2 day sleep over. This bed was comfy.

What an amazing Inn. I generally stay at Hiltons but saw this place and decided to give it a try as I was seeing family down in the area and wanted to be by the beach. I was not disappointed at all and walked away highly impressed! The staff was super friendly and the place immaculate and clean which is why I like Hiltons. This place meets or exceeds Hilton cleanliness standards for sure.. Before I forget, that bed in the picture is the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in! The place is just super nice and downstairs is a nice little self serve mini-mart for all your travel needs, snacks, ice cream and food stuff for breakfast. Rooms are nice with enough lighting to feel like home but not dark like a lot of hotels / inns are moving too. Everything was all in working order and someone mentioned noise from the elevator?!? What elevator doesn't make noise! By the way I didn't even notice it but did see that weird comment that lady made about the noise. Lastly, not only was the bed comfortable but the pillows as well. In most places, pillows are either way too soft or thin but these were perfect. I slept so damn well. What was really a treat and worth the stay is the gorgeous beach access right outside the doors!!! That alone is the reason I would come here over any other hotel/ Inn in the area. I almost felt like I was in Honolulu! Fair prices, luxurious rooms, helpful and friendly staff, and right out the door access to the beach makes this Inn worth going to over and over again. I am actually going back in March because I have a hunting trip a little further south in Paso Robles but was so impressed by this place that I reserved already. Definitely a gem of an Inn that was worth every penny!

Only picture I got of the view from our room.

We were greeted by a cheerful young man when we got there to check in. He was super friendly and very sweet. Asked us why we were here and if we had any plans etc. Made nice small talk with us and we felt welcome. Our room was so clean and simple. We did have a view of the cemetery which some people may not like but, just behind you could see the water which was nice. The hotel was one of the calmest and quietest I have ever stayed in. Every staff member we saw and interacted with was so nice and made sure we were having a nice stay. The room was simple but, very clean. They provided hand soap & lotion by the sink. The shower had body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. They also provided you with ear plugs and pre packaged q-tips. We stayed 3 nights in total and would definitely come back and stay next time we are in that area.

On the second night of our road trip, my husband and I chose the Inn at Moss Landing Point due to location.  Check in was a little odd.  The guy at the counter couldn't help check us in.  My husband had to check in on his phone using the link that was sent to him after he made the reservation.  The lobby is large and they offer so many items for sale.  My son loved Shamu when he was little, and they had a baby Shamu on a key ring.  I bought it for his Christmas stocking.  He's 37, but he still gets a stocking!  I had to check out the coffee machine that I read so much about.  It was great!  They provide several flavored creamers, a wide variety of teas, and honey.  Our view was of the cemetery, which was a little strange.  The room itself was nothing to write home about.  It was clean, but the bed was small and the TV was tiny.  There is a fridge in the room and a microwave in the lobby.  There wasn't an iron or ironing board in the room.  They provide shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner.  We had a comfortable stay.

This is the view in the graveyard side - half the rooms.

Not a bad motel. Well apportioned rooms, albeit with overly soft beds. But why did the developer pick this spot abutting Highway One, squeezed between that busy road and a cemetery? There are plenty of reasons to stay here if you don't mind those two things - but they are important to some.

We stayed in the newer Boathouse, in the Castaway Room on the right end, ground floor. The privacy and quiet were fantastic! The couples shower feels amazing and overlooks the river. We saw lots of birds and a gorgeous sunset and sunrise colors. Nature sounds enveloped us, as well as the sage fragrance of the garden. The bed was super comfortable, good support, and new. The center room looked like it had slightly more view and the bed was lower to the floor. Being on the end gave us more privacy and zero noises from other rooms. We liked being higher off the ground because we could see a little farther from there. The caretakers came on site to take care of the gardens and kitchen and checked in with us to make sure our stay was flawless. The main building is an old historic building and garden so expect quaint and period details. The nautical artifacts were amazing. There is a fantastic coffee shop called The Power Plant 5 minutes away for coffee, smoothies, avocado toast, beer and snacks, so we didn't mind having just the basic coffee and tea in the room. For us, the quiet, the views, the energy and location were perfect! If you stay at Captain's Inn, you can walk to the coffee shop, visit the shops in town, eat at the fantastic marina fresh seafood restaurants, and walk to the two touring places that take you to see the otters on kayak. We used Kayak Connect with was great, very easy and great guides. This is the closest and best place to stay to see the otters.

Despite there being nobody around, I was required to wait more than 10 minutes while the receptionist Renee had a lovely heart to heart chat with someone on the phone. Even though there was no reason to do that because I arrived before the phone call happened. I was then given a room with nice view of the parking lot thought the hotel was empty. The rooms are on the small side but freshly renovated. It was really like a glorified Motel 6 room. Not much sound proofing and I was glad I remembered earplugs. PLEASE READ THIS REVIEW BEFORE MAKING A RESERVATION -- IT MAY SAVE YOU THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS…read more If you are considering booking an ocean-view room at Post Ranch Inn between May, June, July, or August, I strongly encourage you to do extensive research about Big Sur's seasonal coastal fog before spending your money. Based on our experience, I would never book an ocean-view room during these months again. We paid nearly $10,000 for two nights in one of the resort's premium ocean-view accommodations because the breathtaking ocean views shown throughout their website were the main reason we chose this property. Unfortunately, during our entire stay, the ocean view was completely hidden by dense fog. We never saw the spectacular view that was advertised and pictured online. What disappointed us most was the lack of transparency. The website showcases beautiful, clear ocean views but does not adequately prepare guests for the possibility that the view may be completely obstructed for an entire stay during certain times of the year. If guests are paying thousands of dollars specifically for an ocean-view room, they deserve clear information about the seasonal risk of persistent coastal fog so they can make an informed decision. Throughout our stay, we repeatedly asked staff whether the fog would clear. We were consistently told that it would likely clear within a few hours. Unfortunately, that never happened. The fog remained throughout our stay, and we never got to enjoy the ocean view we paid a premium for. What made this even more frustrating was that, after repeatedly being told by multiple staff members that the fog would clear soon, one employee later told us that they were not supposed to tell guests that the weather was expected to remain the same for several days and that these foggy conditions are common during this time of year. According to that employee, this type of weather often persists throughout much of the summer season. I cannot independently verify that statement, but if that information was accurate, it raises serious concerns about transparency. Guests spending thousands of dollars for an ocean-view room deserve honest information about the likelihood of actually seeing the ocean during their stay. The room itself also had maintenance issues. The bar sink was clogged, and the shower valve/faucet was loose and repeatedly fell while being used. We reported both problems, but neither was repaired during our stay. Staff apologized, but no one came to address the issues. For a property charging close to $5,000 per night, I expected much better communication, transparency, maintenance, and overall value. I fully understand that the weather is beyond the hotel's control. However, what is within their control is how honestly they communicate the risk of seasonal fog to potential guests. Had we known there was a realistic possibility of spending our entire stay looking at a wall of fog instead of the Pacific Ocean, we would have chosen different travel dates, a different room category, or a different destination altogether. The property itself is beautiful, but based on our experience, the value did not come close to justifying the cost. If an ocean view is important to you, think very carefully before booking an ocean-view room during the late spring and summer months.

Unfortunately for us, Post Ranch Inn was one of our first stops on an eight-day coastal road trip…read more Unfortunate because they set a standard no other property or restaurant was going to match. I knew that going in. It was still starker than I expected. Start with the property. When that is the view off your deck, why go anywhere else? Stunning doesn't cover it. We hiked much of the grounds and every turn delivered something new. The kind of place that makes you slow down without even trying. Then the restaurant. Everything was perfect -- service, quality, execution. Much of the food sourced on property or from the surrounding community. My wife declared the salad the best she'd ever had. High praise for a salad. High praise, full stop. Special shout out to our server Yasmany and bartender Thomas -- both exceptional. What struck me most was how effortless the entire staff made it look. These are people who deal with guests from around the world, all arriving with high expectations of a high-end experience. And yet nothing felt forced. Nobody appeared to be trying to impress us. It was just perfect service, perfectly delivered. That's the rarest thing in hospitality. Highlight of the trip. Hands down. And I suspect, never to be repeated.

Unfortunately it wasn't the service I expected to receive from a Hilton property…read more Upon arriving at 3pm for check-in, we were advised the room was not ready and check-in is now 4pm. That was a bit frustrating as we have a 10-month old we just drove with for a couple hours. Either way, we went a couple blocks down the road and had some pizza while we waited for the room. Now for the room, when we arrive, the door to the full-size refrigerator was open. Therefore, the refrigerator was not cold at all and the groceries we brought would have to stay in the cooler until the refrigerator became cold enough. Upon my investigation, when the door to the hotel room opens, the handle briefly attaches to the door of the refrigerator, pulling that open as the heavy room door shuts. Voila - Sherlock Holmes has cracked the case! HA! Bathroom - a couple of issues here; the Water pressure - there was none! Also, there was no bathtub for the baby which we requested a room with a bathtub. Let's talk space and beds. It had two queen-sized beds, room was spacious enough for us 3 adults and baby. There was a couch which pulled out into a sleeper. Comfortable? NOT IN THE LEAST! The mattress on both beds seemed like they were a decade old and all you could feel were the springs, no soft comfort. The bed nearest the window loss it's springiness as you just sank right into the middle. Whoa! But I guess if you like super sinking springy beds, this would be to your liking. The kitchenette; you'll have to ask for a hot plate if you want to cook in your room. At first we were looking everywhere for it, because they don't mention upon check-in that they need to actually give one to you upon request. Also, the microwave above the sink was not working at all. No power at all, and upon our attempts to reach Yessenia at the front desk for assistance, they never picked up. So, again, Sherlock Holmes to the case and with the use of the ottoman to climb upon and check above the cabinetry, we found the appliance was not plugged in. Sheesh, these guys are making me work for my stay. Sherlock solves another case at this location. The pool area could be smelled from the hallway downstairs; I understand the use of chlorine, but whew it was strong. The pool was fine, not heated but not freezing. The hot tub had so much bubbles I wasn't sure what was going on in there, I did not attempt to make use of it. The bbq grill outside for use was nice, however, they do not clean it, so clean it yourself before use. Also, the bbq cooking utensils are also used by other guests, so again, be mindful of what you're cooking with. Breakfast is from 6am-9am in the morning and it was okay. They offer three types of cereal, boiled eggs, there's a waffle maker, bagels, muffins, toast, oatmeal, usually a type of protein (bacon, chicken, or sausage), and biscuits. They have regular milk, almond, and oat milk, as well as juice, coffee, and tea. I recommend not going too late because they will not make anymore food by the 8:30 mark. The woman said, no that's it, just what's left - which was cold eggs, waffle, and muffins. Yikes! Oh, also this is not a baby friendly place. There are outlets all over the place that are not guarded. Just a helpful hint for parents out there. Unfortunately the check-out process with Yessenia was not great. She appeared to be annoyed with a customer before me and continued on with me. I advised her that the customer service she was providing was not how a person in her position should be acting. Maybe she was having a bad day, but if that's the case, take a break and switch out with someone else. So would I stay here again, definitely not. Paying nearly $500 for this type of service and room is not worth it.
