Since Nordstrom moved out it's just so eerie. Not a lot going on. I happened to come in as I was checking out a potential new gym which is coming in - Club Studio - and they're going to be pretty huge and take the old Bloomingdales space, people were super friendly and helpful so hopefully that will help but Santa Monica is gonna need a lot more investment in order to drive the people back to shop in person because there is really no good selection of stores of value - just a few boutiques and some brands like Nike or Johnny Was or Paige. Din Tai Fung and Cheesecake on the top floor which is great but other than that... let's hope for more stores in the future.

A place where you wander the street, pop in and out of stores, stand there and watch the many street performers going on. Those days are long gone. It used to be shops after shops along the three blocks. Busy businesses one after the other. The holiday and weekend were alway packed with people. Also a major destination for holiday makers wanting to see what this place is all about. Now there's nothing but empty vacant spaces. The three blocks that once use to be bustling with people is like somewhat a ghost town. You still have a few scattered shops here and there and some restaurants, but majority is empty. Even with them trying to incorporate alcohol onto the strip to encourage people to shop and visit, it doesn't seem to work. It's still pretty quiet with loads of empty spaces. Some stores have survived but at least 60 to 70 percent have vanished. It's not the same third street promenade I remember. Don't get me wrong, people still come but it's not the same hustling crowd as it once was. They still have the farmers market which I think is still one of the better one. Amazing fresh produce to choose from. You do get loads of the chefs coming for their weekly fresh produce as well as the locals. At least that's still a positive for the area. Besides that, they'll still get holiday makers visiting and walking the blvd. But the experience, won't be the same. Hopefully it'll come through and be the nice spot if once was. One can hope.

As an open air mall, this style of shopping is inviting and enjoyable. Visiting frequently as a kid, it is a completely different experience. Stores are more high end than I remember. Crowds were exponentially greater! Lines for several stores (including Olive Young) to get in and for Ramen blew my mind. If you want a place to watch the world cup, courtyard is ready and inviting. This area was nice with the high rise century city backdrop. Although it was more crowded than I expected, meeting friends for lunch was great. The restaurant choices are wonderful. We planned to eat at one spot, but due to the wait we changed it up and it was a total hit. Parking was crazy! Lines to go up and down, it took forever to pull in a spot. The prices are expensive too if ya make a day here. Very few places validate.

Although this place is clean and offers lots of great stores, the parking system made everything very annoying. The fee system is complicated, and even after shopping, I ended up paying way too much. A place like this one, which claims to offer an exclusive shopping experience, requires a major renovation of its customer service department and parking system. There are many alternatives available in Los Angeles, where people do not leave irritated by the fees related to parking.

Service: All of the Marshal's staff I have ever interacted with in my 8 years of frequenting this Marshals location have been polite and helpful with all reasonable requests for assistance. I never have made an unreasonable request so I really can't compare against that. Selection: Marshals has a great number of standard types of items readily available but it is not a consistent in specific products. AKA if you don't get it now it probably won't be there next time you come. That does make for a fun shopping experience to find new things. Value: Some things have great reduced price value. I have never left a Marshall's crying, especially not on my literal 30th birthday…read more I took the day off of work today for my birthday, and decided to spend the day at Marshall's. I spent three hours meticulously looking for all of the 50% off holiday items. At one point a staff brought a huge cart of holiday candles to restock the Christmas section so I directly took from her cart. At checkout I was told 2/3 of my items were NOT part of the holiday section. I pleaded that there are snowflakes on the lip balm, the palmers lotion said HOLIDAY GIFT SET, and the names of the scents of the candles to which I was told no. A manager and another staff came over to say ok to the lip balm once she saw the snowflake. Then validated her and said she's right these are just red candles it's a no. I one by one picked them up and pleaded "mistletoe noir isn't holiday?" She said ok fine you can have that one. I literally said wow I didn't realize I needed to negotiate and try to convince you for each of these?! As I went and read the names of these candles. She said you don't need to convince me I just didn't read the bottom were really busy. I said then why are saying no before looking?! (Mind you I come here often, there was no one in line, normally line is around the isle and I wait 20min) she stormed away. The way she talked to me was so beyond unacceptable and mean. NO apology for telling me no when not checking. I told the cashier I'm so beyond upset right now this is not how I wanted to feel on my birthday. Moral of the story Barbara didn't let me take many of the candles I am certain were holiday, ultimately I literally got on my car and started sobbing. What a crazy way to spend my day off, and my birthday. Ultimately while Barbara was extremely rude, the ultimate problem is that the items should be in the system as holiday or not instead of letting staff debate with customers. Please change the holiday system for the future, thank you.
