinic doesn't have any transportation or shuttle for clients, in spite of the $800 cost, and I know no one in the area to drive me (new to area and wife works) it means I would have to spend $120 for round-trip taxi service. Another issue I had with this location was the looong wait from my arrival to being seen by the nurse. I mentioned it to the front receptionist and she was very snippy, telling me I was 10 minutes late to the appointment, but forgetting that I had told her I was filling out the extensive admission form in advance for 15 minutes prior to entering the clinic. I had requested to speak with the doctor who would perform my surgery, but that was forgotten when I arrived and I had to practically beg the nurse to let me speak to the doctor about this life-altering surgery. Nurse was nice, but doctor seemed annoyed that I deigned to request to meet him in advance. When I told the front desk receptionist that I would have to reconsider my appointment, she was not happy. After I paid the $$ co-pay I was charged to watch the video and meet the nurse, receptionist never said thank you so I wasn't sure if there was more for me to sign. I asked, "Are we through?" She said in a very sarcastic tone, "Oh yes, we are VERY through!" I couldn't believe how rude she was! At any rate, since the surgery would need to be performed at a locale way too far for logistic sense, I am going to have another practice do the snip-snip. Lesson learned for me but caveat emptor to others here! read more

After visiting several urology places, I found out about this place. After meeting with Dr. Schwartz, I finally found a dr that wanted to really help me. All the others had dismissed me, saying as a paraplegic to get used to my problems. Dr Schwartz was the complete opposite. He took time to listen and explain things to us. I'm a 55 year man and haven't visited several medical facilities thru my life thus far and without question this has been the most insensitive office I've ever dealt with they wouldn't not consider filling a prescription a day early , I was leaving the area for 6 months and would have like to have the medicine being you had to pick it up in person and no one else could pick it up for you that didn't give it too me ,later on a month or so i looked into how i could get this prescription well i found out i could get it thru expess scripts no one in the doctors office even looked into options last but not least thru Express scripts i would pay 6.39$ versus the 150.00 that office was charging and this went on for a year or so most other office check and see what your insurance provider covers for prescription along with co payments extremely frustrated over the overcharging and insensitivity of this office staff if you go there confirm you payments read more

Would not recommend at all. Though doctors are good, the front office staff is terrible. They never sent me any instructions prior to my procedure and called me the afternoon before at 1:50 to say I had to have my last big meal by 2 pm and take medicine I did not have. I was at work. Then scheduling a follow up procedure to remove stent and see doctor was a nightmare. The schedulers constantly have to check with the nurses and it is difficult to get an appointment. Their front office is a nightmare and rude!! Will go elsewhere for the stent removal and follow up. DO NOT GO HERE for any urology operations!!! You will regret it. read more
