I would not recommend this practice…read more Not only did I receive significantly better care after transferring to Johns Hopkins, but it wasn't until I left this office that I realized how much higher the standard of care could be elsewhere. Looking back, I have concerns about the thoroughness, organization, and overall management of this practice. To make matters worse, I recently received a bill for services from more than a year ago that apparently had never been submitted to my insurance and therefore never applied to my deductible. Shortly afterward, I received another delayed bill from the end of last year. This level of billing disorganization is on par with the care they provide. When I called the phone number listed on the bill to get clarification, I was told that "unfortunately, you have to call a different number". No one seemed able to help or take ownership here. Overall, my experience has been disappointing. Between the quality of care and the ongoing billing problems, I wish I had never step foot in this practice.

My insurance then reached out to try and figure out what the issue was. And, because my insurance doesn't pay as well as they want, the refused to see my husband unless he paid out of pocket. In the end, I don't want my husband seen by such selfish, money hungry people. I would consider looking elsewhere if you want proper care and a doctor who cares about your well being and not just how much your insurance can pay.

Essentially, you pay for the healthcare you need. This is an excellent practice for people who cannot easily afford medical insurance and are shut out of our healthcare system. For myself, I enjoy the fact that The practice is personable and accessible, and I never have a difficult time getting an appointment when I needed it. I think many more people should be considering medical practices such as evolve, yet I still do not find that many. The closest analogy is somewhere like Care first, however, Care first is less of a medical practice run by one doctor and more of a mass healthcare system. Evolve is a medical practice, with an excellent doctor, competent staff, and a pay as you go approach.

Dr. Akhmed saved my life…read more I had been given a false diagnosis by an urological oncologist at no less than Johns Hopkins. He told me that I had an advanced incurable cancer, and to "settle your affairs". I was only in my 30's, and this put my family into a huge crisis. After weeks of emergency room visits and specialists, I somehow ended up in Dr. Akhmed's office. She asked me what medications I was on, and right in front of me, pulled out a reference book and looked them up. She said that she thought I was having a rare reaction to an allergy medicine I was on and that I should stop taking all medications immediately. She was right. The allergy medicine had been causing high blood pressure and urine retention, resulting in a blocked bladder blowing up to the size of a basketball, which necessitated the emergency room visits and could have resulted in death. The other doctors I saw during the crisis gave me yet more meds which caused more side effects. Once I stopped taking the allergy meds and the high blood pressure meds, my blood pressure went down, and I never had another problem with the bladder. I am eternally grateful to Dr. Akhmed.

My appointment was set for 4:30p & I was not seen for an hour+ without forthcoming communication of what the delay was for. I had to ask at least 3 times and their response was just "trying", yet I'm sure if I used that same reason as to why I was "trying" to be on time for my appointment but was an hour late, I'm sure I would've been charged for my absence. I don't appreciate my time being dismissed, especially without communication. But to address care quality once seated in a room, was fine. The staff in that regard was attentive and quick.

While I was impressed by the professionalism and kindness of everyone I interacted with, I unfortunately received an incorrect initial diagnosis. I came in for an x-ray of my pinky finger and was initially told that there were no breaks or fractures. However, I later received a call from PA Ben confirming that a hairline fracture was detected after further review by the radiologist. I understand that medical errors can happen, but I believe it would have been beneficial to wait for the radiologist's report before providing a definitive diagnosis. Additionally, knowing about the hairline fracture, I would have appreciated the opportunity to have my finger wrapped as a precautionary measure. Despite this, I want to commend the staff for their overall care and attention. I hope this feedback can be used to improve future patient experiences. Thank you for your time and consideration." This was my experience in a nutshell. Needless to say, I won't be returning.
