Here are just a few issues that come to mind years later: * HE WAS LATE! - We got married at the Surf & Sand in Laguna Beach and Chris Darnall didn't even show up on time! He blamed it on the fact that he couldn't find parking! That's when you suck it up and valet! Needless to say we got absolutely ZERO photos of myself or my husband getting ready!! (We also got no photos of the dress, shoes, rings, etc) *He wasn't prepared! - He had no idea where to set us up for photos so the entire wedding party was following him around the resort like a herd of cattle. He said he had worked at the Surf & Sand before but that was hard to believe by the way our wedding day unfolded. Total Chaos! *His timing was horrible! - He waiting until after our evening wedding to take our group wedding party pictures. He definitely didn't account for the lighting because the sun was set and all of the picture of our wedding party came out dark! *Unprofessional! - If our wedding day experience wasn't bad enough, when our wedding photo book arrived it was damaged! We let his know the book came damaged and he said he would replace it but never did!!! Whatever you do, do NOT use Darnall Photography for your wedding day! ...You might regret it, just like we do.

We didn't want the "cookie cutter" or "prom posed" wedding photographs. We went with Jonathan because of his photo journalistic eye. He knows how to capture a moment in the most stunning, pure, unfiltered way. In our first meeting, we found him to be kind, genuine and curious as we pestered him with questions about his photography background and style. That wedding was postponed and reconfigured to meet COVID demands, reducing the guest list from 120 to 14. Our intimate, family-focused ceremony took place a in a humble setting with only minimal décor. Its been a great year of marriage which is what I am grateful for, but I can see the disappointment in my face in the photos about my photographer choice. I would not recommend him for a wedding as he showed up late and was not appropriate for the occasion. He was dirty, late and did not set the tone well. I place blame on myself as well for not setting out that I expected shots of wedding details (rings, program, decor, dress, etc). I suppose my expectations were high for the price we paid and for the experience he has. He had some great action shots but overall just not what a wedding photographer should be with so many great options that I passed over unfortunately. The biggest regret of my wedding day.

Chris has to be one of the most unprofessional persons I have ever experienced. He ruined my…read moresisters wedding photos and literally single handed held up the entire day from all of the completely unnecessary photos he felt compelled to shoot. Had he not held up the wedding party, the ceremony would have started on time. ( now I know why he told us he doesn't get along with wedding planners...) It's because he doesn't have a clue as to what matters and what needs to be done as far as photos... Had the ceremony started on time, we would have had more time to do all of the things we wanted to do that evening. That being said, we didn't realize why we had so little time until the end of the night and the days following when we got to chat about the events... My sister was so excited to get her pictures... that is until she got the actual email... can you say horrible? Talk about quite literally ruining your wedding... After all of the photos he took, we all for sure thought he would have got things that were important... family, husband with mom, wife with her dad, etc. Nope. not one picture of anything that actually mattered to all of us was taken... but instead, photos of what looks like the camera at an angle ( which by the way, over 90% of the photos were taken at an angle) of very random things. Some of the photos were not edited at all ( or they were and it only goes to show how little Chris knows about photography). My sisters husband asked for Chris to organize the photos; so they could pick out the ones they would have cropped and major edit work done to... that's when Chris showed us all just how unprofessional he really is... Now, you would think that your upset customers who are not happy with your finished product should be spoke to kindly and probably with a little tact...Not, Chris is not only unapologetic for how badly the photos have come out, but is now making threats to not give any of the proofs to the family at all. I highly suggest using another photographer if you want your memories to be professionally captured. Update Not only did my sister win her court case, Chris and his rude wife hired a lawyer and appealed the case...only for another judge to side with my sister and her husband!!
