The food at the restaurant was decent. Nice change from chain restaurants. I have to give them 2 stars instead of 4 for two reasons: First 1 They have on their menua a threat:: if you dine-in and they catch you sharing the food you purchased from them, they will add an additional charge to your bill 2. A warning that they'll also charge you extra for using a credit card. I find both unacceptable. Second, we ordered a pizza from them for their Tuesday deal and they must have given us a pizza that hadn't sold because what we got was clearly made either much earlier in the day or even the day before. They gave us old pizza. Finally, check your bill. The price they tell you at the register might not be what they actually charge you, and not in your favor! read more

It's always a nice time when my family and I go here. From the food to the service, everything is good. My kids always order the pepperoni pizza and they love it. I always get the chicken parmigiana but this time My husband and I shared the lobster ravioli(they serve huge portions). It was ok. I didn't fancy the pink sauce(marinara & Alfredo) . I added crushed peppers and Parmesan cheese and that made it better. However I absolutely love their marinara sauce. Cherry on top is they serve fresh rolls with butter at the beginning. Just ordered a Stromboli from donatos. Mind you. I have ordered and eaten these calzon all over the US. The Stromboli was ham, pepperoni and cheese. To describe what I purchased; Ham was very salty to the point that I could not eat it. The pepperoni was so spicy that my wife and I could not eat it. Was was left? Pizza dough and mozzarella. On a recent trip to Winchester, we ate a couple of times at Donato's Touch of Italy. We enjoyed the mushroom ravioli and the fresh rolls very much and the salads we were served were crisp and fresh. The service was attentive and genial. But a white mushroom pizza at lunch one day turned out to be tasteless with an overly chewy crust that made it pretty hard to eat. We stopped in for lunch for the first time on Tuesday. The waitress got drinks for people next to us that arrived after we did. I finally flagged her down and she asked what we wanted to eat. I requested we order drinks first. Got ice waters fairly quickly but had to wait about 15 minutes for my coffee and her sweet tea. The dinner rolls were so chewy we couldn't eat them. The lunch main meal was good. Never got asked if the meal was OK but got the bill before we were done eating and never asked if we wanted anything else. The husband and I dined here for dinner. After reading some of the reviews I was wondering why this place is always busy. The answer is the food is great. The husband had a small meat lovers pizza. The crust was tasty and nice and thin just as he likes it. No soggy crust and lots of meat and cheese. I had the fettuccini alfredo with shrimp. OMG. So tasty. Loved every mouthful. Villa Donato took over the old location for the previously horrible 'Continental' restaurant location. When my wife and I arrived at the restaurant, we were surprised at how full the parking lot was - thinking this was a good sign, we were excited at what was in store for us. The front door had a large piece of poster board with hand-scribbled 'Specials' of the day. When we walked into the restaurant, there was no hostess station, and no one around. After waiting, we finally asked someone if we just seat ourselves, and instead, we were scoffed at and were told that they would seat us in a moment. Once we were seated, we were told we'd have our drink orders taken momentarily. The first thing we noticed was that we recognized the manager as one of the brothers from 'King's' in Inwood, West Virginia. Having been a huge fan and avid customer of King's, we were eager to try our hand at what appeared to be, by the duplicate of said restaurant, a new King's. Noticing they had no Splenda, only Sweet & Low and Sugar, I opted for a water, and my wife an unsweet tea -- we opted to order Mozzarella Sticks to share as an appetizer. Moments later, the drinks arrived -- the unsweet tea tasted as if it sat around all day and soured -- the water? .. well, it was a Coke. This was a step in the wrong direction. The waitress was horribly rude and never came back to check on us. Instead, I had to wait until after the Appetizer arrived before explaining the error on the water. When she placed the Appetizer down, I said "Thank You", and in turn received another scoff. After debating what we wanted to order, we finally opted to share the Chicken Caesar Salad and Small Cheese Pizza (w/ Extra Cheese) for our meal. Once the meal arrived, it was even worse. The salad portion was large, but tasteless. When it arrived, the salad looked very dry. We asked if the salad had dressing on it, the waitress demanded that it did. After the first bite, we realized that once again, we had been misinformed. Since our waitress refused any call backs from us, we finally waved down another waitress to bring us some dressing. Even with the dressing, the salad wasn't very good. The chicken tasted like it was made earlier in the day and sat around thus making the chicken chewy and dry. The pizza was even worse. The "sauce" tasted like tomato paste mixed with water. While the dough/crust wasn't bad, the sauce really masked the overall flavor with tastelessness. Sadly, this still didn't seem to be the end of the ordeal. Customers all around were complaining of the food, and in turn were receiving Cannolis on the house. Every single table received the treats -- except us. Instead, we were forced to wait nearly 20 minutes after eating before the waitress even acknowledged us again -- and when she did, it wasn't to ask if we needed anything, but instead to present the bill to us. Without even a "Thank You" from the waitress, we paid and went on our way. Sadly, I wish I would have read other reviews on alternate sites before heading in, as it appears that service and food quality has been lackluster since day one; however, I'm generally someone who enjoys trying something new. Villa Donato is by far the absolute worst "Italian" food I've had in Winchester, and neither myself, my friends, or my family will be back. Major, major disappointment -- the "King's" brothers should be ashamed at the tragedy that this restaurant has become in such a short time of being open. read more

This restaurant is under new ownership as Robert's a Touch of Italy. Telephone is still under Denato's. Disappointed that there is a $25 minimum for delivery so had to pick-up. Pizza was good just that crust should have baked a while longer to make it crusty. Used to really enjoy coming here. Portions were large, bread to start was great (garlic rolls). Hadn't been in a while, but experience today was blah. The rolls had been replaced with basically slices of buttered toast? Like garlic bread, but there was no garlic. Odd, and much less satisfying than the rolls were. Portions were definitely smaller too and pasta was not hot (sauce seemed to be what was supposed to heat it). Sauce was good though. Guess what? It's now called Roberta's New owners from Sicily, the new owner's mother/sister was walking around telling all the customers. Looks like they cleaned the place and installed some black banquets for seating. For some reason only on one side of the dining room? I think it's still in progress. Staff told us as well and seemed nervous about it, but still just stood around doing nothing. New menu, higher prices and some changes to the products they serve. Pizza has less cheese less pepperoni and the crust is minimal. More expensive, less greasy but the pizza actually tastes much better. An order of lasagna arrived barely hot enough, very meaty and falling apart. To me this rendition was just ok , but not worth the price. My wife did comment that she thought the sauce was very good. For starters, you don't get anything with your $18 pasta dish - no salad or soup (They did bring a piece of stale bread for everyone). This is the worst excuse of a "homemade" Italian restaurant I have ever experienced. When the food came out we asked if we were going to get our salad and we were told "It does not come with a salad" - Get this... the $9 sandwiches come with a salad.... we learned it is under new management after doing some prying. They make the best thin crust pizza with little sauce and loaded with Pepperoni from edge to edge. The pizza is not triangular but in small square sizes which make it easier to hold to eat. They give you Parmesan cheese and hot pepper flakes to put on the pizza. They also have the best Onion Rings and dipping sauce. read more
