Seems to be prepared a long time ago and heated up when ordered. Soy sauce or oiled chilies was very limited and had to be asked for when you are out. They are saving money on soy sauce i guess. It's hard enough to find authentic Thai cuisine in NW Houston, and this place doesn't make it any easier. Being Cambodian (a country south of Thailand, for the geographically-challenged), I've grown up eating a lot of dishes that Cambodians and Thai share. Things like papaya salad, larp, and red curry are like comfort foods to me. I came here to catch up with a friend who enthusiastically told me she frequents this Thai restaurant. The excitement caught to me and I thought, "Can it be? An authentic Thai restaurant?" Nope....nope...it sadly, can't be. The papaya salad here didn't carry the balance of sour, spicy, and salty. It was pure fire with some lime juice squeezed onto shreds of papaya, cabbage, and carrot? Definitely not even the right ingredients used. I sadly ate it so as to not waste and hoped the panang curry would redeem the restaurant. When my curry came out, I was sad to find that it was not going to change my mind about Anothai. The beef was SO overcooked and hard that I had to chew each bite laboriously. There was entirely too much curry broth and not enough meat or vegetables.Yet again, they missed the playful balance of salty, sweet, spicy. The curry was overly sweet and I felt like shouting "Hallelujah!" every time I found a vegetable or slice of beef bob to the top. The only reason I didn't give Anothai 1 star was because the mango and sticky rice was about the only authentic thing I ate here. Then again, how can you mess up slicing fresh mango and putting it on a bed of sticky rice and coconut milk? read more

This place is horrific. I have no idea how people would even assign a rating greater than one star. The proteins are very dry. If you enjoy beef jerky in your noodles or flavor-less chicken in your fried rice, than this is the place for you. Otherwise, look the other way. I don't think there is anything redeemable about this place. The service isn't good. My waitress brought my whole table the wrong orders. The decor is as simple as 4 walls, tables and chairs. The pineapple fried rice is AMAZING!!! Seriously, you MUST get it. I've also had the chicken pad Thai, but it's better the second day after you pour all of the chili sauce on it and refrigerate overnight (or maybe that's just me; I like the extra flavor/spice). My husband loves the pas see ew and won't order anything else :) A good neighborhood spot, but you'll find tastier spots in the city's ethnic neighborhoods. The only downside is the service. So lets just start here.... My mom ate here with a friend and brought me some leftovers of the Anothai Rice deal, and I was like whoa this is the best thing I've ever tasted. I kept saying I wanted to dine here just have never had the actual time to do so. Pros: The food is decent. There are plenty of great Thai food joints in Houston. But, for Willowbrook area, this place would get 4 stars. I had their Seafood Paradise, where as my friends had the Yellow and Red Curry. All seemed to think that the food was good, nothing extraordinary. Cons: The service is terrible. It takes forever to get the order in, to get the order on the table, but surprisingly it took forever for the checks to come back. I'm no expert on Thai food, but I like this place. Fresh food, good service and rarely crowded - though we usually just do take out. Pad Kee Mao is our dish of choice. Tomato, basil, broccoli, carrots, noodles with your choice of meat in a garlic sauce. Very unique taste combination. One word of caution though, spiciness is inconsistent. You can order mild, medium or hot - but there's no telling what you'll actually get. Of course this just adds another layer of excitement to the meal. Just keep your schedule open the next day. If you're in the mood for something fresh tasting that is different than your normal Asian fare, give it a try. read more

Extremely disappointed in the service. Walked into the restaurant and wasn't greeted by anyone just saw women staring right at us through the kitchen door but not acknowledging us whatsoever. When the woman finally came out she looked at us like we were dumb. When we finally ordered the food came completely cold. We ordered the teriyaki beef and all we got was a giant plate full of rice and four thin strips of beef. Anothai fried rice was okay but came out cold and was extremely disappointing. This was so embarrassing for me as I brought my uncle from New York to try out the thai food because previously the food was so delicious. Horrific, abusive service. Lots of negative reviews about abusive, rude service at Louetta Rd location of Anothai on Yellow Pages too. My issue was that a friend and I called them at 4:45 PM on Dec 12 for 2 entries. We said we'd be there in 10 minutes, but instead got there in 5 minutes. We decided we would stay and eat since we got there early. No one else was in restruant and now I understand why! We were told there was no way we could eat there because we were call ins! No amount of discussion changed the mind of the hostess / manager. She told us to leave and we asked what would happen to our food and she replied "She would throw our food away!" What a waste of their time. She would not accept our money. I will never recommend this place and will tell everyone I know to avoid it. Horrible, abusive, horrific treatment of customers. read more

We come often to Anothai although We won't be anymore. We normally spend $50-75 on takeout. We have come for years and the food and service use to be excellent but now it is hit or miss. Our last few take out orders were not correct. One we ordered and were charged for a shrimp entree but didn't receive it. Tonight we arrived at 9:17 with a bottle of wine in hand and the waitress said it's 9:30, we are only taking to go orders, we were really busy today and the kitchen is ready to close. I can't vouch for any of the entrees, rice, or noodle dishes, but I can tell you that Anothai Cuisine sells my new favorite spring rolls in the area! I've been on the prowl for fresh spring rolls (the non-fried variety) that aren't stuffed with chicken and pork that's been stir-fried in a sweet and greasy sauce. I enjoy stir-fried fresh spring rolls as well, but at times I'm in the mood for a more simple and humble roll without a clue where to find them in the Spring area. I don't require sparkle and pizzazz all the time! Now that Anothai has entered the picture, I have a go-to place for spring rolls. 2 orders for $4.95 each and I have a cheap-ish, filling meal. Each order comes with two spring rolls, and there's only one variety of fresh spring rolls: a combo of chicken and shrimp. The chicken inside isn't covered in any sweet or spicy sauce and the shrimp is simple and tastes fresh. No old shrimp inside of these rolls! The vegetables within epitomize "freshness," and there's just the right amount of vermicelli inside. Simple, light, and delicious-- that sums up Anothai's spring rolls in three words. The dipping sauce is stellar as well! Like I said, this review is solely for the restaurant's fresh spring rolls. I have never sampled any of Anothai's other dishes. read more

My noodles were stuck together like a brick. My entree was bland and dry. This is my third time trying them and they've failed every time.

I was looking for Long John's Silver...but since I couldn't find it, I stopped here trying to find something Vegetarian to eat for the day. Their lunch specials are from $7.95-8.95. I ordered the Tofu Pad Thai medium spicy (I didn't think you could make it spicy!) It came with a side of soup and a crispy spring roll. The soup was like a chicken tom yum soup, but goodness, it just tasted like straight up salt soup. I took about 2 sips and that was the end of that for me! Can't go too wrong with crispy spring rolls. The pad thai was a big portion with chunks of cubed tofu. It had a kick to it...but I think I'm more used to this dish just being sweet. Overall, just an ok dish. Place is clean...customer service is eh...took about a minute or two before someone noticed me to seat me. Would I be back? Probably not. read more

Good lunch option near work. They have a restaurant.com coupon that makes it come out to about $7 per person including tax and tip which is awesome. I always get the green curry here which is great and comes with a soup and eggroll that are a little less great. Something cool I discovered is that they have a vegetarian mock duck option that is actually pretty good...not quite the same texture as real duck but the flavor is on par. second time around was not as nice. My wild curry came out and it was basically a soup with rice so I sent it back and asked for the standard Panang curry which came out exactly the same. A bowl of soup with some peppers. This changed my whole perspective on my new favorite spot. We also ordered Thai iced coffee for the second time and the first time was delicious but the second was lacking cream and sugar. It basically tasted like coffee with ice cubes in it. No good. We stopped here in a whim because the place we were going to originally wasn't open. Glad we did. It's not the most ornate place I ever saw, but it's not like the paint and decor ever had an impact in the taste of the food. We started with some chicken satay, which was excellent. Great char on the meat, but still juicy and tender. Peanut am sauce is great. Main courses were chicken fried rice, chicken with peanut sauce and broccoli, and a shrimp Pad Thai. Across the board the food was excellent. Shrimp wasn't overcooked, which is easy to do. Fried rice was really good. My wife commented that she didn't even need soy sauce for it (which says a lot for the flavor of the rice). We'll definitely come back. read more

This is the 3rd Anothai we've tried. Portion wise, the one in Cypress is the best, but as far as service goes, this place would win my nomination. As always, we ordered the thai tea. So good, especially on a hot summer day. The catfish fillet was just right for spice level, but a bit thin. Presentation was beautiful for the volcano shrimp, came in a foil wrap shaped as a lotus flower, coconut creamy. The only thing we didn't really care for was the calamari, a little rubbery and heavy on the coating. All in all, still a very satisfying meal. read more

I came here a few times before for take out and dine in. I've tried pad thai, pad see ew, and red curry. I normally get the red curry and it's delicious. My younger brother alternates between the other two, and he seemed to enjoy it. I haven't been there for a while, so I decided to stop in today for takeout. I ordered green curry, and it was very lacking in flavor and creaminess. I can't tell if it is just the green curry that is bad or the curry is no longer good because I have not been there in a long time. On the bright side, they do put a lot of meat..... I have been to Anothai 4 times total in 2015. I have kept coming back because the food is very good, BUT, I will probably not return due to the deplorable quality of service. We have been served only by 2 different waitresses. One is plain rude. The other is oblivious and unattentive. We went there on Sunday 8/23 and I had to get up to have some attention given to our table. She was chitchatting with the "manager" and the other waitress while sipping tea... When I was given the check, they had already added 18% gratuity. We were just 6 people! It is a shame because the food is good! This place has the BEST Spring rolls. They come 2 in an order but they are so gigantic they have to be cut in half. One Spring roll is the size of a burrito. They are fresh and delicious. They really know how to get rice paper soft and still have crunchy veggies and rice noodles. read more

The food was good but the service... we walked in the door and the waitress waiting behind the counter seemed irritated by having to greet and seat us. We came in for a late lunch at 3 pm and the restaurant was empty. All through the entire visit she seemed very aloof. Even my friend commented likewise when we left. Pad Thai is my definite favorite. They serve dishes on the mild side but will spice them up for you according to your taste and tolerance. I think the food is excellent so I'm not sure why they don't draw a larger crowd. Hands down the best Thai food I have found in the area. read more

My new spot. I eat here nearly 3-4x a week and I am still not tired of this place! Great food, great service! Pineapple fried rice is good as well as the spicy basil fried rice. My favorite is their curry. I love the red & yellow curry with the seafood mixture. Panang curry is also absolutely delicious. Their spicy is above your average spicy so I stick to the medium so I can still enjoy my food. Pad Thai there is also good. Sweet & spicy. Tom Yum never fails to delight me. Thai Tea is always good.
