Usually, you pick up from the little takeout window on the inner street (it's easy to stand and eat honestly). Also, servers had masks on and were pretty on point with sanitizing the benches. Food - I had the Garlic shrimp, pork carnitas, some steak, and the sweet & spicy chicken tacos (I shared...obviously!). As far as I remember, pork one was delicious, the chicken one was my least favorite, shrimp and steak were equally good. Yummmmmm! I had the steak tacos and the Cheese Curds with Chili (yes, i threw my diet and caution to the wind) for lunch last weekend. The steak tacos seemed a little pricey, but there was a ton of beef on them and they were Delicious. The cheese curds were even better. Fried cheese in spicy chili was a truly awesome, but unhealthy, combination that I will order again after my next 25 mile bike ride (what can i say, i like to remain svelte). How did I never have his during my two years living in Wisconsin, home of all things cheese curd-ish? I am still in shock... What else can I say? The staff was very friendly. Service was a little slow, but not tear out your hair slow. Prices were a little high, but ultimately reasonable when after tasting the food. Place was pretty cute. What's not to like? Overall: Good spot for some tasty tacos for a casual lunch. The good: The tacos are a good size and for the most part are very tasty. The meats were all tender and juice and seasoned well. The tortillas were great too. The guacamole and chips was awesome. Even the horchata tasted good. The bad: The chairs are uncomfortable. The sweet and spicy taco wasn't great compared to others I tried. If you want anything more than 2 tacos, it's kind of expensive for what you get. Not a ton of seating. Their fish taco is better than Big Star's. There. I said it. They serve hunks of fish on each taco and the sriracha sauce compliments it very well. We practically ordered every taco. If I had to rank the ones I liked the best, it would go as follows Fish, Pork, Ribeye and Shrimp. I was very disappointed with the shrimp taco. I wish there was more seasoning. Stopped in here for lunch at Wicker Fest: great concept! The antique part comes with the decor I think: you feel like you are in a country shack, but a chic one. The tacos come in pairs--two isn't quite enough so you should get a side (chili cheese curds were amazing) or dare eat 4, which wouldn't be too bad if you are hungry. It adds up quick for tacos, definitely more of a craft-food/fused approach but it was worth it to try their flavors, which were flavorful and fun combinations. Not your average tacos. I usually prefer my tacos very simple. These are anything but simple, but everything comes together beautifully in all of the tacos at Antique Taco. I've had the crispy fish, pork carnitas, garlic shrimp and grilled steak, and all of them are delicious. The crispy fish and garlic shrimp are my favorites. It was not what I expected... Kind of disappointed to be honest. Our table tried a variety of things and some things turned out better than others. Chili Cheese Curds - The most incredible creation. Actually the only thing I really enjoy eating the most. It's really unique to combine chili with cheese curds and it was topped off with tortilla chips. Unique and tasty. Guac & Chips - Pretty good but I think for $7 is too overpriced. All the tacos consume had way too much going on. The meat was plentiful but the toppings attached, made the flavoring off and it wasn't satisfying. I had pick out a lot of the things out because it was way too much going on. I'll admit the menu is one I initially turned my nose up at; kale and cauliflower and garlic shrimp? Sweet potatoes and a chipotle & cheese concoction? But, let me tell you: It's a win. A beautiful win. Apparently the tacos used to come as 2 for the price of one now. I can only assume they used to be much smaller before. One of my favorite taco joints! They have margaritas by the pitcher, and have a pretty wide range of food options to choose from. Due to COVID, we had to sit outside with pretty limited number of tables in a small sidewalk. The workers wore masks, but we noticed that the tables weren't being cleaned after each customer. They did have small bar tops where you could stand and eat if you're looking to just grab a quick bite. Overall, great food experience but not so much COVID-considerate. Oh merci! Just ordered 5 tacos, elote, and dessert for delivery on this lovely gray day in Chicago. Just took a bite out of 4 of the 4 - started with shrimp then steak - followed by the carnitas and then a bite of the one with chicken. Had to stop just to savor the flavors and write this review. Moved here a year ago - have asked people where to get great tacos and I don't seem to have this place on my list. It's def on the list now and I will now bore the heck out of anyone who will listen to me about these tacos. The elote is now tied with my other fav place that makes BBQ. This just make my weekend! I always liked this place. I think they have better tacos than another trendy taco place nearby that often gets more hype. Anyway; because of COVID-19 I've been WFH and going to the antique taco takeout window more frequently. Margaritas to go, tacos to go, or you can eat at their new expanded outdoor seating. They even have small Standing tables for 2; for if you just wanna hang for snacks & margaritas. I just polished off the taco Tuesday special. Abuelita's pop tart is also amazing. I just don't get the high marks for here. I love Mexican food, but Antique Tacos was not good. Very overrated in my opinion. We started with the queso and chips. Worst queso ever. It was as if they melted cheese in a microwave and served it. My husband equated it to Velveeta, but I think Velveeta has a better consistency than this. It was pure clumps of cheese. We ended up leaving most of it. For tacos, we had the potato and poblano, garlic shrimp, and the sweet and spicy chicken. You get two tacos on flour tortillas so they are larger than your usual corn tacos at other places. We asked for the habanero sauce and were pouring it on the tacos...which tells you two things. a) The tacos needed more flavor and b) the habanero sauce wasn't that spicy. None of the tacos were that great. Had potential with the menu descriptions but fell very flat in execution. I had the watermelon margarita, which I actually thought was the highlight of my meal. Had a great watermelon juice flavor and I would get that again. But I certainly won't make the trip to Wicker Park again for a margarita. read more

SUPER DELICIOUS. I ordered the Chili Cheese Curds (which were BOMB AF), fish taco (also delicious!!!) and chips + queso. The chili cheese curds tasted like heaven. My fav thing ever!! The cheese was fluffy & airy, the chilli was smooth and tbh it was the best chili I've had in my life. When you're here, you MUST order the chilli cheese curds or you'll regret coming to Chicago w/o tasting it. The fish taco was awesome too (didn't really eat that much but my friends absolutely loves it!). The queso tasted like REAL CHEESE, which was super delicious. The chips were really good as well, perfectly seasoned and it has the perfect crunch! This review is based solely on the taco salad. I had tacos here a couple years back and remember being pretty disappointed. However, the kale salad here is incredible. Even after reading many raving reviews, I wasn't convinced by the ingredient combinations but this just worked. The toppings are well distributed so I'm assuming they toss it before you get it which is awesome! It's very filling and for $4 I got 6 shrimp... but they were also delicious so no complaints. This is a pretty dang hipster taco place. Everything about the decor is Instagram-ready, from the wooden tables and stools to mason jar glasses to signs printed with taco-related phrases. If that stuff tickles your fancy (like it does mine) then you should definitely visit Antique Taco. That said, the food was very good too. For a table of 4, we got 6 taco dishes, an horchata milkshake, a pineapple ginger agua fresca, and a slice of key lime pie. I personally tried the mushroom, pork, and fried fish tacos, all of which were tasty. The mushroom taco actually had the most flavor, and I loved the addition of kale because I'm a basic betch. The pork one was surprisingly more light and fresh, as it contained fresh spinach and avocado. The fish one, which seems popular on Yelp, was the least complex. It was basically a big chunk of fried fish with a tortilla, but I like fish so it was still good. Next time, I would try the garlic shrimp for my seafood item since it seems more interesting, flavor-wise. As for the non-taco items, my horchata milkshake tasted delicious though it was a bit too watery for my liking -- maybe it wasn't blended that well. It was more horchata than shake, if that makes sense. The Bang Bang key lime pie was actually a huge winner! It was very smooth and silky without being mushy, with a generous crust and crumbles on top. Didn't get to try the agua fresca but others said it was good. The rule of ordering before sitting down causes a back log of people that goes well beyond the door. I prob had to wait 30mins to get in? The menu for tacos (dos) is 2 per order. My friend and I had the crispy fish tempura (so good and crispy), pork carnitas (spicy actually), and the sweet & spicy chicken. All the tacos are really good and substantial. Reasonably priced I think at $7-8 for 2 tacos. Bigger and done better than Big Star in my opinion. Decor is nice, they also have a small patio outside too. Note* No wifi for customers available but they have some power outlets near the high tables for 2 people. Also, I think there are only 2 washrooms? One of my favorite things to eat is a crispy fish taco, and Antique Taco has one of the best I've had in Chicago. The fish is covered with a generous layer of tempura and fried to perfection. I love the spicy tartar sauce and cabbage that it's dressed in. I've also gotten the garlic shrimp and carnitas tacos which were both great. A couple of months ago they had a braised lamb taco special which was a great addition. I recently also had the taco salad which was flavorful and filling. I wish we were able to mix the tacos instead of only being able to order two of the same flavors, but that certainly does not stop me from coming back! read more

Delivery Order: So once again, we didn't get an item in our order from DoorDash (the guacamole this time), and in their infinite wisdom, DoorDash is only offering a refund of $10 (which covers just the item, none of its portion of the HUGE fees we pay to get delivery), so we can't even get it *redelivered* b/c it's $20 to get it delivered with all the fees. WHY ARE WE ALL STILL USING DELIVERY APPS? So I called Antique Taco to let them know they forgot the guac, and the mgr wouldn't even get on the phone & said them forgetting the guac was a "3rd party issue" and that they had no ctrl over how much DD would refund. He said we could "pick it up at the store". How kind since I've already paid $30 in delivery and fees! No offer to send a gift card to cover the cost and time and hassle. Came here fresh off the airport. They have a large open area with outside seating. Funky and cute decor. They had two Tacos specials going (cumin lamb and ribeye) aside from their regular menu. Decisions decisions. After much deliberation, went for the pork carnitas and garlic shrimp. The pork was tender & juicy in a great sauce, spinach, avocado and crispy bacon on top. I only wish I had found them sooner! After spending a few years in Texas, I'm somewhat of a taco snob. These are not the taco truck variety, but the the more artisanal variety. Great tortillas - only wish they'd double up on the corn - but that's not enough to take off a star because the flavors are that good! You can tell AT uses quality ingredients and makes a dang fine taco. My personal favs are the shrimp and special on Tuesday. Guac and margs are also fantastic. Sorry, no Chili cheese curds: bomb Horchata milkshake: skip it. By the way, if you want to know what it's like to suck the devil's appendage; practice on a cardboard straw.
