I had an appointment today checked in , The receptionist explained their would be a 5.86 charge I agreed I get to back get half way done the lady that was working on my mouth says it will be a 189$ to complete full mouth I ask why wasn't this explained in the beginning she leaves comes back with a nasty attitude as if I didn't have right to ask bout my cheddar I told her I didn't like her tone how she was addressing me and she refuses to finish the job I paid for . I wished I would of came here first. The ladies are amazing and friendly. The office looks amazing. I did not have to wait long at all and it was easy to make an appointment. We booked the first appointment online, only to be contacted two days before the appointment and told the WE made a mistake when We booked the time and date, and they could not honor it. We tried again, after being told that they do, in fact, take Medicaid. We arrived today, about 10 minutes early, and we were told, AGAIN, that they were forced to cancel our appointment. This time, due to alleged, attempted contact, which we either, "Ignored, or were too busy to get back in touch." When I told them that I specifically asked to be contacted via email or text, they say that they do not do that. When I informed them that I choose those options from a drop down menu, they said that they were sorry, but I must be confused, for they have no such options anywhere on their site. We attempted to book another appointment while we were standing there, which they were happy to do. We wanted to be sure that they do take Medicaid, and after a conference between the two ladies at the desk, they could not figure out if they take Medicaid, or Medicare. They called another office, but it was in another state (not NC), and they were told that they accept both. When these two ladies were saying goodbye and thanks, the lady on the phone said, "Wait a minute, where are you calling from?" "North Caroline, why?" "Well, your state may have different regulations and rules. You need to call someone in your own state. By the way, why is it that you do not know which type of government insurance that you accept? Is this your first day?" Being as this was all out loud on a speaker phone, the ladies then hung up abruptly, and told us that the lady in Virginia was confused, and would we confirm our phone number, as they would call us later today with an answer, and a new appointment time and date. I told them not to bother, as the run-around and confusion we have already witnessed was unbearable to watch. I added that if I was viewing this on TV, or someone else's life, I would laugh myself sick, but since I had to live it, there was not a snow ball's chances in July I would ever let anyone in their office come close to me or my wife with an implement meant for surgery, or any anesthesiologist. I then added, "Remember Michael Jackson?" My wife apologized for my semi-brute honesty, and then they asked her if she wanted another appointment, attempting to forgo me. She told them no, and just because she apologized for my frankness, it doesn't mean anything I said was untrue. I would not let them clean my car, let alone cut my gums and remove anything. My husband is disabled and on Medicaid. We were referred to Aspen by family members. He is in need of dentures for top and bottom. He made an appointment about a month ago , one day before appointment they called to tell him that they do not accept Medicaid. He was disappointed and I am furious. We are going to a wedding next month and he was hoping to have something done by then. I'm furious because why would you wait that long to tell him ? He could have seen someone else by now. Went in there for what I thought was to get a cracked tooth fixed and was given a dental exam and at the end was told I would need a deep cleaning and a bunch of other work done, at the end was told it would cost 29,785 to fix everything. Went and got a 2nd opinion and was quoted a total way lower price to get my work done. read more

After having a major surgery , I had a tooth come out from the sedation. Needless to stay I was in a vulnerable place haven just had surgery and then my front tooth came out. I went to Aspen thinking they would help me replace my tooth and do any other major work needed. After having X-rays, these people told me I needed to have all my front teeth, top and bottom pulled. I was shocked. After setting up thousands of dollars with them to pay for this I went home. Over the next few days I started to think more and more about how I was loosing my teeth. God had me get a second opinion. The dentist I went to told me that I did not need dentures. Yes , there is work to do in my mouth however it was not pulling ALL of my front teeth. After canceling services and requesting a refund Calvin in the office refused to issue my refund and I missed my appointment with the new dentist After making an appearance at the office my refund was issued. You should get a second opinion too. They do not care about your smile unless they have given you dentures Or implants Never ever , and to think I was going to have someone close to me go have their teeth done. Not at Aspen on University. They have lost thousands from my household. You shouldn't treat people like that. God doesn't look kindly on people like Aspen on University in Winston Salem. read more

If I could give them a 0, I definitely would. I took my son in for a dental exam, and they said he had 10 cavities. Took him somewhere else for a 2nd opinion. He has ZERO cavities, and cavities do not just disappear. I had several procedures done and everytime I came in office they had a new charge of $90....everytime...come to find out it was some glitch with the system and they were charging quite a few people the same amount. I was told I owed NOTHING on my account. Almost a year later, a bill pops up in my mailbox for $384. I called up there to get a ledger of all the money I paid. The system was down, and I was told that as soon as the system was up, they would email it to me. It has been 2 weeks....I called this morning, and the systems are still down. I'm a patient person, but if I don't owe the money or even if i do owe it, I need to get this cleared up. Aspen has definitely been an awful experience, I just want to get all this cleared up so I never have to deal with them again. read more

I should've checked out the reviews before scheduling an appointment here. I had an urgent need to see a dentist and was thrilled to find an office who was willing to schedule an appointment so quickly, so I jumped on the opportunity, but the front office was super challenging to work with. They were nice, but impossible to get ahold of over the phone. Kept having to leave a message and then wait for a call back. My employer had an issue transferring corporate insurance over, so it required some communication on Aspen Dental's end, which was lackluster at best. Most of the time when you call, you are leaving a voicemail. Sometimes you'll call, key in and follow all the prompts to the point where you should be able to leave a voicemail and then it just hangs up on you. This happened multiple times. In addition, they were supposed to call in my prescription 2 days prior to my appointment. I wasn't able to make it to the pharmacy the day prior and work a full time job. Was already taking 1/2 day for the appointment & guess what? They didn't call it in when they said they would, so multiple phone calls again to CVS & Aspen Dental. Ended up missing what I had planned the night before because of it. Also, BE CAREFUL! They recommended a variety of filling replacements. Said they were old and should be replaced. Unless I have a cavity forming under one of them, or it falls out, um... no thank you! They wanted about $1200, $900 of which was just recommended. My insurance would have covered some of that, but still. I've never heard of a dentist replacing fillings before. They try to squeeze extra money from you for services you don't really need, so don't fall for it! When I finally came in for my appointment, I waited an hour & finally asked how much longer. Turns out the front office forgot to tell the doctor I was there. Ug! Doctor was nice/professional and I really liked all of the dental hygienists I worked with. But I probably won't be going back. Customer service is not great at all. If you can't answer my phone call sometimes, fine, I can understand that, but not answering phone calls ever means I won't come back. Winston Salem, University Pkwy location - On my very 1st visit as a new patient, I was diagnosed with an exorbitant amount of "needed" deep cleaning. I felt high pressure sales with scare tactics the entire time I was onsite. The visit lasted over 1.5 hours and no cleaning was ever done. I was released with a list of charges they wanted to complete suggested cleaning services. I called the office back the very next day to schedule my cleaning and got voicemail. After three (3) calls to the office over several days, I finally got a text message asking me to call yet again. After playing phone tag a few times, I finally spoke with the hygienist, Amy, who seemed to have her head on straight. I still have not been scheduled for any cleaning and they have never called me again. I guess I have been dropped as a patient? My experience was very stressful and I do not recommend this office. This is the most inefficient dental office that I have been to. When I set the first appointment, I was given pricing and told I'd get both cleaning and exam. Before I checked in I told the staff the pricing. They didn't want to honor the rates quoted and didn't want to give the cleaning at the first visit. It took a long time to get them to honor the rates and do the cleaning. It also took a very long time for the visit, over 2 hours. I do not recommend this office and will not go back. read more

Receptionist was misleading when scheduling appointment. She was also discourteous and did not make me feel welcome, did not greet me at all. Dental assistant and Dentist were professional and friendly. Main reason I will never come back- the insane pricing. They wanted $1,000 for a cleaning. Luckily, I was able to schedule the same service with my other Dentist, purchase prescription toothpaste and mouthwash all for under $100. Will continue my care there, only. In fact, my mouth needs a bit of work (which is embarrassing and a bit gross) all services needed to correct and get me back on track are just a little over $1,000 total. Went in to check on cavities and instead they sold me on an very expensive periodontal treatment. I found out that they charge over a $1000.00 more than other dentist and so I canceled my appointment but was stupid enough to give a deposit in good faith of $597.00 half of my cost so they said. I now can't get my refund for services that I canceled do the over charging for same treatment offered by another dentist. They just lost a 3.5 million dollar lawsuit up in Maine. Not sure how I can get my money back they never have anyone locally that you can speak with and when you call it tells you they are in a meeting and to call back later. read more

Arrived for three separate appointments to the doors being locked. Had confirmation texts and emails for all three appointments. The last one was it for me. Arrived early to doors being locked and staff members just staring at me through the glass refusing to come to door to see that I did have confirmation on phone as well as appointment card given to me when i made the appointment, pretty much just flapping their arms and waving me away.. also flicking lights on and off. Waited outside a few more minutes, trying to call inside and of course no answer, and they all walked out right past me pretty much ignoring the fact that I was trying to show them on my phone I did in fact have an appointment. NASTY attitudes and really should seek employment at a place you might expect people to act like clowns, not a dentist office. Found out Tatiana is no longer employed there so I do not want to go back anyway.. Very bothersome with treatment at this location. also left messages for return call from customer service several times with no call back.. left same review on google. No response. Very nice staff but I had a appointment for free service to veterans on June 11th but they canceled on me the day before with only 30 minutes to call back and reschedule before they closed but I left a message and no one ever responded. I called the next week and the receptionist said he would check with the doctor and let me know but know but I never received a call back or a new appointment. read more

I wish I had the option to give them zero stars but 1 is as low as it goes so that's what they will get. I decided to try the free insurance that work started offering this year and boy, do you get what you pay for (nothing!) Prior to coming here I had been to 2 of the best dental offices in the area. Both has maintained my teeth with the best care available and I took care of every issue they found, so my mouth was in really good shape when I went there. This is one of the reasons I decided to try this new insurance, I figured my teeth were in such good shape that they really could not mess them up that bad in just one year, and if I didn't like them, me and my son would go back with the good insurance and dentists next year. At my first visit, they had some hygienist straight out of school (hopefully, this is questionable even) measure my gums, which I have had done yearly for decades now. She skips quite a few thinking I'm not paying attention or that I don't know what she is doing or whatever and just makes up some numbers and calls them out to the other girl writing them down. Who, by the way, struggled to complete the xrays. It took her about 20 tries to get them all where normally I get about 4-6 done. After this is done she tells me that I have bone loss based on my xrays and my teeth are likely to start falling out soon if I don't get their meds and have a deep cleaning done. OK I listen to this and go to see what their pricing is with the insurance. They quote me $520 and I tell them that is high and I want to get a second opinion before proceeding and I would just like to schedule my regular 6 month cleaning instead. They refused to do any other services to my teeth until I paid and completed this unnecessary so-called deep cleaning that I need. I am wondering if I were to chip a tooth or get a cavity or other pain at this point if they would even help me or if they would refuse until I completed their unnecessary service. I called my last dentist and plan to go back to them soon for my cleaning and just pay without insurance until I can change an open enrollment. Sounds like this is the only way I am going to get my teeth cleaned this year. Oh well, live and learn I guess. But I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. They are in the sales business and thought they had a sucker walk in the door I guess. Stay far away! There are plenty of good dentists in our area, no need to visit these fear mongerers. read more
