During the entire first half of the dining experience, the waitress was brusk or even sullen. Little to no attempts to interact with us until it was time to pay the bill. I would give the overall service of the place a 1-star. I ordered the combination burrito. It had basically everything on it. It filled me up and why not exactly tasty, it was as standard a fare as I could hope for in this remote spot. Standard Tex-Mex and warm. Rates right in the middle if all you aspire to is "sustenance." There's not a lot of options in Ft. Davis but I think I'll explore a lot of others around before I reattempt this. It's worth spinning the wheel of chance rather than return to a very sub-par service experience.

The food truck is conveniently located by the patio where you enjoy your wine. I've visited the winery twice now and both it and the Too Hot for TABC food truck are a permanent stop on the itinerary I plan to Marfa. The food they're serving up over there is legit some of the best I've ever had from a food truck and I'm still thinking about the amazing sandwich I had the last time I was there. It was a daily special but it needs to be a full time item. Hopefully if you're lucky they'll have it for you - prosciutto, brie, and some amazing jams. If you're not lucky, however, the award winning burger is always a delicious choice and the charcuterie board perfectly compliments an afternoon of drinking wine. Don't visit the winery without sampling some of the yummy dishes being served up at Too Hot for TABC!

I'm used to dry Mexican rice. (And I was taught by a Mexican abuela how to make proper Mexican rice.) But I digress. Chips here are marginal. Hopefully, they come in on a truck, because they hardly taste like they are fried in the kitchen. The salsa, while served cold (which is proper) is a little too chunky for my taste, although it has a nice bite to it. The locals eat here. Good for them, because this place is decent. The chicken had no flavor at all and the dish was very soupy. The server said "that's the way they serve it". That's fine, but wife couldnt eat it. The plate was barely eaten and the server offered no recourse. It was wasted. Then the cashier came over, whom I believe to be ownership, and told us we could come to the counter to check out. We showed her the uneaten plate and she just looked at us and said she would charge only 50%. Since it was barely touched, I feel it should have been totally removed from the bill, but what is $7.00 among friends. She really acted as she didnt care. Chips were store bought and cold. Salsa was very good, but was cold as if it had come straight from the refrigerator. I had a bowl of beans and they were "weird". We paid and left. Needless to say, we will not be back. I suppose it's the manner in which the whole situation was handled and the demeanor of the staff.
