"I'm writing this review to share my concerns about Dr. Jones's office. I was on HIV medication for two years with no issues, but when they changed my medication, I ended up in the ICU with respiratory failure, pneumonia, and sepsis. The hospital put me back on my old medication, but Dr. Jones's office put me back on the new medication, and I ended up in the emergency room with edema in my legs. This has left me very concerned about their ability to make decisions about my medication. I also discussed acupuncture or physical therapy for my sciatica and medication for fat buildup under my ribcage. I finally got acupuncture after six months, but I still haven't received medication for the fat buildup, which is common for people with HIV. I'm now looking for a new doctor, but I'm hoping for the best at my next appointment with Dr. Jones's office. I would strongly recommend that people think twice before going to this doctor." read more

I reached out to this office via email, called, and filled out their new patient form on their website. I've received no communication back. If they can't accommodate any new patients than they need to change their website (which says, "accepting new patients"). This caused a several week delay on me finding a new GP and have some semi-urgent issues...so it's not nothing when an office can't communicate back with you. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Jaime Young as my PCP for almost 3 years now, and this review is long overdue. I can honestly say she is the best, most compassionate, understanding, socially-aware, and helpful doctor I've ever seen! I am a 26-year-old with a LOT of complex health issues - chronic illness and pain, history of trauma (sexual violence and a traumatic assault where I survived being stabbed multiple times), and then at the beginning of 2021 I fell and severely injured my spine and tailbone. Dr. Jaime Young has always listened very intently and compassionately and gave knowledgeable suggestions for treatment options. I am very cautious about taking prescription medications and she has always answered all my questions transparently. She is very prompt with sending prescriptions, and she helped me get a disability placard for my car which was long overdue. I've had a lot of issues with my insurance, and changed insurance a few times since being her patient, but she and the office staff have always been patient and helpful in sorting it out. Dr. Anthony Jones is also wonderful, although I've never been seen by him personally, he has helped with approving an emergency refill on my prescription when Dr. Jaime Young was out of town and I had an insurance issue. I highly recommend both of them as PCPs! read more

I saw Joel, the PA, today. It was my first visit and it was really pleasant. Everyone in the office were patient and friendly. They remembered my husband, who is also a new patient and had seen them 10 days ago. The building is old but the office itself is very much up to date. The equipment look new and laptops were used by Joel in the patient rooms - no chunky old desktops on stands that could barely support it and wires everywhere. The entire office was very clean, bright, and very efficient. They are super at collaborating with our schedule - greatly appreciated!! Appts were easily made and they helped us when we needed to see Joel and/or Dr. Jones within days of traveling. I have not met Dr. Jones yet but will update when I do. read more

I have nothing but the best things to say about Dr. Jones. While I do try to avoid the doctors office at all cost, whenever I go see Dr. Jones, the experience is awesome. He has a calming personality and treats you like you are an old friend. On one visit, Dr. Jones was not available and I saw Luis Mercado P.A. and the experience was the same as. Great people! I have only been to see Dr. Jones twice in my whole life. Visit #1: he saved me from swine flu by telling me that I not only had swine flu, by also bronchitis. Visit #2: prescribed something for my pink eye, and (given the viral nature of pink eye) gave me a fist bump rather than a handshake on the way out. Dr Jones is simply amazing. He is extremely friendly, caring and he takes his time with you. He is knowledgeable and dedicated to his work. I can tell he truly loves his profession. Another important note is he is accessible which is unusual with most physicians in this day and age. The entire staff ( Bennie, Liz, Morisha?) is truly helpful as well. Dr. Jones is one of the best out there. Bar none. Incredibly knowledgable about medicine, but also perceptive about what his patients are saying, and more importantly, what they're NOT saying. He knows the questions to ask and makes you feel like both of you are on the same page. Very down-to-earth and humorous too. You can't NOT walk out of his office and feel like you've got the A-team working for you. Staff are all cut from the same cloth too -- Joe, his physician's assistant, is top-notch and really knows his stuff, and has a great attitude. Frankly, I don't mind seeing either one of them for medical issues. Bernie and Liz, the nurse and receptionist, are also both exceptional -- you can tell everyone enjoys being there and although they are busy, they never let you feel you aren't their number 1 concern. I've been coming to Dr Jones for about 10 + years now. I've actually switched insurance (paying more in the process) to be able to follow him from Contra Costa to Oakland and now his private practice. I'm probably one of his longest-seen patients. I'm a physician, who like everyone needs a good doctor. I was refered to Dr Jones when my internist died suddenly. Dr Jones took over the practice of a man who was revered and loved by his patients for decades. He won me over immediately with his astute, yet down to earth manner---like talking with a buddy. I've run into other patients who used to see Dr Bob and they agree that Dr Jones is a really fine physician and took some of the sting out of losing our doctor friend. I feel comfortable & cared about every time I've needed to see him for the past 3 years. His office staff, Bernadette & Lisa, are great also: friendly, caring & always on top of paper work & willing to help you out. His new physician's assistant, Joe, is also a really experienced and pleasant clinician and a genuinely kind person. Unfortunately, I have to echo others who have said this office simply is horrible at returning phone calls. Their billing department is also separate from their office, and I just paid a bill that was double the original bill because of the incompetence of this office. After changing my address twice, the billing office still has my original address of two residences ago, and have been sending me billing notices that I didn't get until too late. After I called the billing office and left a voicemail, my call wasn't returned until a month later. I called back multiple times with no answer, and finally left another voicemail. Today, I finally reached Diane, and she told me "Well I returned your phone call back in July." Girl, that was weeks after I called you and left a voicemail, and I told her that I've left another voicemail that was never returned, only for her to respond, "I haven't checked my voicemails." She blamed it on Comcast, but you're a doctors office and you are playing around with people's money - maybe you should get a better system. She tried to "rectify" the situation by taking off $5 of charges off my bill, but it's just not good enough. It's just very disappointing that I had really good insurance the time of my visit, and I've only visited this office ONCE for a doctor's appointment that didn't even last 30 minutes, only to be billed as if I didn't even have insurance. They are incompetent and their systems are not synced and the patients are the ones that have to pay for it. read more

I saw Dr. Williams, W Bryan at this location and had a terrible experience. Do not come here if you want a Dr that actually cares about how you are feeling or expect any kind of reasonable consideration given to you. I take a pain medication 3x a day which Dr. Williams wrote me a 3 month supply the first time I seen her (most likely because I was paying cash and she wouldn't have made the money rejecting me) I saw a complete change in her demeanor and how her sweet caring personality completely changed like she had no interest in hearing me out it feels bad coming from a care provider. When I went into her office today really needing her help she would not do one thing to help me...she'd rather me suffer with withdrawals the entire weekend instead of writing me a simple 3 week supply of my medication which I did not even lose it was stolen from me because it was in my book bag and a thief at the restaurant I was at grabbed my bag and ran out the door while I was ordering food. The security guards wrote incident reports and I even talked to two actual SFPD Peace Officers who wrote a report based on what the security guard told them and I told them my medication that was in my bag that they wrote that with the quantity and everything giving the Dr no reason to not be able to give me what I need...even the Officers told me I'd have no problem getting my medication back because if you have a legal document stating what happened your Dr is supposed to refill that medication for you whatever it may be. I picked up the actual police report a couple days later when it was ready and went to Walgreens pharmacy. There I was told by the pharmacist the Dr who wrote me the medication is responsible for giving me a new script as I was legally under her care. It's very cruel of Dr Williams to not write me a refill for at least 3 weeks till I can get into my new Dr on the 1st. I take this for chronic back pain and been on it for several years. Any Dr knows you can't cut your patient off of a narcotic medication such as Oxycodone 3x a day without weaning them off and slowly reducing the medicine over a period of time. She just needed to give me what should have been obligated to me but I go through all kinds of trouble to come in with the required paperwork and Dr Williams tells me to leave there's Nothing she can do for me didn't even refer me to a urgent care no help whatsoever. To me this is considered malpractice since it's my regular medication she was just being a bit** and not thinking about the patient and the pain and suffering I will go through waiting 3 weeks to get my medication back. Could it be because I didn't have cash in my hand for them this time instead I had the proper paperwork to get the simple request I was asking for. I did not expect for this to happen to me, sometimes you need to use your heart and not let your stressful day get in the way of you making rational decisions that you know are going to have your patient in pain, in withdrawals from the medicine, in a total state of being unpleasant and not able to sleep well be vomiting and having diarrhea and flu symptoms within a day or two. I just want to inform people that this location gave me very poor treatment and Dr Williams was not acting professional in her attempt to play Dr...she refused to rewrite me something for no reason other than letting her mood interfere with professional discretion she had in your hands and took it out on me like I'm the bad one saying I may have a problem..yes I needed you to follow the guidelines and perform your job..care since your not feeling the physical symptoms I'm feeling and weren't making money. It's called your job also a act of good faith and being there for your patients just like anyone else coming to see you would appreciate being treated how they deserve. No Dr I've ever had would of done that to me if it were to happen in the past. This just showed complete lack of compassion and how different her personality is when cash comes into the picture. I have nothing positive to say or recommend about this Dr Office of Anthony E Jones who practice family medicine and HIV medicine. PLEASE choose a new location if you are considering this place. If something happens to your medication Dr Williams will leave you with nothing, total malpractice and lets her emotions on a busy day get in the way of her making logical and ethical decisions for the well being of her patients. Avoid this place before you have something so unjust happen to you or your loved one. There are a lot of good Drs out there get one and don't get into the mess at this location with this Dr.!!!!!! read more

Unfortunately I've had to see PA Joel three times in a week due to a car accident and he has made me feel special and listened to me and understood I was in chronic pain. He got an MRI scheduled immediately and also got through to pain management doctor so we can get some sort of outpatient procedure hopefully because we already got the MRIs back. I feel like he put me on the fast track which makes me feel special and he listened to me. Poor Dr Jones has done a lot of leg work as he can't always be around but he's working a lot from home sending prescriptions writing orders even answering the phone on a sunday. The staff has been unbelievably wonderful to work with. I would highly highly suggest Dr Once again this doctor's office has come through for me above and beyond any office of any profession has ever done. I love this doctor's office! It feels great to finally have a great doctor in the East Bay. Every doctor I have seen at this office is high-quality, I've been going here for 3 years. I currently see a doctor named Rebecca. I also REALLY appreciate the wonderful receptionist staff here! They are so on the ball with refilling prescriptions, setting up appointments and more. Recently I went on a trip and forgot my medicine and they quickly sent the prescription to a nearby CVS out of state. Dr. Jones is amazing, I highly recommend him and his practice. read more

Dr. Jones is kind, personable, and knowledgeable and has the WORST office staff as they do not return phone calls, do not call the pharmacy, do not pick up the phone, and do not pass messages to the doctor. I have been going to see Dr. Jones for about 8 years once or maybe twice a year. Either he now has too many patients and is spread too thinly or the the incompetence of his office staff is overwhelming his practice. We could never run our business as poorly as this office is run and stay in business. Obviously this is written out of frustration, but that frustration was totally avoidable. Dr. Jones has waaaaaaaay too many patients. If you want to talk to him or his NP Rebechah Hugh you will have to waaaaaait. My mother was his patient and she has Alzheimer's Disease. I saw the memory changes happening, and I called and called trying to get him to pay attention to her odd behavior. It took 3 phone calls over a period of several weeks before he returned my call. For over a year as my mother got worse I tried to explain to them that they needed to let me know when my mother had an appt. Otherwise she would 90 % of the time miss her appt. Most of the time I got no heads up even though they had agreed to do so. Finally my mother got so bad off that my older sister is taking on her care and moving my mother to another state. I called and asked Dr. Jones staff if they could refill her last set of prescriptions before my mother left town. They dropped the ball on one medicine that is vital. Now I have to pick it up and mail it as my mother is already out of state. I called the office to discuss a new medicine my mother was ordered to take. It took Rebechah Hugh not the promised 24 hours, but 4 days to return my call. I discovered during that phone call that my mother has daibetis. I was shocked to discover this, but more shocked that they never told me. I gave her feedback about how horrible it is from a care givers stand point to constantly be left out of the loop. She didn't care. And yes I know how the law works. Nevertheless other doctors do work with me. Maybe Dr Jones does not know about Alzheimer's enough to understand when it is happening with his patients--or maybe they just can't do their job because they have taken on too many patients. I believe that if you can't keep your word don't give it. And if a doctor sees all the warnings signs of Alzheimer's, don't you think you might want to run some tests right away? Instead of waiting for a family member to tell you something is wrong? Dr. Jones has great bed side manner. But I think the idea here is to keep my mother out of the bed. So no matter how nice he is, and how kind, it doesn't matter if communication is not occurring in a professional manner. read more

Dr Jones' practice is beyond awesome - he's reason enough to live in California. His staff - Bernie, Joe, Elizabeth - are as caring and hard-working as Dr Jones is. The spirit of these folks heals faster and more thoroughly than any Rx you may need to fill. As just one example of this extraordinary practice, a month ago I sought help for the worst flu Ive ever had which I had delayed seeking help for until it had turned bacterial, bronchial, and possibly had moved into one of my lungs. A few days later - on a Sunday afternoon, no less, Dr Jones calls me at home to see how Im doing. Since did MDs call patients at home, least of all on a Sunday? 30 or 40 years ago? For Dr Jones, this is evidently just a routine part of the high level of care that he gives his patients. So i do not normally do reviews but i had to do it for this very sweet young lady. Patricia is very new to the Dr Jones Family and is a sweetheart bless her soul. At first when I interacted with Patricia i assumed that she was a little lost. She seemed busy then I told her that she must be new and she chuckled. But what I loved about her is once I was in the room and we talked you could tell she was very smart and knew what she was doing. I'm petrified of needles and shots but Patricia talked me through it the whole time and it was not bad at all for the first time i was not fearful and it didn't hurt I like Patricia and I Dr Jones has a amazing staff and Does a Wonderful job !! Dr. Ambrosio is amazing. His knowledge in his profession shows he enjoys his job. Every visit I learn something new. The care and concern for his patients are at a level five. This PA is very accessible and the office staff (Bernedette and liz) is as friendly and warm as Dr. Ambrosio. I moved to this area about a month ago and signed up to see Dr. Jones, but he was away from the office and so I ended up seeing PA Ambrosio and I am soo glad I did. God knows best. It's not often that you find a doctor that actually has bedside manner anymore. He is a stellar individual, knowledgeable, friendly, caring and compassionate. He is always glad to see me, even if he isn't, I always feel like he is. He makes me laugh, but also allows me to talk to him about ANYTHING. I made a first time appointment to this office as new patient for a general physical examination last Friday. My experience was excellent! The office atmosphere is nice and the staff there are providing good quality services. The doctor seeing me is someone newly joined the office as I understand, her name is Dr Wilson, whom I want to recommend to everyone before she becomes fully booked very soon. Good doctors are hard to find these days. I will be for sure to see her again as a primary doctor.
