I'm confused- is it by appt only? I came today (a wednesday) during business hours but it was closed :( I don't really want to schedule an appt either just to browse around. I'm just curious because it looks like a cute shop :/

I called the owner and it looks like the shop is no longer a shop but an art studio. They do hold a market every 4th Sunday in the parking lot.

. The shop is located in Old Town Tustin and there are tons of little shops and restaurants close by, and an assistance league thrift store across the street..

When we arrived, they told me there is also a mandatory 18% gratuity. First, that is legally supposed to be disclosed clearly and in advance which it was not. The kids picked out their paint colors and then we found out that your location was out of (six) different colors that they wanted and they had to settle for less appealing options. The attendants were slow to replenish the paint and acted like it was an inconvenience, even though they were getting a "mandatory gratuity". They could have been nicer and more friendly. One of the colors they "replenished" was not the same color as we got at the beginning even though we asked for the same color # and the attendant even checked the # to make sure, and one of the kids ending up having two different colors of paint in one section of her ceramic piece that she was really disappointed about. When we asked the attendant how we could fix it, she said she didn't know and literally walked away mid-conversation to help someone else. She clearly did not care about our party once we sat down. My bill was almost $300 and the mandatory gratuity was $49.32 which was absolutely not worth the service we got. I doubt we would come back to your store since we never had this issue at Color Me Mine.

Working with clay requires patience, creativity, and real time problem solving, which has been such a wonderful experience for her. I especially love that pottery teaches her to embrace the process rather than expect instant gratification. There's no rushing to a finished product...you have to work through each step, learn from mistakes, and sometimes figure out how to solve a problem when things don't go as planned. It has been so rewarding to watch her challenge herself, develop new skills, and become more confident in her ability to work through frustration and find solutions. These are skills that extend far beyond the studio, and I'm so grateful she has a place where she can develop them while doing something she genuinely enjoys. The staff are also amazing and clearly passionate about what they do. You can tell how much they care about the kids and their creative growth. We highly recommend Mud Hen Clay and Art Studio! It's a wonderful place for kids to create, learn, challenge themselves, and grow.

This was for a public class on a Saturday at around 4:30 PM. The class consisted of 8 people max and seemed to be all couples. All of the equipment was prepared like an apron, clay, pottery wheel, etc. We had an instructor that was very knowledgeable and explained everything from start to finish. Complex technicals were explained in layman's terms. We were given enough clay to create 3 pieces but could keep up to two. The instructor also frequently went around to check everyone's pieces and was able to troubleshoot as needed. It was a fun experience but be very prepared to get your hands dirty! The glazing portion was separate from the class. There was no reservation needed for that so I did it the same day that I went to see the ceramics. For parking, street parking could be hit or miss depending on the time. I'd recommend coming early to have ample time to find parking. Overall, I enjoyed the experience enough. It could have been perfect if the staff here remembered to follow up on when the ceramics were ready for pickup. I am happy with the end result though.

My wife got out of the car and was at the door inside that window. They wouldn't let her in without me, and I was still parking. I walked in 11 minutes after the start -- one minute past their cutoff. There were maybe four to six people in the room. I explained the family situation involving my son. I told them it was our anniversary. My wife was distraught, and I pleaded with them and tried to reason with them. They turned us away anyway. We weren't asking anyone to slow the class down or stay late -- we would have caught up on our own. My wife left humiliated on the day she had planned as a gift. I get it -- you have to run a business, and you have to start on time. But she was there inside the window you gave us and you wouldn't seat her. It came down to one minute and two people standing in front of you, and you chose the minute. The class started without us. So did the last impression I'll have of this place.

It was massive. They have seasonal summer flowered that are rather expensive, most of which are $9-$10 per bunch. Luckily there are spring season flower sales, which range from 30-50%. Some of the florals and greens are more realistic than others. However, these would be great and timeless alternatives for event decor. The baking section was pretty good too. They had a lot of the kitchen ware in stock, like pans, plastic cutting boards, cake packaging, etc. I personally got 2 kitchen oven mits, which were good quality and was priced competitively compared to other stores. The store also has a coupon deal of 30% off one item. They were kind enough to advertise at entrance right by the door. The customer service here is also very friendly.
