This is the only place I've seen a Mufaletta on the menu in the area and was beyond excited to have one for lunch. Sadly, while it has the name, it was basically a ham and cheese on some ciabatta with a thin slice of salami. There was no Mufaletta roll as indicated in the menu, no olive salad spread (just some black olives), no Mortadella. Was very disappointed. My wife had the steak and cheese and said it was great, hence a higher star rating. The ambiance of the restaurant was really nice. We sat in the "outdoor" seating area which being indoors and covered was a nice touch in the winter with the feel of being outside. The service was great, no complaints. We were greeted promptly, food came out quickly and our server checked in with us along the way. Have to admit we've been sleeping on Umberto's since we became Empty Nesters. We used to go with our kids years ago. Tonight I was really wanting a Meatball Sub and saw that theirs is Homemade. Sold! We ordered Mozzarella Sticks, Chicken Alfredo Fettuccine, Fettuccine Carbonara and the Meatball Sub. The salads were so fresh! The 4 stars are only because I requested Extra Marinara with the Meatball Sub and it wasn't included. Fortunately I was able to share the Marinara that came with the Cheesesticks. Also the Carbonara sauce spilled out of the container because the lid came off. Sadly maybe a delivery issue. Most was still in the dish so call it a 4.5. Flavor and temp were perfection. We will definitely be putting Umberto's back on our dining rotation. read more

We are new to the area and had a taste for pasta, seen this was scored 4 1/2 out of 5 and figured it's going to be good. Not one other customer in the whole restaurant should've been our first red flag., we ordered calamari, which ended up being very slimy and slippery. I ordered the chicken Parmesan. The wife ordered spaghetti Alfredo. When the chicken Parmesan come out with spaghetti, the spaghetti looks like it been setting for an hour. Tried it. It had no flavor. Wasn't good at all. Overcooked noodles falling apart. Water was draining from noodles as I took a bite. No flavor in the sauce. Steak sub/ 4/10. Was 50/50 meat and hard/ chewy fat. We pulled off the interstate for gas and while at the pump I saw the very unassuming sign for this place. Boy were we surprised when we decided eating here! Very disappointing turkey and lettuce sub from a restaurant that is supposedly Italian. I ask for no tomato and no mayo, but everything else, and I get no oil, no vinegar, no spices, no peppers, no pickles, no cheese. And a heated roll that is advertised as a cold sub. Not recommended. read more

Italian eatery in Delco Plaza. Nice eatery with full menu of all your Italian Favorites plus hot and cold subs as well as delicious pizzas and calzones. Dishes are well prepared and tasty. I especially enjoy their pizza with a wide variety of toppings. They also have a full bar , good wine selection as well as domestic and Italian beers. Very disappointed when we showed up last night for dinner at 8:40pm on a Friday night (party of 10) Only to be told CLOSED through the glass. The website says that they close at 10pm and so does the sign on the door. It has been a few years since we enjoyed Umberto's- we live further away now and we were looking forward to our visit. When I called today to speak with a manager, I was told that he only speaks Spanish and couldn't really talk to me, and that the two girls working last night probably just wanted to leave early. We have had waitresses we've never met before sit down at our table to rest her feet and complain about her boss and coworkers. Not just one waitress. Delivery equally as bad. Attention ALL CHEFS, you DON'T put sugar in your marinara sauce, good grief........ We got a bottle of Lumbrusco and it was nice. The waitress did not understand what Pecorino Ramano was, this is a huge red flag for an itailian restaurant !!!! Marking as a favorite so we plan on stopping whenever we drove by. UPDATE: have seriously been craving their chicken piccata for this whole last year! We arranged our driving schedule so we could hit this place for lunch today. Got calamari fritti, which was good. Waiting on piccata now! Ok, so the piccata wasn't as good as we remembered, but it was still quite tasty. If you get it, remember to squeeze out all the goodness of the sautéed lemon and mix it in. Mm! UPDATE: It is two weeks later and we were driving by in 81 right at lunchtime. Score! We popped in for spaghetti bolognese and their special of three ravioli in sauce with salad. I will say, the salads are unremarkable. They are primarily iceberg with three kalamata olives two slices of grocery store tomatoes, a few raw mushrooms, and very strong red onion slices. But honestly, we don't come for the salad. We come for the PASTA, which did not disappoint! For 7.50 the lunch portion of bolognese is more than ample, and comes with delicious bread! We really like this restaurant. I always get their linguini with white clam sauce. My wife usually gets grilled shrimp salad. Their food is by far the best anywhere in Winchester and Front Royal. We are wondering if they only have "to go" food while we have the virus. read more
