Pet-friendly 2-story motel in Chester, close to Lassen National Park. Rooms are quite clean and come with some amnesties, including makeup wipes and coffee/cocoa mix keurig cups. Room is spacious, even for a party of 4. There is also an area outside to lounge as well as an area for dogs, although the area for dogs is not well kept. Luckily, there is Chester Park about 5 minutes a walk away, which is super dog friendly. Parking lot contains EV chargers. Noise-wise, we stayed in a room on the first floor, and you could hear the people upstairs walking around. You can also hear noise outside as well. read more

We stayed there a few weeks ago. Pretty close to Lassen National Park. They allow dogs and they have free coffee in the lobby all day. This is quite the perk (for me anyway)! The beds and pillows were super comfy and inspired me to buy new bed pillows for my own bed! Everything was really clean. The towels smelled clean, not that typical bleach-smell. The place is close to shops and restaurants. Best part was "Cujo" was playing on TV and we had my little chihuahua "Kujo" watch it with us! read more

Antler's Inn is great for what it is: Clean, affordable, basic, and owner operated for many years by Dan. I have stayed there several times over the years to bike in the area and climb Mt. Lassen. It's a good location because the market is across the street, and "Cravings" a great coffee and breakfast place (with bookstore and gifts too) is two doors down. Thanks to Dan this past weekend for letting us check in early (even though he was very busy) so we could change cloths before heading out for a bike ride! read more

My husband was hiking the Pacific Crest Trail with the intention of stopping to camp near Chester on his way to Truckee. He is an avid hiker but with the unexpected heat, he fell ill about 10 miles from town. He was queasy, faint and was having a hard time putting thoughts together. He believed he was suffering from heat stroke. He was able to text me for help, and keep walking. I tried to book a hotel room for him as I was four hours away. I couldn't find anything. Everything was booked for summer and it was Fathers Day weekend. As a last resort I left a message on the machine at the Antler Motel. I grabbed some camping gear and started driving. I was honestly expecting we'd sleep in my truck, when the Antler called with a room! Not only that, they offered to hold the room for me, even though I had no idea when (or if) we'd arrive once I found my husband. (Luckily, a Ranger and a campground host saw his distress and drove my husband to the hotel.) Everyone he encountered was great. The hotel staff was nothing but nice, concerned and wonderful. The room provided was very spacious, clean and a cool refuge from the heat. Knowing he had a room to rest and recover while I drove put my mind at ease. We began our spring break this year with a lovely trip to Lassen county. Antlers Motel was the perfect home base. The room was huge with a full size coffee maker and large mini fridge. The innkeeper was very helpful and friendly sharing his knowledge of the area. Cravings right next door served awesome breakfast. The Antlers Motel is a very clean place to stay in Chester with the unfortunate downside that it is a little too easy to hear neighbors through the walls. The staff at Antlers was immediately friendly. We checked in quickly and found the room to be in great condition. Almost everything seemed very new and in great condition. Although we thought we'd be far from Lassen Park, it only took thirty minutes to get there from Chester. On the first night things seemed fairly quiet. But on the second night it became obvious that anyone talking in the next room was easy to hear through the walls, which kept waking us up. Fortunately, its just as easy for the neighbors to hear me bang on the wall. ;) All the same, if you're going to Chester, I think Antlers is the place to stay. So long as your neighbors stay quiet, you'll be comfortable here. read more

This is the cleanest motel I've been to in a while. Well... It is brand new. The old place, a dump, was razed and replaced with this two-level motel. They re-opened last February. The rooms are large and clean. There are (small) flat screen Tvs with DISH in the rooms along with double sinks to ease sharing the room with your S.O. The rooms have blinds, but could use drapes to block out more light. It's (walking distance) close to everything there is in town. Free wi-fi for those in the need on the road. It could use a pool or hot tub, but no one else in town has one either. read more

Arrived late without reservations in early October but they accommodated us during duck hunting season. Mattress covers were a distraction and bathroom could have used a table or shelving but they provided us with safe quiet shelter for the night. What an adorable hotel! I arrived around 11pm so I called ahead to make sure someone was at the front desk. Not to worry! I was greeted by a super friendly & helpful guy (I am so mad at myself for forgetting his name!). I was pleasantly THRILLED at the quality of the room! It was enormous and clean, with every amenity you can think of. The bathroom was immaculate, large, and stocked. Even my morning coffee tasted better than usual. We spent 3 night at Antlers Motel during our visit in Lassen Volcanic NP. Place was very affordable ( half the price of Best Western next door) very clean and had everything you needed. We went to Chester for the 4th of July and had a great time as always. Then we cam to the Antler Inn. Fist off, they have a TINY tv. Smaller than your standard computer monitor.- about a 17". It would be ok if you were 2 feet away, not 10 feet. Then we took a shower. The lighting was so dim as it has only 1 small recessed light for a huge bathroom. The floors above were so thin that you would hear every move of the person above. The walls were so thin that we could actually hear the conversation of the neighbors normal conversation. The artwork was so small that our son had to stand on the bed to actually see them. They were 8" x 10" pictures for a room that is rather large. The rooms are VERY CLEAN but sleeping and showering are a challenge doe to lighting and noise. One more thing, the mattresses have a plastic cover on them like a bed wetter uses......CRAZY! You can hear every toss and turn. Our next stay will be at the Rose Quartz Inn. There is nothing wrong with cutting corners but plastic covers on the mattresses, a tv so small that you cant even see the menu from across the room, lighting so dim in the bathroom that you can't tell if you are clean, and artwork that would be proportioned to an out house. All in all, a real upsetting experience. read more

My wife and I were up at Lake Almanor in June for a friend's wedding. We had never stayed at the Antlers before, but were grateful they had a vacancy. We were there for 2 nights, and all I can say is everything about our experience was positive! The rates were very fair, the rooms big and clean, the beds comfortable. Dan was very welcoming, and the staff attended to our room very promptly and left it spic and span! I would highly recommend Dan and the Antlers to anyone looking for lodging at Lake Almanor. Great motel, very clean, wonderful staff! We stayed at this motel during our multi state marathon vacation, From Washington to Oregon, Idaho, Utah, Arizona, Nevada, California and back to Washington. We stayed at hotels along the way, and were pleasantly surprised by the Antlers Motel. The room was spotless, and there was a nature trail with a printed guide next door that lead to the Feather river and highlighted the various features. Grocery store and great cafe across the street, Very quiet with comfortable beds. The owner was glad to give information on the area. This place was nicer than our "suite" in Reno for sure! The outside of this place is unassuming. But the rooms (we got two) were perfect. As soon as we walked in, the smell of clean - but not chemical- was apparent. The decor is just right. They don't chintz on cheap tissue and plastic cups. Rooms are spacious. Plus the front desk is friendly and happy to see you. Couldn't ask for more. PLUS, the rate was almost $20 a night cheaper than the Best Western nearby, which I bet has nothing on this place. Made me wish I was staying another night. read more

This is as well-managed a small motel as I think I have ever seen. The room was spatious and clean. The a/c worked perfectly and quietly. The bedding was good (including the pillows). It was quiet. The shower was plenty hot. The wireless service was unexpectedly fast. The owner did a great job directing us to a wonderful dinner. In this case the only things I can suggest are limited to the location of the bath towels (and by no means is that a criticism of the management as it is of the architect). There should be more outlets near the "desk" for running both a computer and charging more than one phones (perhaps a power strip would be in order). The coffee maker could easily be replaced by microground packets and a hot water tap, but these are niggling details. All in all, this was an outstanding value. read more

Very reasonably priced for a decent bed and hot shower. It is also a plus that there is a mini fridge and WiFi at no extra cost. The large hotel chains always charge for those "extras". It is also conveniently located in the center of town near the supermarket and restaurants. This is the type of room to stay in overnight not a vacation resort. I would think most people who stay here are enjoying the outdoors of this beautiful area. Maybe that is why the TV is so small. read more

This motel is located right on Main street, but the rooms face away from the street, so they are quiet. The owner is extremely helpful. He gave us accurate and useful information about local restaurants. The room with two double beds, was large, and sparkling clean. Somewhat dated decor, no place to hang towels, no towel racks and only one hook. Nice mattresses on beds, however a MISERABLE nights sleep because they entirely covered the mattresses with plastic covers and used polyester sheets. Yuck. read more
