    Quesadilla with carne asada
    Val E.

Okay, this might have been the best quesadilla ive ever had in my life. I ordered the carne asada one and the esquites (street corn). I would skip the street corn, it was super salty and didn't have many spices or flavor. The quesadilla on the other hand, was ginormous and loaded with steak, perfectly seasoned and piping hot. I will be coming back solely for this. The prices are a little high, but the portions make up for it. They're also the latest food spot open in Capitol Hill, I think until 3am! Also, there is always a line, so order ahead if you can.

The food was great. I personally got the Carne Asada fries and the 4 Tacos with carnitas as the protein. Compared to other places that I have gone to, this place is on par with the others. And that is coming from someone that got used to Cali-Mex food. The portions of the food was loaded for me. But that is my personal opinion. Would definitely get this again and recommended to others.

Some of my favorite Mexican food in Seattle. One of the only places to regularly get authentic Mexican snacks and street food. Plus their machaca tastes like home. Good stuff.

Can't wait to come back here! My chorizo tacos were delicious, my partner is raving about the rice and beans. I need to try their mangonada next. I will say, I'll pass on the esquite next time, it wasn't my favorite, but that's my only complaint. Quick service, reasonable prices, good portions!

For reference: I am not a Mexican food snob and don't know the difference between Tex mex and cali mex of any other varieties. I know what my friends families make as far as homemade and I know what my Puerto Rican peeps make as a mash up between Mexican American Puerto Rican -esque. Take my review knowing this bit, and that I am a foodie so I do like a lot of variety and am not too picky. --------- I saw this truck on the freeway a few months ago and thought it had a nice design and name. Then today I ran across them in a parking lot of a teriyaki store on north cap hill. I don't normally go for food in a truck, especially Mexican food because of all the grease. The food here did have a bit because they cook on a flat top. It can't be helped and it sounded better than the restaurant meal. I enjoyed the food here - got a kids quesadilla and a kids burrito. They both came with rice and beans. The rice was moist and had flavor. The beans were good and not salty but also not super flavorful but I would grub them down again without a thought. The sizes were perfect for me and my mom to just eat something quick and continue onto doctor appointments. They came with one red (spicy level 3-4) and a green (spicy level 1-2). They were so tasty and delicious! I'm not the biggest spicy person but was in the mood for some good hot sauce and these hit. My mom said the green was spot on perfect and nothing was overpowering. The tortilla was thick and was very good. The service was great, I walked up to a guy singing to himself (no loud music) and the two guys were quick and friendly. Done in 7 minutes just like they said. Can't wait to return for a quick nosh again now that I know their location.

As a native Texan, my expectations for good Mexican food in Seattle were not that high. That said, this place was absolutely remarkable! We ordered 2 taco combos with asado and pescado respectively. Tacos we're delicious, along with the rice and beans. Chips were great as well. Def a great experience!

Lupe's, imo, makes the best food in Ballard, and some of the best in the city. Its fresh, its…read moreflavorful, and you can taste the care that was put into it. We have eaten there a few dozen times, bringing pals visiting the city, going literally every time we play a show on the strip-- everyone loves them. The tacos are my favorite, but the queso is dank as helllll making the nachos another fab dish. My partner loves the burritos and quesadillas, though I-- a lover of the crunch --cannot speak for them myself. Are there toothpicks in the tacos? Yes! Not only are these two, structural-support toothpicks clearly visible, there are signs all over the shop about not eating them, and whoever runs your food out mentions them to the table every time. Even the merch / tee shirts tell you to watch out for the toothpicks. Its like the toothpick in a club sandwich, or the stick in a corn dog: you kinda have to want to eat it to end up with it in your mouth, ya know? Are the tacos greasy? Also yes! They're deep fried! That is what happens when you put any pouch-style food in a deep fryer: if it is not perfectly sealed, as it will not be with a toothpick, it'll get some oil inside. If you're not into oily food, maybe deep-fried tacos just aren't for you? As for the folks bashing the service: its standard counter service. If you want table service-- someone to wait on you, come to your table for more than just a drop off, etc --this place isn't for you. I worked in kitchens for two decades. Nothing about Lupe's Situ Tacos is poorly made or lacking flavor-- all three options are unique and flavorful in their own right, but the hushwe is an aaaabsolute dream, and the cauliflower is such a fantastic meat-free choice. Prices are on par with a lot of taco-selling restaurants, so idk what folks are talking about on that front. Mayhaps worth remembering who usually writes reviews on these sites (people who go once and like to bitch vs those of us who actually eat here and don't like yelp conceptually)~

You order at the counter, they give you a number, go find a table, they bring the food to you. Pretty straightforward menu to choose from. We got the nachos w/added meat(hushwe) and 2 Pappas tacos. Didn't take too long to get our food, maybe like 10 mins or so. We got lucky finding a table, a couple was nice enough to finish up quickly so we can take their table outside. -Nachos were pretty loaded, chips were crisp, 2 types of cheese(queso and melted cheese), tasty jalapenos, guac, sour cream and pico. Meat (hushwe) was fine, it's pretty minced up into small bits. -Pappas Tacos were good too, kinda like eating mashed potatoes in a taco shell. Also reminded me of a thin shelled empanada. Shell was thin & crisp. Maybe should've just gotten the meat (hushwe) taco. Staff was friendly, prices were what we thought it would be, glad to have come by to check this place out. Don't forget to bus your own table!
