Amazing... John just shot our wedding and as a bride, everyone is right... The day is such a whirlwind, there are many things you never see. John did just an amazing job documenting our wedding. From the things I never took the time to look at- he took gorgeous shots of the bouquets, the escort card set up that I worked so hard on, the bridemaids colorful shoes, etc. But even more importantly, John's creativity just shines through. We didn't want typical formal pictures and he caught us in the most perfect candid moments. We had an outdoor wedding, his eye for detail and backdrops are fabulous. We also used John for our engagement photos. Again, we didn't want typical staged photos and asked him if we could all ride bikes along the beach to get some shots, he was fair game. He found the most unique back drops that at the time, we had no idea what was so special about a particular brick wall, until we got our images back and that wall created so much character. John did a one hour photo shoot with me last week, and it worked out great. He was imaginative, and tried different things -- we did a number of shots at his studio-home, and also went into his neighborhood to do shots against different backgrounds. I ended up with a number of good pictures. He had me pose certain ways, but also let me be myself. He did some light editing, and offered to do more, but I liked the shots as they were, without much touching up. He's a nice guy, and his dog is a sweetheart. read more

This last weekend, my mom treated my two sisters and I, and her 7 granddaughters (ages 17 to 2 1/2 months) on a trip to LA, for a girl's weekend. Our treat to her, was to get a family portrait of the 11 of us together. Since we all live in different cities, in 2 different states, the time we share together is precious and not as often as we'd all like. So, at 33 weeks pregnant, we decided it was finally time to have a family/maternity photo shoot done. After having some issues with responsiveness from a couple of other local photographers that had been recommended to us, I finally turned to Yelp and saw the great reviews on John. His work looked really good, so I figured we would contact him and see what he had to say. Imagine my surprise when after having to chase other photographers down, he responded to my early morning email within a couple of hours! He was friendly, professional, and informative, and answered all my questions quickly and painlessly. I was happy to hear that for family shoots, he charges a flat hourly rate - no subsequent upsells to receive more edits, additional pictures, or anything else - the one rate covers all. We picked a date, and he sent me an invoice (especially liked the fact that I was able to pay online and with a credit card). The day before the shoot, he followed up to confirm the details. He arrived to our agreed-to location right on time and ready to shoot. He was personable and made us feel comfortable right away, demonstrating patience with our handful of a toddler who was not at all interested in getting his picture taken. John got a variety of shots, including some outstanding shots of said grouchy toddler. He was leaving for a foreign shoot the following day so instead of asking us to wait 2 weeks for our photos, he had them edited and sent to us the very same day as the shoot! Now THAT is service! It is clear just in communicating with John via email, and meeting him once, that he takes his work seriously and prides himself on his level of service. Our entire interaction with him has been relaxed and professional, and we look forward to working with him again. In all honesty, photographers are a dime a dozen. Everyone with a snazzy DSLR camera thinks they are now a professional photographer. Great photographers on the other hand, are diamonds in the rough. Where do I begin??? I was first exposed to John's photography via Facebook in 2009 and immediately fell in love with his work.
