As a New Yorker now living in Houston -- and a Colombian who loves Dominican food -- I have been searching everywhere for authentic Dominican flavors. I have especially been craving Bizcocho Dominicano, and since my fiancé and I got engaged on February 1, I had only ONE non‑negotiable for our wedding: it had to be a Dominican cake. Honestly, I searched online with very low expectations, thinking there was no way I would find a true Dominican restaurant in Houston... and then I discovered Antojitos Dominicano. We visited on Saturday around three o'clock in the afternoon. We arrived late, so some of the daily specials had already sold out (which we regret!), but everything we did try was absolutely delicious -- comforting, flavorful, and authentically Dominican. Then came the moment of truth... the cake tasting. And let me tell you -- the first bite lifted a huge weight off my shoulders. I turned to my fiancé and said: "We found our wedding cake!" The flavor, the texture, the nostalgia -- it was everything I had been missing and hoping for. Pure perfection. I am beyond grateful to this New York family for bringing true Dominican cuisine to Houston. Their food, their cake, and their warmth make the restaurant feel like home. The pineapple bizcocho is sooooo good, the cake is so moist, will definitely come back again. Hopefully they add bring back the passionfruit cheesecake so I can try it since they didn't make it when we went. They also have food items and some meals as well including costilla de res, pollo guisado, pernil, moro, etc. We ordered the costilla with more, and the costilla de res (beef) was fall of the bone and the moro was yummy, for $16 we have at least 2 meals. They also have pastelitos, but by the time we got there (2pm weekend), they only had cheese (will try the beef pastelito next time.) There are tables in case you want to eat indoors and plenty of parking since this is in a shopping center. read more

I ordered this on the Too Good To Go App. They gave me rice, Dominican fried chicken and a serving of tres leches. Everything was really good and flavorful, especially the tres leches. My husband was a fan of the fried chicken. If you like Pappasito's tres leches cake I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by this one. It almost taste like they added horchata in it. I don't know but I'll be back for more. The only thing I'm a little confused about is their business model. When I tried to go back to order more, they didn't have anything. My guess is they are caterers first. I think they are still figuring it out so it's best to call in first. read more

Came here after dinner at the noodle place, I was so blown away by the Dominican cake! I've never had it before and I got it with the coconut cream inside. It was really yummy and I never step outside my usual bakery to get sweets, but I'm glad I did. The icing on top was a bit sweet for me but had great flavor. This place is truly a gem and a staple for our Dominican food needs! My partner and I are originally from NY and he is Dominican; this place makes us feel like we are home in his family's kitchen. Their cake is my strongest recommendation; the bizcocho with guayaba is TO DIE FOR. As for their food, you can tell they make their food with absolute love and pure sazón for their customers daily. I found about this place through an app, I was open to try a new place, I wasn't on a mission for anything in particular but taking a walk down the "wild side" and well I was not disappointed at all. I walked in and couldn't help to notice the beautiful esthetics of the shop. It was so colorful, very picturesque with a greenery and floral wall that had their neon business name and the exquisite shabby chic furniture that gave it that European small tea shop vibe that added the cherry on top. Walking into the bakery made it even more pleasant as I was greeted by the sweetest (no pun intended) employee which I am guessing is the owner. She was so kind to me and all her other guests, her personality truly matches her business model even after closing time was fast approaching. Before I move onto the food items, I used a 3rd party that gives the business control of what to try and what came in my "surprise bag" the following items were in my bag: Ropa vieja with rice and beans, beef and cheese empanada, and a pink frosted, pineapple filled, yellow cake pastelito. Which to be fair, EVERYTHING WAS AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS!! The ropa vieja was made of either beef or pork with rice, why am I unsure about the protein? Because my daughter devouered it leaving me the scraps, but even the scraps were enough to leave me wanting some more. The meat was nice and tender, the rice cooked to perfection, and the beans added the perfect touch. The empanada is what I was mostly left thanks to my daughter, it was filled with a generous amount of cheese and beef, enough to get me almost full. The empanada was quite large and plump so there was plenty to enjoy in my opinion, regardless I was VERY satisfied. Lastly, the pastelito was perfect to end our small pre-dinner snack! The frosting was very light and fluffy, the bread was perfectly moist but that pineapple filling...O-M-G It was so tasty! The filling was not too runny and not too sticky, not too overly sweet but made to where all the layers added a perfect balance in every bite. Antojitos Dominicanos is a solid "W" in the area! I am very happy to know that there is another local bakery that breaks me out of my usual places that is able to satisfy every sense. I may not be Dominican but I know what good food is. This place is truly a masterpiece, stop by and enjoy it! read more

Ok what is there not to say!!! Hands down I am in food heaven. This cute little place is a Dominican food lovers dream! The music, ambiance, and service are top notch... the young workers who are the face of this place know customers by name and make you feel like you are part of the family! Let's just talk about the food... I am only going to show pictures of everything I got (which is a huge portion size) , just know the flavor, texture, etc is AUTHENTIC... fresh, made on the spot... the juices are to die for. The passion fruit juice has seeds and all! There was not one thing I tried that didn't taste good! Please drive near and far to come support this family owned and operated business. I've been here a few times and I always love the experience. Their menu changes daily but some notable items to me are their res guisada and the fried chicken.
