My neighborhood tailor went out of business recently, so I decided to try out Kevin's. I went in…read morefor alterations on a Friday to get one dress and two linen shirts taken in. The price was way more than I was expecting. $35 per shirt and $55 for the dress for a total of $115, which was lowered to $104 since I took advantage of the 10% discount with Zelle. This price was really high and almost twice as much what I usually pay for similar work. As for the work itself. The tailoring on one of the shirts was fine, the other shirt didn't seem to be tailored at all, and the dress was taken in at the wrong places - so much so that it's now tight in places that it shouldn't be. I also didn't feel welcomed or appreciated as a customer both during the alteration process and during pick up. My interactions varied between being wholly ignored (standing in the middle of the show room in my dress to be altered for a while before being acknowledged) to being stared at by a worker while the tailor retrieved my items. Overall, the search for a quality tailor with reasonable pricing in Los Angeles continues.

I started seeing him back in 2003 & every single piece of clothing I've brought to him has been done to perfection. I'm not tall, so I often need to hem my pants, or shorten my sleeves on blazers or jackets. Something I never had done before was taking the hem of designer jeans & reattaching them after shortening the legs so they would look unaltered. I've always had to lose out on keeping that cool look of the bottom of a pant leg because I'm not tall & need them shortened, so I was thrilled at the prospect of being able to keep that cool worn original look I paid so much for. Art is so talented, you really couldn't tell that my jeans were hemmed at all, they looked the same as when I purchased them. He's very reasonable in cost & his work is worth every penny. I drove past the old Charleville Blvd. location where I started coming in & was scared for a moment thinking he was no longer open, but I was SOOOO happy to see he only moved locations & is now on Camden Drive- still in my first LA hometown of Beverly Hills yay! He's the loveliest person & really cares about his work, if you need a tailor, he's the best! The…read moreritual is the same every time: you try the piece, the master kneels down and pins where he knows the work must be done, and the master lady (his wife) takes notes to calculate the cost. He barely speaks English, but he is kind and sweet and wise. Not even once he missed a spot, suggested a wrong idea, showed off or felt pretentious. For me, he is a master of the craft. I've been around, I have known many tailors, and this man is one of my very favorites. He finishes pinning, and he leaves gracefully, leaving the wonder woman to finish the accounting. There is always a SRP. She always asks for when do you need the work. They have A LOT of work, and they have a back room where many people work. If you are in a hurry, they deliver, at an added percentage. If you pay cash, "Cash is King" (her own poetic words), you get a better price. Every time they delivered the work in time. You can try the fixed pieces, and he makes sure you feel great and happy. Every time, I felt cared for and respected, almost pampered. There is the son, too. Maybe more than one working at the back. The son I know is fun, respectful and kind. Every other team member who I knew were always efficient and nice to deal with. I'm almost hoping to have another clothing item to bring to them to work their magic. I highly recommend this experience. It's, hands down, one of my favorites in LA.

Please save yourself the headache and trouble and do not go to Century City Tailor by Bello. My grandpa recently passed and we came here to alter his forever suit that he can wear. The suit required a lot of alterations and we needed it quickly so we chose this store because it was one of the few that had a quick turnaround time. The prices here are very very high, however, we were open to paying it considering the situation, but the lady helping us told us that she would talk to her manager about a discount because of the amount of work being done and that it was pretty much guaranteed but they didn't know how much it would be. We asked that they give us a call in the evening to confirm all measurements and to confirm pricing and they agreed and also said they would not start any of the work until that call. We never received a call, so we called the next day to confirm pricing and measurements. We had an update to measurements at this point so we wanted to make sure that they used the new ones. When we called, we spoke to who we believe is the owner, who told us no updates can be made because he already cut the jacket, which was upsetting on its own because we verbally agreed that no work would be started until they called us (which they never did). We then asked him to not touch anything else because we also gave him a shirt and pants and asked for a discount because he would no longer be working on that, which he then changed the story and said that he cut everything and no discount would be given. We got the vibe that he changed the story because he wanted to charge us full price still and we went back and forth on this, but instead of any attempts of compromising or making things right, he said multiple times "I don't have time to talk to you, I have other customers. Just pick up your suit as is tomorrow and I'm not giving a discount, I can't do anything to help you." We were shocked by the lack of professionalism, customer service, and sympathy given the situation because we said what this suit is for. Alongside the poor service on the phone, when my sister and cousin did pick up the suit, they were extremely disappointed by the quality of work done and we actually had to get a completely new suit because the one they worked on became unusable with extreme fraying everywhere. They brought this up, however, the owner did not take accountability for this and said the suit was already like that (which is untrue because it was a new suit with tags intact that we brought to him). When asked to speak to the manager, he continued to make excuses and say he was just a worker there and that they were going to get him fired and said that he didn't have the owners number and that he did not know when the owner would come in--he later shared his name is Javier, who is in fact the owner. Whenever asked for contact information for anyone, he continuously lied and made different excuses. At points, I was told he refused to give the suit that we already paid for and that he had security called on my sister and cousin because they were causing "trouble" for demanding the product that they rightfully paid for and belongs to us and threatened to sue with zero legal basis. Overall, I would not return here and I would not recommend this business at all. This may have been the worst customer experience I've experienced in my life. Javier is extremely unprofessional and does not run his business with integrity. I checked out his reviews for his second location in Santa Monica and noticed that he responds to all negative reviews claiming that they are "discrediting his business" and "misleading" instead of being accountable and trying to make things right and improve his business, which I'm assuming he will try to do again with this review which continues to highlight his character.
