The class offered by Running Stitch Fabrics was taught by Malinda Shirley. Malinda is a great teacher with an infectious positive energy, a lot of patience and knowledge. She brought a lot of samples and projects she has made. It was exciting to see the possibilities of incorporating sashiko into tote bags, quilts, placemats, etc. The quilt shop carries a wide assortment of notions, sashiko supplies, fabric, patterns, books and more. There are quite a few quilt samples hanging on the walls and on display in the windows. There is a long arm machine that you can rent after taking a basic longarm class or they offer long arm services. The owner Alice and her staff are very nice. There were popular brands with a large selection from each such as Fableism, Ruby Star Society, Sarah Hearts, etc. I ended up with some gorgeous deadstock cotton seersucker, out of my comfort zone but very special. One critique is that their bottomweight and coating section was fairly limited, but I'm assuming that they were slowly transitioning into Spring/Summer choices at that time. Everything felt high quality and intentionally selected, not at all like the big box stores. Pricing was on-par with most independent stores - not cheap, but worth it. I hear that they have sales every once in awhile so I will be on the lookout. The day I went, it was absolutely packed! The parking lot is relatively small so you might have to get lucky or circle around a few times when you visit.

However one person who might have been management was very short and demeaning to the clerks who worked there, I saw her react angrily/ demeaning and ugly at least 3 different times while I was there within less than an hour.
