I searched for years then finally found Dr Andreus after vigrously searching for a dentist that…read morecould handle both my general and cosmetic dental needs. I was disappointed time after time until I found his practice. He just recently saved me $4000- $5000 by using a bonding techinque preventing me from having to have braces to correct a flaw in my smile. The products and techinques he uses are far superior to others I have been exposed to/ tried in the past. There is a art to his work--

After a little more than 20 years in seeing a dentist, I came to Dr. Andreaus with a number of…read moredental problems, embarrassing cavities on my front teeth, a very crooked smile, horrible pain from some teeth that needed root canals, and a tremendous amount of anxiety. Looking back, the anxiety was so high that I would have just continued suffering and hiding my smile except for the pain I was dealing with. I had some bad experiences with dentists as a child. His staff was very friendly and accommodating and Dr. Andreaus himself was amazing. He took his time to explain everything to me, he answered a ton of questions I had, we went over a ton of options, and put together a treatment plan that would focus on the immediate pain, and then deal with the other problems one stage at a time as I was comfortable. He completely set me at ease. He was never judgmental or preachy about my lack of dental treatment in the past, and he was very friendly and easy going. I've been his patient for several years now (I had a lot of problems) and I can say with full confidence that he is an amazing professional and he really cares about his patients. I'm not just another number or random patient to him. I still have a lot of anxiety about getting any dental work done, but those are long seated fears that have just taken some time to get over. Having said that though, I totally attribute it all to Dr. Andreaus. I've thanked him a number of times, but I don't think I've really articulated how much he has meant to me and how much I appreciate him. I'm proud of the work he has done for me and I've relearned how to smile and laugh without trying to force a grin and keeping my lips over my teeth. I still have more work to go, but I wouldn't trust my teeth and my smile to anyone else on the planet. If you are like me and need a dentist that cares and has fantastic skills (really, he is amazing) then you have GOT to see him. You will be in great hands. Also, when he gives you options for treatment he will also give you some recommendations. I suggest trusting him and going with his recommendation. Don't be afraid to ask questions either. PS His office has great artwork and is really easy to get to on Glenwood (Five Points).

I made a call to a dentist not too far from this location off of N. church st which was less than…read morea few feet from where I was located and the front desk representative did not seem interested in not only the urgency I had but the care I needed. After explaining my issue she said well I'm not sure what procedure you are explaining but does your in order to move forward I need to see if your insurance covers you. 1. I already explained I went through my insurance site and found this location (active listening is not her forte- she should've asked me about the member number) 2. I needed a same day appointment because of the pain associated with my issue. (After all that she FINALLY said we can't do a same day "you can go to urgent care") I said thank you and hung up-She clearly cannot represent the brand... NOW AS FAR AS THE TOP TIER SERVICE AT PEARL DENTISTRY... CHEF'S KISS! I called in and was greeted with the most welcoming and empathetic voice and professionalism from the front desk staff (I could almost kick myself for letting my pain make me drop the ball and forgot to get her name- she needs a shout out) She asked me how quickly can you get here? Do you think you can get here within 30 minutes? I was floored! Yessss I can! At that point she asked "so how did you find us?" - not will you be covered by your insurance. I told her my insurance and she said great! I can look you up to help you get in quicker and get taken care of! I was ill prepared but she took other means to find me and followed up with a 2nd phone call before arriving. The way she carried herself it was like I was the only patient they had and I was Queen Charlotte herself - just VIP Service and care, tailored to me, and about me. Good energy from the jump start! When I arrived... I was literally at the corner and she was looking out the window at a lost lady with 2 toddlers in a stroller and she waved me down like she knew me-Thank God because I was already hot and in pain but her infectious smile from probably 400+ft away made me feel like I was seeing a long time friend and I waved and painfully smiled bigger than I should have! she opened the door for me and said hey there welcome to Pearl Dentistry! I said did I look that lost? And we laughed and she said it's ok I'm just glad you made it! The other staff members were smiling and greeting me too (like we met before as well) 1. Location- Beautiful, bright, wonderful aesthetics, beautiful chipper people, and very professional. Great music too! 2. Technology and Intake- sent me a message for check in to my phone, easy and effortlessly created without feeling like I'm putting everything and my blood type on there (I've had some forms I wanted to just exit and this was very direct, straight to the point and not a dragged out process.) 3. Wait time- by the time I blinked they were calling me to the back and that was perfect because with the toddlers they can get a little too busy us moving to the back as quick as we did helped a lot. (Not to mention they had snacks for them and YouTube that kept them cool, calm and collected during my visit) 4. My Tooth Fairy Dr. Amanda Curtlin, DDS What a refreshing experience to know that the standard of service does not stop at the Front staff but in the individual rooms with back staff (Dental assistant/X-ray tech/ pre-op- very personable young lady!) Dr Curtlin made my nerve wrecking experience easy and effortlessly created a great environment for me to relax and provided a clear understanding of what was happening, why it was happening, and what we need to do to stay safe during & after care. Never in my life has a dentist made me feel comfortable enough to hum through a tooth extraction. I mean she carried the tunes with me, checked in on me after every line of the song, and still carried out a full tooth extraction without missing a beat! I think I even heard her sing to the dental assistant to drain the site AND I LOVED IT! She communicated with me the entire time, telling me to make sure I tell her if I feel any pain vs pressure, paused if she didn't understand what I was saying even if it was something as simple as you both are doing great because at that point they weren't just my cheer squad, I was theirs! I am an unofficial Pearl Dentistry ambassador little does she know and that is because of Dr. Curtlin and the entire staff! This isn't your normal Dental office that we grew up with... this is the Young, fresh faces, committed to excellence and care, empathy and compassion, personality and professionalism and their name fits because they are the Pearl in the sea of dentistry and definitely reimagined the view of dental care, HANDS DOWN THE BEST EXPERIENCE!

Unclear communication about what fillings I was supposed to have done (ended up with 3 more than I…read morethought I was going to get?!), my teeth hurt so much more after these fillings than ever before, and one of the fillings they put in chipped (although at least when I went in, they didn't charge me to fix the filling). Now looking for a different dentist because of very limited scheduling options with this dentist.

I went to Campus Walk Dental for a cleaning after moving to Durham and needing to establish care…read morewith a new dentist. The cleaning was standard. However, during the cleaning Dr. Pilon told me that I needed to get "preventative fillings" as I had some dark spots that would "eventually" turn into cavities. I was a bit puzzled as I had only had 1-2 cavities in my entire life before this, but not wanting to question a doctor's authority, I scheduled a follow-up to get some of these "cavities" filled a few weeks later. When I went back to get my cavities filled, I was surprised that Dr. Pilon ending up doing 3-4 fillings. It was not communicated well with me what was going to be done and I found myself surprised at the price of the service. Following this appointment, I experienced a good deal of pain where the cavities had been filled which seemed unusual to me as I hadn't had this experience with fillings in the past. Weeks following the appointment, I found I could not chew on the side of mouth where the fillings had been done. They were sensitive to hold/cold and I resorted to only chewing food on one side of my mouth as a result. I waited for the pain to go away but it never did. Finally, last week I was flossing my teeth and one of the fillings popped right out. I was stunned. I promptly scheduled an appointment at another dentist who told me that the technique used by Dr. Pilon was mediocre at best, and that I would eventually need to get the fillings re-done to prevent further pain. The staff at this 2nd dentist also told me that my teeth looked beautiful and they could not imagine that I would need any fillings whatsoever, and especially not the amount that Dr. Pilon told me that I needed. Now I will have to pay to get them all re-done. Overall, I feel that was gypped out of my money with the guise of needing multiple fillings that were completely unnecessary. And not only that, they were done poorly and left me in pain for months. I would not recommend this practice to anyone. This is not from a place of trying to tear this business down, but rather to prevent others from having this same experience.

I was not going to write a review about my experience here but with what happened last week I have…read moreno choice. I know that this review will do nothing but if it helps someone not to come here for treatment that will be good. I want to start off with my treatment. I had braces for about 3 years; when I first had them they only put the top braces on and not the bottom ones, I got those a year later. I did not receive an explanation on why they did that. This affected my treatment because it resulted in my bottom teeth still being crooked at the end of the treatment. They wanted to charge my parents more money for the bottom teeth to be fixed. Which is insane because it was their fault and not ours. So, I got my braces off that day, with my bottom teeth still being crooked and my bite still being off. I got my retainers, but after having retainers for a year. Unfortunately, my dog got a hold of my retainer and chewed it up. That was on me obviously, so I called and set up an appointment for a retainer check up and so I could pay for a new retainer. I got there and they refused to give me a new retainer. According to them my teeth were crooked from the bottom and my bite was off and that I needed braces again. I told them that is how they left them but they did not listen. Instead, they blamed me for my teeth turning out like that. Which is insane considering that it was their fault. I believe they were trying to get money out of me and my mom. So since they refused to give me retainer my teeth are now shifting. Which honestly sucks because my parents paid about 5k for them. I want to end off this review talking about the employees there. Although some were nice and friendly some were not. There was one specifically that would talk to me like if I was dumb and slow. She would make sarcastic remarks about stuff I asked about the braces. But, there was this day that I will never forget. The lady that was doing the check up on me said my teeth were disgusting and she told this lady to translate that to my mom in Spanish because my mom does not speak English. The lady that did not look at my teeth made it seem that my teeth were the grossest thing in the world and she made disgusted faces. I want you all to keep in mind, I flossed, brushed my teeth, and used mouth wash three times a day. So, I know that my teeth were not disgusting and even if they were they should not have acted unprofessional and childish. Mind you they are basically making fun of a child because I was 14 at that time. Meanwhile, they are grown and mature women in either their late 30's or 20's. In conclusion, do not come to this orthodontist because they will treat you horribly. I believe this orthodontist only cares about money and not their patients. My name is Maria Torres, just incase you want to say I am not a patient here.
