We go to Alicia's every time we are in Alpine. We were worried we would miss out this trip because she was closed from the day we got there but they opened the morning we were leaving so we had to go by and get some of her fabulous breakfast burritos lots of good fresh stuff it takes a little time, but it's so worth the wait! My husband says their burgers are really good too. I would've tried one, but we had to leave that morning. Food is good, service is good, prices are extremely ridiculous. Mexican food products are not expensive to prepare. I have family that runs a restaurant that serves this food, their costs have increased recently, not to this extreme. This restaurant as well as the other Mexican restaurants in this town are charging prices for this food that are out of line, exorbitant to say the least. Came here on the way home from Big Bend after striking out at Cow Dog. Now a must-stop when heading through Alpine! They thought it a bit odd that we wanted a breakfast burrito without meat but the tortilla was incredible and the flavor of the beans and salsa were amazing. Passing through and wanted breakfast. Found this place through Yelp reviews. Did not disappoint. I read all the reviews and wasn't sure about what to expect regarding the service and time to get our food. We got there just after they opened at 8. (I had tried calling to order but got either a fast busy or no answer.) Ordered two burritos from the drive through. The guy was friendly and helpful, asking us to wait at the spaces in front and he would bring our food to us. Took about 10 minutes. We had a chorizo and egg burrito and a bacon/egg/cheese burrito. Both were excellent. I should have asked for salsa but assumed it would be included. We'll be back when we pass through again. read more

Horrible service. We sat down and already felt unwanted. The waitress had a horrible attitude, so we just left. Not even 5 minutes into the restaurant. Delicious little hidden gem off the beaten path in Alpine. I had my heart set on a burrito, found this place via reviews, and boy! It definitely didn't disappoint!! The drive-thru is still open during COVID (no dine-in). Be ready to wait about 20min+ for your burritos, but totally worth it. My suggestion is to call ahead and place your order so you don't have to wait long. The burritos are pretty good sized, so if you're decently hungry, I think 2 is perfect. The reviews stating that there's a wait for your food are absolutely correct. But, the food is most definitely worth however long you end up waiting. I ordered the Chili Cheeseburger Basket (adding bacon) and my dad ordered Big Al's Hamburger basket (regular hamburger). The chili burger was amazing, you could taste all of the components - the chili, the patty, the bacon, onions/condiments, and the grilled bun. The fries were equally as delicious! The regular hamburger basket was just as good, with the regular burger being packed with flavor. Alicia's is definitely worth visiting if you find yourself in the area (we found them via Yelp on a trip to Big Bend); do know that it is cash or local check only. read more

A SAFE PLACE to eat! I appreciate the window only service and workers wearing masks for safety of the customers. The breakfast burritos are giant! The refried beans and melted cheese inside is the heart and soul of the burrito. I couldn't finish it in one sitting, so it became a perfect afternoon snack. Overpriced and horrible service. The people running this place have absolutely no customer service, argued with me over the cost of salsa and stated she asked if I wanted some when I placed my order, but she did no such thing. She was in a huge rush it seemed for absolutely no reason at all it wasn't busy. I paid 4.50 for a bean and cheese burrito and $2 for a canned soda (with no ice, that's an additional 50¢ a cup lmao). When I asked for salsa she proceeded to charge me 69¢ for hot sauce like my burrito wasn't $4.50??? I've lived in west Texas my entire life and have never been charged separately for salsa..... Just a block off Texas 118 on the south side of the tracks, this place fits into the modest neighborhood but stands out for the quality of the food. We were coming off a week camping in Big Bend, so I went for the double cheeseburger. Had it not been for the help of Sancho dog, I could not have finished it and the half-pound or so of real fries. My wife had the chili verde plate, which is served with tortillas AND fries (Love West Texas). I've been coming to Alicia's for 30 years, and it's still my go-to spot in Alpine. The dining room was still closed, so we ate at a picnic table in the gravel parking lot, where we were visited by a dust devil. Love West Texas! read more

SLOW, BLAND, AND WE WERE FORGOTTEN (Warning: young adults from Central Florida in for vacation) There's not many places in Alpine to fulfill a Mexican food craving. Unfortunately we got off to a bad foot as we were seated fairly quickly however it took about 10 minutes before someone approached us again. It was busy, however it also seemed they were dreadfully understaffed. DISHES WERE BLAND DESPITE ALL SEASONING The seasoning actually seemed to be covering dishes instead. Hubs's 'Zo Burrito' (similar to a Philly Steak inside a Burrito and with Chicken) was a gush of sauce and the meat was totally lost inside. My Carne Asada platter was decent and had a slight homemade feel to it- which is good. The Tortilla was very thick and somehow its neutral flavor still swallowed up anything put on it (I actually found the Fries tasted better with the Carna Asada) BUT IT'S A CASUAL, COMMUNITY-TYPE OF PLACE It was loud and bustling. Our table was crammed to one side which unfortunately meant that anyone paying at the counter also had their elbows in my ears. Servers were unsmiling and all business-like. The food was excellent, but the prices should be rated as three dollars, not one dollar. The restaurant is carry out only order through the outside window. This is a small restaurant serving outstanding, authentic Tex-Mex cuisine. They are drive-thru and take-out only at present (June 2021) and its located ona residential street. But, boy, is it worth finding! I ordered the adasado plate and was served enough food for two people. The adasado was just spicy enough and the chicken so tender.
