Sylvia Killion first opened Sylvia's by the Sea in 1999 as a young mother with four children. She had already operated a successful gift shop but she decided to open her newest venture, Sylvia's by the Sea in the seaside town of Scituate, Massachusetts. The businesses flourished and she was successful but like many of us Florida transplants she hated the harsh New England winter. In May of 2021 when her last child left the nest, Sylvia relocated to Juno Beach and reopened Sylvia's by the Sea. Sylvia's sells home furnishings, décor, kitchenware, handcrafted items, jewelry, accessories, and clothing. Some of my favorite items were the Spartina 44 Florida bags, large selection of Scout bags, and funny socks. They had a few sale items out front during my visit. I enjoyed browsing their interesting inventory which lends itself to the Florida coastal lifestyle. This is a great place to find a gift for someone or for just for yourself.

Do yourselves a favor and don't spend good money on bad business! The whole ordeal seems very uncoordinated from the beginning. My only complaint really is the customer service. It's awful. There is no acknowledgement of you as you walk through the store. There was one or two people on the floor just looking at customers and it felt awkward. Even the girls at the register would just stare at you while walking the store and not even smile or greet you. It was weird. It felt 'judgey.' So finally after like 20 minutes of deciding what I wanted, I check out and the girl doesn't even smile or greet me and just rings me up as if she's in a rush (there wasn't a line) and then after I pay she just puts the bag on the counter looks at the only person who just got in line behind me and I am still standing at the counter putting my wallet away and she says to the girl behind me "oh you can come up now" as I'm still standing at the counter and the girl seemed confused because I hadn't left yet. I felt unappreciated as a customer which sucks. Like I said before, Aritzia is one of my favorite brands but I'll probably stick to shopping online.
