We came to Antigua Bread for lunch with friends. They have multiple locations and I appreciate that this location has a small free parking lot! The interior is cozy and service was friendly. We ordered at the cashier and were given a number for dine-in. We ordered the Mayan Breakfast and Chicken Soup. The Mayan Breakfast was a generous portion with plantains, black beans, two tamales, a chunk of cheese, two eggs, and a serving of bread. The chicken soup was flavorful in large bowl and came with a plate of chicken breast with rice and tortillas. The rice and chicken were a bit under seasoned for me. We also ordered the strawberry hibiscus tea to drink which was excellent. Prices were also fair, $10-$20 range per dish. Overall, a very enjoyable experience for Guatemalan food! read more

So glad I went to check it out, I was off on a random Friday and met up a gf that was coming from Pasadena. They have a nice varied menu and of course I ended up with traditional guate meal. As soon as I saw the bread pudding in their glass case I knew I was having that as my dessert. Service was great from ordering to the young man wiping down the table. We decided to eat out on their patio. Food was good. Eggs were cooked as ordered, platanos were ok needed to be more ripe for my taste and the French bread "pan Frances" that is made in house, was awesome. Also had a cafe de olla, it was ok. I was disappointed with the bread pudding though, it looked better than it tasted. It wasn't moist enough it, no raisins and flavor just wasn't there. My friend and I called in for an early lunch around 11am on a Friday and it was a short wait for our order. The steak was tender and eggs were cooked perfectly over medium. Good amount of saltiness and nice to sop up the yolks with the warm, soft bread. I saved my plantains and heated them up in the air fryer the next day. It's a hearty meal. I was craving chilaquiles and Antigua Bread popped up on Yelp's search result as having one of the best chilaquiles in East LA. I ordered a chilaquiles to go with soft scrambled eggs and a mix of their red and green sauce. The order came with rice and beans. It took me about 15 minutes to start eating my food. I was disappointed that the chilaquiles was already soggy. The flavor was good and the rice and beans were delicious, but I didn't think the chilaquiles would get so soggy so quickly. It was also pretty pricey. The total came out to $16 something. Their website has outdated menu pricing, so expect to pay $2-$3 more than what is on the website. I read they have good sweet bread, so I'll probably come back to try them next time. Customer service was good. Staff were friendly and welcoming. read more

This place was recommended to me my several friends. Finally stopped by to taste their food and drinks. Ordered an horchata latte with oat milk, I will have to rate it an eight out of 10, very tasty! My friend ordered the caramel vanilla latte, she rates it a 6 out of 10, drinkable. She ordered a breakfast sandwich, was not good in taste, cheese was not melted, egg was tasteless/undercooked. I asked the cashier if there was a fettuccine on the menu and she said yes! She said chicken fettuccine, I said okay cool can I get that without the chicken please. My order arrives and it has veggies in it, which include mushrooms. I'm highly allergic and asked if it can be swapped since she didn't mention it had anything else other than the chicken. I've never had chicken fettuccine with any veggies included other than possible broccoli but this was a mixture of random veggies - again fine; but not to mention was wrong and they refused to exchange it. They did say they can recharge me for a new one without the veggies. Sad, I came all the way from Monrovia to enjoy. Sad service, waste of food & money. Will not be returning. Nice spot for a dinning in casual Saturday or Sunday. They have delicious baked goods, good strong coffee and flavors of your choice. The food may take some time in preparing so make sure you're not in a hurry. I order the chilaquiles which is my favorite, eggs over easy and salsa has just enough spice to be able to enjoy. I'm almost ashamed that I haven't written a review yet for my favorite breakfast spot. My absolute favorite chilaquiles by far. They're consistently delicious, I usually order the chilaquiles with both red and green sauce(they come mixed) and it is so flavorful. The chips are crunchy and the rice and beans are very tasty. When dining in for two, we order two iced lattes and two chilaquiles plates which total around $49, which can be a bit pricey but worth it. The quality is definitely worth the price. Tip: when ordering on the phone for pick up, you can ask for the sauce on the side so your chips don't get soggy. Don't forget to ask for crema! My only complaint would be that I feel they need more cheese. The coffee here is really good also, not overly sweet and tastes like good, quality coffee. I recommend the iced vanilla latte. I never understand how restaurants are so lazy/oblivious to just making sure the fucking order is correct.... How hard is it???? I've worked in fast food and high service restaurants and I know the answer, it's not that hard. Just pay the fuck attention. This place is located on Huntington Dr South, right inside of a plaza on the very corner of Berkshire Ave. It's a lil food joint to eat at with some indoor and outdoor seating. The menu is pretty large, but I wish there were more substitute options; like instead of potatoes I wish sweet potatoes were an option. Nonetheless, I ordered the veggie omelette with a side of black beans (they tasted like canned black beans) to substitute the potatoes. I tried to get the mashed black beans on the side specifically, but they were unfortunately trying to charge more (I didn't really like that). My veggie omelette did need some flavor--seasonings. I ordered my girlfriend the chapin sandwich and substituted the bread with whole wheat; which my girlfriend enjoyed the sandwich, but the potatoes were ehhhh. As far as pan dulce (sweet bread), they have some options in their glass display, but no vegan options. For coffee, they have plant-based milk alternatives, which again I wished there was some consistency throughout the menu. Overall it's a 3 star for me. read more

Came here for a drink while I was waiting for my car next door. It was walking distance and it was also toooo hot to just stay at the shop! I got myself an iced mocha I think. It was fairly priced and the drink was pretty satisfying! I'm not a coffee drinker but that was the only drink that I could get off the menu since everything else was just too much for me personally. On saturday morning, it was pretty packed with people having breakfast but my drink came out pretty fast. When brought to their attention, they did not provide proper customer service nor customer recovery. They did not offer to remake the plates nor get a free remake if we return. Awesome breakfast! I hadn't had a traditional Guatemalan breakfast before coming here, but it was definitely something I would return for! My housemates and I had been meaning to come here together for breakfast for two years and we were finally able to a couple weeks ago. They have patio seating so are probably still able to serve people on location at this time, but when we visited we were still able to dine inside. The tables were 6 feet apart and everyone was wearing masks and following guidelines. The two employees I interacted with were friendly and seemed happy to serve us. I ordered the Ultimate Antigua Breakfast and the hibiscus iced tea. I wanted to get a full breakfast that had various tastes and textures, so a breakfast of steak, cheese, black beans, tomatoes, eggs, and plantains was the perfect option. The steak was a little more cooked than I prefer, but still well seasoned and was the right texture for the other items on the plate. They do have a lot of coffee here and it looked good, but I was in the mood for something lighter. The hibiscus tea was good, and sweet, but it was still heavier than what I was hoping for. Luckily, one of my housemates ordered the mango green tea and was willing to switch with me. That drink is less sweet and super refreshing. I was only able to eat half my breakfast so I took the other half to go. Two days later, it made a great second breakfast, even nuked in the microwave. And of course...the bread! So good and nearby! It's hard to find authentic Guatemalan food that doesn't require driving to Koreatown. I ordered the Antigua breakfast and one of each of the panes.
