Visited Antojo Latino Colombian Restaurant while in Savannah and decided to give it a try based on reviews--and we're glad we did. At first glance, the location feels a bit hidden and slightly awkward. When we arrived around 5:30, there was only one other couple there. The space is small, and there was a slight musty smell, likely due to the building being older. The menu is extensive but not very descriptive--adding photos would definitely help first-time visitors. We started with the empanadas, and they were hands down the best we've had at any Colombian restaurant across the U.S.--fresh, perfectly filled with potato and meat, and paired with a flavorful green sauce that really stood out. For entrées, my husband ordered the bandeja paisa and I had the rolled chicken. Both dishes were absolutely delicious. The chimichurri sauce served with the chicken was especially good and added great flavor. Overall, despite the ambiance and menu limitations, the food truly shines. This is the kind of place that should probably get a 3 1/2. I can't say it was really good but it was certainly worth the price. The food was surprisingly under flavored. The most favorable thing on the plate were the beans and those were delicious. The bacon, the steak, and even the bread had little to no flavor with it. Perhaps I ordered the wrong thing but overall, it was a very average meal. The staff was excellent. My waitress was very nice and it seems a very very popular place. Colombian food done scrumptiously! They had no problem sitting our family of 20 at the last minute. Even when we overwhelmed them with our order, the food all came out quickly and hot! Very friendly staff! Not sure what to order, they can help, or you can do what we did and order the sampler platter and a bunch of other dishes. They even have Colombian beer here. Only downside is the limited parking, but there is plenty of unmarked street parking nearby. read more

Antojo is a true Colombian experience. My Spanish is terrible but Portunhol allowed me to converse/order and not have to divert to English. Be careful when you go to this place, the person who attended us Jen gave me a receipt with 2 mofongos and we only asked for one. We also ordered two soups. That she said that they were the specials of the day called ajiaco. She says that the soup of the day costs $25 and a few cents if you look at the menu, the soup is more expensive than a mofongo. I called to talk to the manager and Jen answered me and would not allow me to talk to the manager. Avoid going to this place if you can check your receipt and make sure it's all correct . It's the first bad experience in a Colombian restaurant. I don't recommend it and I won't ever go again. Honesty counts. read more

Delicious!!!!! I'm so full in an amazing way. We had empanadas and appetizer of the month fried plantains with mozzarella tomatoes onions and avocado. Yummy yummy!!!! I got the bandeja paisa and oh it was awesome!!! The steak was so tender. My hub got the antojo sirloin with fried plantains and fried yuca. He loved it all. My only sad part was they had no jugo de mora. They need to bring it please!! For dessert I got empanadas de dulce that's the only thing that was bad for me. Another Latin representation here in the form of Colombian food. This is where the original Rancho Aelgre was located on Posey between Abercorn and White Bluff. If you had the opportunity to visit it when it was the Cuban restaurant then you know this is in a old house that isnt very large but the space is very cozy and with the right lighting at night be very romantic. Never having had Colombian food before I took a good look at the menu before ordering and I saw some familiarity with both Puerto Rican and Cuban food but then a few things that I was not so familiar with. Being my first time I decided to go with what I considered a safe dish from the lunch menu and went with Masa de cerdo fritas (Fried Pork Chunks). My dish was $6.95 and, like all other lunch dishes, comes with white rice, a salad, and one additional side which my choice was the Mofongo Plain. My coworker ordered Ropa Vieja and his side was the Red Beans. I'm not sure if either of our dishes were necessarily Colombian being that Mofongo and fried pork are usually associated with Puerto Rican and Ropa Vieja normally associated with Cuban but there may be some crossover I am not aware of being I am not as familiar with Colombian cuisine. Regardless of what nationality are dishes originate from as soon as they hit they table I was pretty sure this place was going to be legit. First thing you notice is the portion sizes which are HUGE! (See Picture) The salad comes with a balsamic vinaigrette that was tasty and my dish came with three different sauces, a mojo sauce for the pork, a vinegar based sauce for the mofongo, and a pink sauce that the waitress explained was widely used in Colombia and usually put on nearly everything. As for the taste of everything it was absolutely amazing. Even the plain white rice was fantastic. My coworker said the same for his dish and after he nearly devoured everything he looked up in a daze and said "did you want to try any of this?". The only thing he had left was a small piece of the Ropa Vieja which was top notch as well. As I was leaving I ran into a friend of mine who is Latin and he was telling me this was his second visit and that this place is legit. He had the Antojo Arepa Con Todo with Chicharrons which is a stuffed corn cake type of sandwich (resembled a pita) stuffed with fried pork cracklings and his friend had the Bandeja paisa which is the typical Colombian platter with red bean, white rice, sausage, pork cracklings, ground beef, fried egg, plantain, corn cake, and avocado. Both dishes looked amazing and I will be trying the Colombian platter on my next visit. The service here was very attentive and helpful when it came to the menu. If you like Latin food this place is a must try. Its fairly new but its only a matter of time before word gets out about this place being they have such good food, at low cost and large quantities. read more

This place is the I would say the best there is to offer in the way of Spanish food here in Savannah!! I have been there quite a few times and I have never had a bad experience. The staff is pleasant and quick to take and get your order.. I have had the Tripleta Sandwich which includes fries, it's a combination of steak, perni,and ham.. omg delicious. . I have also had the Vaca Frita with Rice,Black beans, Maduros and of course a side of Avacado.. which they give you half an avacado... :) .. the Vaca Frita is seasoned perfectly with lime garlic sauce and onions.. The steak, beans, and avocado were good -- but the rest was very dry and bland. The gargantuan fried pork skin was dramatic but overcooked and hard to eat. It could very well be that the food is very authenticity prepared and I simply do not have the proper acquired taste to enjoy it. The menu is as huge as the portions. With sections from nearly every Latin country. On the front door it says must be 21 to enter after 11pm. My girl had doubts about going in. Never dined in and my boyfriend who is Colombian and from Miami has mentioned this place to me. So being newly into Colombian food, I thought it was really good. Until I went to Miami and had real authentic Colombian food. Don't get me wrong, Antojo is good, but nothing beats home cooked & authenticity. I've had a really good version of empanadas in Miami and Antojo's has theirs. So pretty much it's too Each's own. They could do a bit better with the chicharones though.
