purchased things from this place many times for different tv shows. I know from experience they are the same people that own Antique Station 40 ft across the walkway. I have been calling Antique Station all day with no luck to let them know when we would be coming to pick up purchases made last week. Due to this I tried Antique Depot hoping they could tell me if they were closed on Mondays or something that would explain the no answering. The woman who answered said "yes, they are open. Their phones aren't working". I asked politely if she would mind passing on a message. She replied, no I will not pass a message on. I said, you are the same company right? She says, we are owned by the same people. I said, so you wont walk across the walkway and pass a simple message on to them for me? She replies, NO I am busy. I asked for the owners info, so I could contact them and see if they wouldn't mind passing a message onto the other shop for me. She said, the owners are out of town and hung up. read more

If there is an antique mall to skip in the Orange Circle area, it's this one. While large, with two floors to explore, Antique Depot is sadly made up of items from the 80s, 90s, and today, with only a handful of true vintage or antique items scattered about. Of the true vintage, you'll find a decent selection of jewelry, and a small amount of 50s and 60s housewares in one booth. But that's the thing about antique malls, dealers could change at any moment. So what is there today, could be gone tomorrow. Downstairs feels like a bargain basement that has been forgotten about, as many booths look like storage units, with items strewn about, with no sense of display or shopping connivence. Digging and stepping over objects is something you will do here, but you honestly shouldn't have to at antique malls. And sometimes you'll find something without a price. Out of the many visits here, I think I've only bought something here once, while I've bought countless items at the other antique malls in the area. read more

Very rude woman behind the counter. Found exactly what I was looking for that was going to be a Christmas gift. I asked a young man who was working there if I place an offer to the owner ($25 lower than the tag price) he said sure and was going to get my phone number so the owner could agree or disagree on my offer. However. The woman behind the counter told the young man very loudly and rudely that she would not contact the owner and she would "Absolutly Not contact the owner.^ So too bad. This depot is a great place for Antique hunt where there are enough vendors for varieties of stuff. Their staff is very friendly and helpful as well. They also open daily. This weekend, we went in and also found some winners! I like what I saw there and would definitely mark this place for more future visits! It has two floors filled with many booths. There are always some art pieces, busts or small furniture pieces there. They have their own parking area for guests and is located in the district. Have fun if you go! read more

I love antique stores. Seriously love. That being said, this is the worst antique store I've ever been in. I've gone in here numerous times hoping for a change, but I always come out feeling justified in my dislike for this establishment. I'll list the problems as best I can. 1. Rude employees. This is a big one. I don't like being stared at and not greeted when I enter a store. I don't like hearing employees yell at customers. I really don't like the attitude they all have there. 2. Poorly organized store. It's just... off. Between the narrow walkways, dim lighting and doorways you have to shimmy through, it's like they want you to break things so you have to pay for them. 3. Their pricing is absurdly high. I know the proper prices of a lot of things, no one wants to be gouged! Needed a new cane because I'm old and broken. Visited 5 other antique shops for canes and found a few but wasn't happy with any of them. In February of 2004, I had a pretty severe back injury. Since then, I've done all I could to stay strong and healthy and to do as much damage control as humanly possible. But once in a while, scar tissue breaks up or muscle strain happens from over use and I'm right back to where I started six years ago. My first cane was solid mahogany with a polished brass head. Beautiful cane and sturdy as a sailing mast...until it snapped. I guess I lean on it too much. After strolling around the Orange Circle in quite a bit of pain and coming up empty handed, I walked into Antique Depot and said to myself, "Last one. I can't handle this anymore. I either buy something here or I go to Walgreens and get a titanium cane." Wandering around, I saw a few canes scattered here and there but nothing that appealed to me or fit my style or height. I gave up so I started to make my way out but decided to take the scenic loop. Wait. What's this? I find, hidden between 4 other fairly regular looking walking sticks, a BEAUTIFUL antique made of bone with Japanese style etchings along the shaft. It was gorgeous, had character, and was the perfect height. I didn't care about the price. It was exactly what I wanted and I wasn't about to go buy a clinic stick. Employees are laid back and friendly. Store organization leaves a bit to be desired, but encourages wandering. Inventory is HUGE. If I were into antiquing, I'd come here more often, but since I'm not, I'll leave this at a 3/5 rating simply because I don't know enough about antique shops to judge rightly. Thanks, Antique Depot. Stark contrast from the Higgins days, the previous company with high end antique furnishings and collectibles. From the street the store looks like junk. I wish they cared more about the appearance and knew a thing or two about merchandising. No order, rhyme or reason and just "sad". read more

I don't get all the negative reviews...my experience has always been positive. The store is located in Old Town Orange, which is a really great spot to hang out at. There are other antique stores, a nice selection of restaurants and places to have coffee. The store is large and has two levels. I think there is a good selection of merchandise, but it depends on what you are looking for. I buy larger furniture pieces, artwork, porcelains and jewelry...so there's plenty of that stuff there. I can't complain about the staff because I have never had a problem. If anything, some of the ladies have gone out of there way to be helpful. read more

Walking around this beautiful and inviting antique depot, I was truly amazed at all the historical pieces they had. From as far back as 1800's, you can see how things have evolved as well as gone out of style. At times I imaged what life was like many years ago and found myself wanting to experience it, for one day. Crazy yes I know, but that is how I connect with History. The two girls working at this mall that I had the unfortunate experience of talking to were both unforgivably rude. I'll start at the beginning. My mom and I were here a couple of weeks ago and she saw a pair of sconces that she liked although the rest of the merchandise was pretty average and overpriced. A few days ago I decided that they would make a great present for my mom and called to inquire about the sconces. The girl who answered the phone very obviously did not want to help me. She probably just wanted to sit around doing nothing and getting paid for it and was bothered by a customer interfering with her day. She first told me repeatedly that she had never seen any sconces matching the description each time I described them. Then, when I asked if she would mind having a look, she replied that the mall was so huge that she wouldn't have any idea where they could be. I told her the exact location and she came back to the phone and, surprise, she found them. Her name was Jane. Now, I wanted to ask about shipping because I live so far away. Jane instantly replied that they do not ship. I asked if the dealer would possibly consider it (being brought up in the antique industry, I figured the dealer would jump at the chance to sell a pair of $400 sconces.) Jane really did not want to contact the dealer and refused to let me do so. She grudgingly said she would leave the dealer a note but hung up without even asking my name or phone number. The next day I called Jane and she said the dealer had not responded. The day after that, today, I called and spoke with and even ruder girl whose name I do not know. She started off by saying that she didn't have any idea what I was talking about and so she couldn't help me. I patiently explained everything to her being sure to include the number of the booth where the sconces were located. She said that Jane had not left a note about the sconces and so she still could not help me. So I asked her if she would mind calling the dealer to ask about shipping and she said that she knew that nobody in the mall would ship. I replied that it did not hurt to ask and then the woman on the phone said that she HAD heard from the dealer and that the dealer would not ship them. That sounded like a straight up lie to me, so I asked why she had just said a moment ago that she did not know what I was talking about. She then began talking to me in a very condescending voice like I was an idiot and slowly and deliberately spelled out how there was another person working in the mall who had gone to ask another person who was working the day before...blah, blah, blah..and the dealer would not ship. I said thank you for your help, but it is not necessary to talk to me like I am two. And she said, well you don't need to be such an evil b****! And hung up. Yes, that means female dog. It is absolutely unbelievable that someone working in an antique mall could be so incredibly rude!! I sure hope the owner of the store sees this review because he needs to know just exactly how unhelpful his staff is! And the poor dealers who have their goods at that location should complain as well - how will they sell anything with mean girls like that working at the Antique Depot!? I have decided that I will not be purchasing the wall sconces, even though I had planned on making a trip to Orange to get them if they would not ship them. Not anymore and never again. read more

I was hesitant to go in here, based on it's low rating, but ended up in here anyway. They had a few items of interest to me, but thank goodness for smart phones as I found one of the items for a 1/4th of the price online! I also found a lovely set of Jadite salt & pepper shakers, but when I looked at them I saw that they were not McKee and the salesman told me they were actually new and not vintage. For the high price they were asking for fakes, I decided against it. They also put me off by putting stickers on mint condition boxes/items which ruins the boxes when you try to take their price tag off!! That's like rule #2 of running an antique store that they failed at (#1 being good customer service). I saw a few items that I was gonna keep in my head if I didn't find anything else to buy on the trip. Their prices are normal LA prices (similar also to NYC, Boston, SF prices that I've found - which I didn't think would be the case!). I was also buying for someone else and found an item that he was interested in, in a 20% off case. The salesman confirmed that they were 20% off and set them aside for me. I eventually went to pay & when they rang me up and I asked about the 20% off they said it didnt apply to my item. They flat out refused to be flexible at all and pointed out the "ND" marking on the tag (No discount). They were quite obnoxious about it all as well... I went on to say how the salesman confirmed that it was 20% off when we were at the case and he flat out denied it to the cash register ladies! He lied right to my face! Then I mentioned how they don't have the best reviews online and that I would be adding to the bad reviews, and the older lady of the two cashier ladies said (in her own words) that she couldn't care less. She said that she "has to eat" and if she gave me the discount (all of $5) that she would have to pay the difference, which she wouldn't do and she knew the other salesman wouldn't either. I said that I was shocked at how awful their customer service was, but they just shrugged. I left as I do not approve of that kind of business. I called my client and he wanted me to go buy the item still, so I did, but I did so with a grudge. The younger cashier let me go without paying tax, but the older lady still kept on with her snide, unhelpful remarks. While I will be back to the area, I will steer clear of this place! Not only that, I ended up not buying anything else that day and would of gladly come back for a more expensive jewelry box, but definitely decided against it after that experience! read more

Every time that I have been to the Antique Depot the women that work there have ALWAYS been more than helpful in finding whatever I needed to find. They always are smiling and seem to enjoy working with the public. They're always laughing and cracking jokes when not waiting on customers. I know for a fact, as I've witnessed it myself; that they get some REALLY CRANKY customers that treat them poorly when they don't get their way, or get a big enough discount on a specific item. It is a mall and for the most part a "self serve" place of business. There are literally thousands of items in this mall and the women working there are usually pretty helpful in trying to help me locate something specific that I'm looking for! This is but another antique mall that needs to be supported. Don't be fooled by those shoppers that expect everything for free. They'll spend several days shopping at swap meets to get a better price, not realizing if they had paid themselves minimum wage for their time, they would have been better off paying a little more and supporting the antique community at the same time.I love having booths with lots of different mechandise. All I expect of the help is to be there during business hours and leave a message for the sellers if I'd like to negotiate a better price. I've never not bought something I wanted out of spite, seems kind of stupid. Great selection of items. Staff could have been more helpful and friendlier. They didn't want to let us in even though we arrived 20 minutes before closing. They were reluctant to open any cases for us. They were more interested in trying to get us out of the shop. We did find a broach we purchased as we were insistent they open a case. There was also a dining table we were interested in that was $$$. I decided to not come back to purchase it out of sheer principal due to the poor service. Always an interesting hunt for a special item you may be looking for or one you discover you can't live without. No antique mall is a consistent source for treasure like they were 20 years ago. Reasons and many factored just like every other retail business-- market and generational transitions. HOWEVER, antique shopping is still a favorite pastime and Antique Depot and the shops in this area can fill an entire day with that enjoyment and some great buys. Hmm... my "finds" at Depot have included my reverse painted 1920s table lamp, Noritake powder jar (best Bday gift for my wife), 2 early SW landscape paintings, cut glass humidor etc..Yes, there are wonderful discoveries to be made still. I too am surprised by the negative reviews. I've been in this place quite a few times & never had any problems. The cashier's are always pretty easy going, if not somewhat laid-back. There is one guy who is really knowledgeable and friendly who keeps a booth there and often works at the cashier box. I love strolling through the many antique malls in the Orange Circle (Old Towne). Love that it's close to my home as well... This Place is loaded with tons of little booths in which dealers decorate their booths with whatever they specialize in selling. I noticed one booth that had tons of Bakelite jewelry. I am a fan of anything Bakelite. But, it's rare to find spacers or bracelets in the color black. I misplaced a rad set that I had but I have been recollecting them thanks to my friend EBay and flee markets.... So, when I saw that this dealer in the Antique Depot had a couple of black spacers I was stoked.. (one could never have enough Bakelite).... Not stoked that they wanted $40 per spacer... Sorry, I prefer to hunt and find deals.... I really like the feeling that I get when I find Bakelite and the seller doesn't know what he or she has and I buy it for a steal and I also like the feeling that I get when testing Bakelite.. The rub and sniff test... Or the run under warm water test... (if it's real it will smell like formaldehyde) MMM I love the smell of Bakelite... ... Unfortunately, in these antique malls these dealers know what they are selling... So, they jack up the prices.. But, whatever.. It's fun to roam around.... I admit I have spent a lot of money on pieces that I felt were rare and worth it. But, when it comes to Bakelite.. Sorry...... UNLESS it's really rare I will not be spending money on it. I had a similar experience with the same sales person at this store. Jane was rude to me the 2 times that I went into the store. I was attempting to puchase an item that was over $400 and asked if they would check with the dealer to see if they would consider a discount. Other stores they will call the dealer to see if they would consider 20% off etc. She couldn't be bothered! She barely even looked at me when I was asking and was almost hostile. I feel sorry for the dealers that have items in this store. I will NEVER go in there again, I have a friend who had a similar experience with this person too. I have been shopping here for years, Everyone is so helpful and goes out of there way to help me find what I need!! I really enjoy going in everyone is friendly and so helpful. I have found MANY reasonable items at the depot. I know the employees will help you find what you want , unfortunately I have also witnessed customers who demand a discount when the employees cannot give it. I have heard the employees tell them very nicely and try to explain if an item has N.D. they cannot give a discount, one customer, Meera, who left a message on yelp told the employees if she did NOT get a discount she would write a bad review on yelp! I was shocked! She actually threatened her if she didn't get a discount she would give a bad review on yelp!
