I was very nervous to get my wedding dress tailored. I was doing it only about a month and a half out from the wedding and so if it was ruined, I really wouldn't have time replace it. Plus to took so long to find, was so expensive, yadda yadda yadda. But based off the yelp reviews, and the proximity to me, I made an appointment with Linda to give me a quote on downsizing the bodice a bit, thinning out the VERY floofy sleeves a bit, shortening the length of the dress, and then coming up with a solution for the sleeves actually being relatively uncomfortable, giving me a big red splotch on my shoulders a few minutes into wearing it. Tulle..... it's scratchy as hell on your skin! Not only was her dressing area really nice, pretty good size, and clean and much fancier than I thought it would be, Linda herself seemed genuinely excited to work on my dress. She pinned it up, said she could figure out something to make the shoulders of the sleeves more comfortable, plus disconnect them so I could take them off if it got to hot later. Two more fittings later, she had made it fit perfectly, taken in the sleeves just enough, and come up with a solution to make the shoulder part of the sleeves comfortable using fabric she went out to find to match it perfectly. PLUS she went above and beyond to add a little teeny stretchy loop of fabric hidden in the sleeves so I could hang them on the hanger. My experience here was honestly exactly what I hoped for. Someone who was caring, precise, creative, understood the importance of the task, very sweet, took her time with me and didn't rush me out, and did an excellent job. Highly recommend! read more

Linda singlehandedly saved my wedding! I was at my wit's end. Turned out that I didn't have a dress two weeks before my wedding. Long story short, I got a dress a year in advance and took it to another alterations spot that got rave reviews. Linda was very kind, the service was affordable and the turnaround was quick given it was wedding season; however, the bra cups she sowed into my wedding dress were not sown in all the way, just a few stitches here and there. This seemed fine at the shop during try-on and at home during my final try-on; but once I got my wedding photos back, I saw that the bra cups slid up out of my dress (at the top of the dress) in several (not all, thankfully) of the photos. Fortunately for me, my wedding was a "small deal" kind of wedding, the dress was cheap and the ceremony was very small - so it was more of a thing that my husband and I had a good laugh about. I cannot rave enough about Linda and her team at R&L Tailoring!! I did my due diligence (called/visited 10 bridal alteration shops around L.A. and O.C.) and nobody else compared in terms of ratings, capability, and pricing. Not to mention kindness! Linda was exceptional. I called around in January 2022 before my wedding in May. Some places were too busy to take me, others weren't open on weekends, and a couple didn't do customizations (which was needed for my gown). Linda took me in February without hesitation and had such a warm, calm presence which was exactly what I needed to entrust someone with my wedding dress! I had a high maintenance ask, but Linda was patient and wonderful the whole way. She worked little by little over 2 months (since I lived close by) and could come in to try on my dress each time to ensure it was tracking correctly and to any weight changes right before my wedding. Altogether, I had the following work done: 1. Took in corset from 4 to 2 2. Hem the bottom 3. Added detachable sleeves w/ extra hemmed fabric (Linda used the extra 3D floral appliqué from my dress and sewed them into custom sleeves for my ceremony)! 4. Added Galia Lahav galaxy tulle (an additional layer of shimmer from a completely different designer) 5. Sewed 2 bustle holes (higher/lower since I had a Cathedral train) As some others mentioned, Linda is truly a special woman who pours her whole heart into each and every detail to ensure her clients are happy 100% of the way. While I was in for my wedding dress fittings, multiple long time clients would walk in to drop off something simple and she would tell me they had visited her for 10+ years - everyone knows her so well and is loyal because she's that good. She has a warmth to her that makes her feel like family. Linda is a literal angel! She saved my wedding dress. I had taken it to another tailor and it was somehow made smaller yet more ill-fitting, almost droopy - a total mess. This other tailor was adamant that nothing could be done and kept saying it was a "matter of the design." I knew it was bad work but didn't know what to do. I never thought I would be someone to cry over a wedding dress, but I definitely did. Then I found Linda! I'm not joking, Linda is an angel. She said, "Don't worry, everything can be fixed." She showed me where the first tailor went wrong (adding darts at the top of the bodice?!) and fixed it entirely, step by step. It took a lot of work to undo all the mistakes from the first tailor, and I almost thought it wasn't going to be possible - but Linda and Cesar did it! Like magic! Linda is a kind, caring, and generous person, and when it comes to alterations, she really knows her stuff. Considering all the work that was required (for example, remaking two panels of the bodice from extra lining fabric, because the first tailor had cut into them and destroyed them), the price was very fair. I recently lost a lot of weight and needed some outfits tailored and taken within 24 hours. I was able to get one pair of khakis and four shirts adjusted in time. One of the shirts wasn't completely finished when I came to pick it up, but I didn't need it for my vacation. The shop itself is intimate, with only one changing room, so when I came to pick up my outfits, I had to change in one of their closets, which wasn't a big deal to me. Parking is also a little tight with some meters and 1-hour parking available on the side street until 6P. I will definitely come back next time I need some alterations done. read more

Because I live just a few steps away from this place and the Yelp reviews are generally great, trying them out was a no-brainer. I have used their services on two occasions. The first time the threading on one of my slacks was coming apart at the bottom of the pant leg, so I just needed a simple fix. The pants were completed on time and were back to normal - great! No complaints. Fast forward this week, I needed one of my other slacks to be taken in at the waist. I went in on a Monday and she said she'd have them ready by Friday. Sounded good to me, until I went back that Friday and they didn't even start on it. "Come back on Monday, we'll definitely have it ready then." Went back on Monday and...yeah, you guessed it, it wasn't ready. Turns out it was buried under 4 other pairs of slacks, and she goes, "oh, that's why I didn't start on it, because it was buried under here! Come back anytime tomorrow, I'll have it ready." I hesitated, smiled, and then asked, "okay, but will it actually be ready? Because I came back on Friday and-" which she then cut me off to say, "I just didn't see it because it was under all these clothes." I should have just taken my pants then and left. To my surprise, she actually did finish it by Tuesday (this is my THIRD trip to the place in order to get a simple alteration completed). She never apologized at any point in this process. Despite her friendly demeanor (in general) and generally satisfactory work, it's not dependable, it's not timely, and they don't hold themselves accountable. So, even though they are literally a few steps away from where I live, I will be taking my business elsewhere from now on. :( read more

I purchased my Watters dress from BHLDN and it came in the mail Monday afternoon. (R & L is a highly recommended tailor by BHLDN) Our flight for our last minute elopement in Hawaii was Thursday morning. I made the original mistake by going to another vendor first and when they laughed at my quick turn around request -- I was feeling pretty down. I knew I had to rush over to Linda! When I got to Linda, she assured me that everything will be ok and she will have it done for me by Wednesday. When I showed her my dress, she didn't seem stressed at all. I'll admit, when I first tried on my dress at the store, I didn't realize how complicated it was. I thought there was only two layers, but there was 5! And the top didn't fit as well. When she quoted me how much it will cost, it did SEEM high but then my gf and I (we are both children of seamstresses) realized that she was doing a lot of fixing for such a short time period. I literally gave her staff 16 hours to work on it. I went in on Tuesday to try it on and make last minute adjustments. Jorge was the one working on it all night and day, and it looked great! Just minor fixing that needed to be done. Come Wednesday afternoon, we realized that it was a little off on the length underneath. I didn't care as much but Linda refused to let me leave with a dress unfinished. She wanted every little thing fixed to perfection! When I received my dress Wednesday early evening, it fit like a glove! I was happy with her work and I highly recommend her. I really can't say enough about Linda. I had my own wedding + was in a friend's wedding 6 weeks apart and Linda turned both dresses from "good" to amazing! Halfway through wedding planning, I started having second thoughts about my simple wedding dress, but Linda calmed those fears by tailoring the fit so perfectly that in the end, it felt completely new and custom. She noticed little nuances like extra fabric or needed nips and tucks, and with a few additional touches like a belt, bustle, and button down back, I walked out of her shop feeling completely confident that I had made the right choice in the end. While her hours might be a bit difficult for the typical 9-5'er, she always made time to fit me in and worked quickly and efficiently, so I was never there for more than a half hour altogether (mind you, she was working on 2 dresses at once!). Awesome!!! So, my wedding dresses (yes, plural), were stranded in China and didn't arrive until Friday and I was leaving for my destination wedding on Wednesday morning - and they both needed massive alterations. So, it is bridal season, the weekend and I needed alterations on not one, but two wedding gowns. I was referred to Linda from another bridal alternations person on Saturday afternoon. I called, she said come right away and I did. The shop is compact and they are really busy, but Linda got me in and calmly pinned my dresses. She said to come back Tuesday night. I took a big sigh of relief and went on to panic about the next wedding item on the list. When I came in on Tuesday night, the dresses were ready. I tried on the first dress. It was covered in beading and lace and needed to be taking in all the way from the bust through the hips; no small job. Well, it was super spectacular. The alterations took the dress from great to amazing. The second dress had the most changes as we took off the sleeves and changed the entire front neckline. It looked great, too, but I knew when I put on the first that was the one I was going to wear. I am going to use the second dress for some black and white wedding photos later. Though I ordered my wedding dress in my size, it arrived about 8 sizes too big. Seriously, you could have put two of me in the dress. I didn't have time to ship it back to the designer. And so Linda worked a total miracle on it - she completely remade the dress over the course of about 5 weeks, and it fit like a dream on my wedding day. Linda is patient, fun, and very good at what she does. She really talked through each change - if we do this, it will effect that - and involved me in the process to make sure I understood the process. And she really goes the extra mile. For example, she went to the fashion district herself to find the right bra solution for my backless dress. And she arranged to have her dry cleaner clean my dress and my husband's suit after our wedding. In the process of working with Linda on my wedding dress, I ended up taking other clothes to her for alterations. Again, wonderful work. I will note that the system for organizing clothes (not wedding dresses, but other items) seems haphazard and a few times it took a while for her to find what I was picking up. She never lost anything, though, so there must be order in the system that I can't see! My experience with Linda at R&L was just so-so: I was planning my wedding from the East Coast, for May. I was only in town for a week, in March, and pretty much needed to get my wedding dress done THEN, since then next time I was going to be in town, was the week of my wedding. I had gotten a Sarah Seven "Practically Perfect" dress, just needed to get the skirt part shortened. I was debating between getting my dress altered in New York vs. LA, but settled on LA at R&L because I thought from the reviews on Yelp that R&L would be a much cheaper, but still well-trusted establishment to go to. Anyways, Linda was very nice on the phone, and agreed to an appointment on a Monday morning (I made it the week before). Firstly, I arrived at R&L (and was surprised by how small it was! haha~! Not that it matters, it was just a little unexpected and funny!) at my scheduled time, but... was told that Linda wasn't there... she finally turned up 45 minutes after our scheduled appointment. Anyways, long story short, Linda was very sweet, caring, and I trusted her. My skirt was three layers of thin fabric, and she explained that the stitching needed to be special, to handle the nice fabric. Which was fine. She then told me it'd be done on Saturday, but I told her I needed it by Friday morning (my flight out of town was on Saturday)- to which she agreed. So, Friday rolls around, I get a call on Friday morning saying she was late, getting my dress just then to the cleaner (because apparently she didn't end up having the right steamer for the dress!?). Anyways, that was fine because I wasn't in too much of a rush. So I start driving over to the shop on Friday afternoon, but surprise surprise, I get another call saying that it's been delayed an hour, she's only just picked up the dress and is driving back with it. In the end, it worked out, since I had traffic to deal with, too, but I can't imagine what my state of mind would have been in, had I been on a tighter schedule. So, what did it all cost in the end for me? I was quite surprised - perhaps because I'm the type of person who doesn't haggle or anything, but for altering the three layers of fabric on just the skirt portion of my dress, it was $250. Oh, and slip in the cost of the laundry/pressing service (which I wasn't warned about at all, before I gave her my dress), was an extra $25. In the end, I'm glad I came here - since I think Linda did a GREAT job on my dress. It was just a little more money and a little stress than I had hoped for. But, I'd recommend any other bride to come here - just as long as you leave plenty of time for yourself! Also - cash/check only. read more
