The reason you see so many good reviews and flyers is because you're required to do a certain…read moreamount of marketing when you enroll. If you're looking for gentle, meditative, relaxing movement, this is absolutely not the place for you. If you require any sort of special accommodation, this is also NOT the place for you. Went to get active and also as therapy for my anxiety disorder. Despite my hearing difficulties, I was out at the back of the class next to a very loud a/c unit. Then when I was listening to some instruction, the assistant instructor came up behind me and slapped my arm because I had crossed my arms, which is a sign of disrespect (apparently). I complained to the Sifu Adams and was told that that's just the way that particular instructor does things, and I needed to get used to it.

If you're looking to REALLY learn Tai Chi and not just go to a class or try out a new thing for exercise then this is the place. It would also be great for beginners to get a great foundation here. Just make no mistake, these are is not casual classes to quickly try out something new or drop in every so often. The location is small & training is very good. Sifu Adams is very knowledgeable and seems to have a good system of instruction. The curriculum rotates though the material. Just as you begin to get the hang of something it becomes time for something new. It keeps the learning fresh and makes you responsible for your own progress. After a time it comes back around again so you can work on details and improve on it. Instruction has a direct and traceable lineage backing the methods used. Sifu Adams has been at this location about 9 years and I believe about 20 years experience himself. Certainly NOT new to what he's doing. Philosophy is health & well-being based, NOT a "fight-school", although you will learn the martial side of the art. Prices are slightly higher than I've seen elsewhere (and slightly higher than a gym), but unlike other similar school it is all inclusive. No sock it to you costs when you are ready for rank testing. Great for someone on a fixed income. The school and space are small but adequate. Training room, changing room, single bathroom, office, storage, and a waiting area. Limited parking, but more is available nearby at Rosewood Market & Publix across the street. Classes offered 6 days a week. Tai Chi Yang-style empty hand form, Tai Chi Weapons, Qi Gong, Kung Fu. Kids classes soon too.

Unfortunately I had to move from Augusta to SW Florida about 6-7 years ago. I spent about 3 years…read moretraining under Sifu Kyle, and still after so much time away I find myself thinking about moving back just to be able to rejoin. I still miss it, and I'll never be able to express how thankful I am for Sifu Kyle's guidance, and as corny as it sounds, joining this athletic club saved my life, I wish I could come back, but I'm so thankful for everything I learned there, and I still reminisce about the great people and classmates that become great friends. It actually became a way of life and I was happier than I'd even been. By the time I left I was in the best shape of my life, and I never once felt like I was working out, I was instantly accepted with positivity and enthusiasm. I learned to overcome my fears, stop my anxiety in its tracks, my depression melted away, and most importantly that I did not have any limitations in the gym, or in life. From the bottom of my heart, Thank you sir! And I can't wait until the day I get back into training with you and your team.

My 5 year old son went to this class for 3-4 weeks and was enjoying it. After this last class this…read moreweek he will not be back. There was a class of 3 students (one being my son) and the other two ran out after class and told my father that my son got in trouble in class and "was taken to the bathroom and held upside down over the toilet." He asked him on the way home what happened and he told us a bigger student was laying on him and it hurt so he pushed her off and screamed. The "instructor," Josh, THE OWNER OF THE STUDIO, then put his hands over my sons mouth and told him not to scream. My son then said he took him to the private bathroom and held him upside down over the open toilet and told not to scream and hold his breath because he was going to dunk him. Not knowing if this could possibly be true, I called the owner/"instructor" to discuss. I asked if anything happened in class today and he said no. I asked if my son got in trouble for pushing a classmate and he chuckled and said oh yeah. He said he puts them in timeout in the corner to take a break (which makes sense to me). I then asked if there is a bathroom in the room and admitted there was. I then asked if he took my son to the bathroom and he said no. I told him the other two kids in the class told us he took my son to the private bathroom. Then I told him what my son and two other children said and he responded very confrontationally and told us we were not allowed back in class and hung up the phone on me. I called the owner back and let him know I would be sharing this conversation in my review and he threated for me to come down to his gym to leave my review in person and hung up again. After I guess he calmed down and realized I wasn't just not going to come to his business again and would be letting others know of our experience with him as an "instructor" and business owner he called back 30 minutes later to try and have a conversation. After two failed attempts, I was done trying to talk to Josh and will have no further communication with him. My son continued to talk about how scared he was and embarrassed. I tried to talk with Josh to figure out what happened calmly, he responded with hostility and aggressiveness. He does not need to be left alone with any child whatsoever. I had previously recommended this studio to many friends and they were interested, we even brough another child to observe a class and she was excited. We now would never recommend this "instructor" to anyone with children. He is supposed to help teach a disciplined sport, he is far from disciplined and is very aggressive.
