They were more than accommodating, helpful, friendly and full of knowledge about Pelican Lake and the surrounding areas. I came with my boyfriends family who have been fishing for 30+ years. These past four years I fish regularly and really like it...but now I get it-and I love it. The Lake will make you a fisherman. The sun is up at 5a and doesn't set until almost 10p on some nights. When it's too hot try out the putting (it's pretty challenging and well maintained) They have Frisbee Golf, a bike boat, canoes and some great places to sit, relax and enjoy the view and sounds of Orr, MN. I was very comfortable and felt very safe. If you need anything town is just 15 minutes away. Each cabin has a BBQ and some come with a dock (we were lucky ours had one) I wish I had more time than a week. I just went into the lodge for the first time right before we left and it was amazing. We sat in whirlpool, but the rooms floors where black/white and when we attempted to go into the pool, we walked out a.s.a.p. because of the brown floors that also needed scrubbing. Ugghhh! Coming in after the dinner rush, the dining room was still showing battle scars from the clearly busy dinner crowd, but the staff was friendly and accommodating. Menu was small, but offered enough variety. I opted for a caesar salad, adding chicken. Salad was delicious and clearly used all fresh ingredients. Being a party of one, rather than take up a table I sat at the bar. Bartender was very friendly and helped offered tips for things to do while I was in town. Would recommend!

They also have free bike rentals, a great sand volleyball court, horseshoes, basketball, tennis and pickle ball. And if the lake is warm enough, there is a waterslide in the lake which looked fun. We were here Memorial Day weekend, and the weather was beautiful our first day, so we took out the paddleboards, and that was fun. The weather got chilly quickly, so I didn't have the opportunity to try the rest of the amenities. The pool is currently closed for construction. (There is a nice pool at the YMCA in Grand Rapids which we used one day for a $10 day pass). We stayed in a two bedroom lakefront cabin which was nice, but fairly rustic, and one of the bedrooms had absolutely no storage, (no closet, shelves or dresser). Next time, I think we would stay in the lodge rooms, which are a bit more upscale, with fireplaces, full kitchens, Jacuzzi tub and nicer furnishings. They have a restaurant/bar on site with a an outdoor patio and nice view of the lake, which is convenient. They also have free coffee and muffins in the morning at the front desk and at Otis's.The staff and management were incredibly helpful, friendly and accommodating. I definitely recommend, and look forward to coming here again, hopefully when the weather is a little warmer!

When I called to make our reservation, I mentioned my son is in a wheelchair and needed to make sure they could accommodate him -- no hesitation at all, they took care of it without making it a big deal. When we arrived, Jeff came out of the restaurant, spotted me, and said "Hey Chris" like we were old friends. I turned around, we shook hands -- that kind of personal welcome is rare these days and it set the tone for the whole meal. The food backed it up completely. The prime rib was genuinely one of the top 3 I've had in my life, and I've eaten at Lawry's -- that's the bar I'm measuring against. The relish tray had these cucumbers that were somehow outstanding, which sounds like a small thing but stuck with me. And the poke cake for dessert was better than any I've had -- moist, well-balanced, not the least bit gimmicky. As someone who spent 20 years as a classically trained chef, that's not a compliment I give out easily. If you're anywhere near Orr, MN, this place deserves the drive.
