It saddens me to write this review because the restaurant has a horrible location off the main strip of town. And the owners and everyone who works here are wonderful. Incredibly nice and hospitable and provided excellent service. The inside is cute and quaint and you can tell this restaurant was a dream! The inside is small but gives a more intimate feel. The food was not great. The place has amazing reviews, so maybe we stumbled on the wrong food. They don't have a kids menu but have basic pastas for kids. We got ours a spaghetti and meatballs which was a large portion. The sauce tasted can like. I had the shrimp pesto. The sauce was more liquid than a thick creamy pesto, which I normally don't mind. The gnocchi was good but the sauce was heavily seasoned and not super delicious. The shrimp was a large portion and okay. My boyfriend had the lobster risotto. The actually risotto was good but the lobster was tough and overcooked. I only saw pasta selections and not a lot of appetizers. We had the fried Brie cheese which was pretty good. I really enjoyed the bread but had to ask for olive oil. They have a house made eggplant that I didn't care for. The prices were outrageous. Our dinner cost $150 with no alcohol. Overall would not come back, which makes me sad for the business :( read more

Delicious Italian meals freshly prepared. Ambience is upscale with white tablecloths. Service was very attentive. However, a couple policies were bothersome. We had a most delicious lunch today for wife's birthday. We enjoyed a glass of good house Chianti and the meatballs were delicate and light, a delicious appetizer. For our entrees, she had the homemade pasta rings with bolognese (excellent) and I had the ravioli al fungi with portabella marinara - masterful. The fresh pasta was outstanding! For dessert we shared a slice of authentic Italian cheesecake and I had espresso. Delicious! I was so thankful for the friendly service, I hugged and kiss the the cheek of our host and the incredible food exceeded our already high expectations. Eat here. Do it. Just do it. It's not saying much in "best restaurant in Winchester" but this is one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. It not only compares to Italian food in Italy, it beats it. The food is all homemade, prepared with care, and the owner is fully hands on to make sure the food and drinks are fantastic, and also hands on to make sure customers are happy. The entire experience is profoundly incredible. I want to never not be eating there. The gnocchi melts in your mouth, the sauces are deep rich flavors, not like any other place in town what is watered down liquid tomatoes. The food came to the table fresh and hot, served at the perfect time, even though it was a busy night. I am now a life long customer. The drinks were fantastic as well. The wine was an incredible addition to the meal and the delicious sangria was hand made by the owner herself. Our experience commenced when I attempted to make a reservation the evening prior. Regrettably, I was unsuccessful in reaching the restaurant. However, the following day, I was pleasantly surprised to receive a phone call from the restaurant's owner. The owner apologized for not being able to accept my call the previous night and offered to assist me in making my reservation. Upon our arrival, we were greeted warmly at the door and were promptly seated. Throughout the evening, the service was exceptional, as was the cuisine. We stopped in on a whim without a reservation. They had a lot of tables coming in but agreed to seat us if we could be patient. After reading other reviews, we agreed. This was perfect because it allowed me to read more reviews and led me to sample the red sangria, which was the best sangria I have ever had (win!). Each table was spaced nicely away from others, suitable for romantic and semi-private dining. White table linens, a rose, a table light, a bottle of cold water, and some heavy silverware contributed to the elegance and atmosphere. The decor is nice and they were decorated for the holidays. Upon seating, we received a delicious accompaniment Caponata (an eggplant, tomato, onion relish, and rolls. While the rolls were good, they were not what I expected. We ordered the formaggio cin tempura" appetizer, which was oozing brie rolled in almonds served on salad greems and a tomoto drizzled with balsamic glaze...delicious. Our dinner order, selected by the owner's daughter's based on her favorite meals, did not disappoint. My daughter had the Casarecce "Al Salmone" salmon wth pasta and the perfect amount of sauce, which she could not stop eating. I had the Salsiccia di Cinghiale "Condita" which is wild boar sausage with gnocchi in a rich creamy mushroom sauce. Deliciousness. Dessert options were excellent. We settled on the lemoncello and raspberry spongecake and orange sorbet. We will return. What an amazing find. Some of the best Italian outside of Boston's North End or NYC's little Italy. Seriously, no exaggeration as this past Friday enjoyed the boar ragu pappardelle and the veal saltimbacco. So delicious, so full of flavor, just perfect in so many ways. This fantastic meal was followed by the cappuccino cake, moist, creamy, just the perfect finish. We've eaten here many times and look forward to many more meals in the future. In Winchester for a couple of months and began checking out restaurants before we arrived. Italian is always something we look for because my beloved is Sicilian. In any event we we to Antica Tratt and we were not disappointed. We had a great time with Piera, also Sicilian, comparing notes and having a few laughs. But I digress. Onto the food. The bread came out with an amazing lentil dip and we enjoyed that and a bottle of super Tuscan while we waited for the arancini and the special buratta caprese. I ordered the pappardelle in Sunday sauce (IYKYK) and my love ordered the special monk fish. Everything was amazing. The Sunday sauce was perfection and the meats were flavorful and tender. We ended with a lemoncello sponge cake with lemon cream I'm still salivating over. I cannot believe we didn't take pictures of our mains. Probably too excited to dig in. Truly a Winchester gem. Everything from the calamari to the pasta to the dessert (!!!) did not disappoint. The calamari was easy to chew and didn't feel heavy at all. My pasta was cooked perfectly and the clams tasted fresh. But it was the dessert for me. I got the almond parfait of sorts and it wasn't what I was expecting at all. It tasted like almond ice cream with ground nuts throughout. The texture was thicker because of the ground almonds and if you enjoy marzipan then you till love this. The real gem of this restaurant though is the wait staff. My mom got the sangria which was a little too sweet for her so she asked if they could add some red wine. I thought they would refuse but a few minutes later they came out with a bottle and added wine until she was satisfied. My wife and son ate at this restaurant this evening and had a horrible experience. The food quality seemed fine but once my wife left the restaurant, she started to feel ill. She called the restaurant to inform them that they may have some food that has been contaminated. My wife was told that she must have been sick prior to coming to the restaurant.
