I used the services of Mr. Antunez to replace an awning fabric. The original fabric was made of vinyl and had deteriorated due to being subjected to the elements. Mr. Antunez came to our house, we made measurements together, and discussed the option of replacing the fabric with a Sunbrella option that will hopefully last longer. I removed the old fabric and dropped it off at Antunez Upholstery later that day. Mr. Antunez made the replacement fabric the exact same shape and dimensions and had it ready for pick up within less than a week. I could install it with perfect fit. Lexus wanted a fortune, another upholsterer down the street in Pasadena quotes me an even higher number than Lexus and then I stopped by Antunez Upholstery. I guess three's the charm. After his very friendly dog welcomed me to his shop, Juan inspected the problem and quoted me a very fair price to assess and repair. A few weeks later I dropped the car off on a Saturday and a few hours later the issue was fixed. An honest man he is, charged me less than he quoted. This review has nothing to do with Juan Antunez's performance or work as it is clear to see he has mastered his craftsmanship very well. This review is about his morals as a man in business or lack thereof. Months back my daughter took in some cushions to be reupholstered. He was able to finish them by the following day. When it came time for my daughter to pay he refused and said he would only accept taking her to dinner. My daughter was a bit thrown off but agreed to said dinner as he seemed like a genuine older man who simply wanted some company for dinner. It was at this dinner that he attempted to coerce her in numerous ways including ordering drinks when she kindly declined. He began to express that he was "looking for a woman"which is entirely out of line given that this man is well into his fifties and my daughter is nearly half his age. He proceeded to ask her for help with his socials which I truly believe was only a way to attempt to coerce her. You can truly get a grasp at what kind of man he is by simply looking at his business's instagram following (@antunezupholsteryy). This man was extremely successful at making my daughter feel extremely uncomfortable and unsafe. This kind of behavior from a business owner is extremely unacceptable /unprofessional and is what makes women fearful and weary of men. Although my daughter wanted nothing to do with a review I am leaving this out of the fear that this is not the first time he has done this with a customer. I truly hope he learns that these types of actions will not be tolerated. read more

Nice variety of fabric samples in the shop (which I appreciated, as I'm not someone who will go search for fabric on my own.) I used someone else in the past to redo a mid-century sofa, and this experience was SO much better. No frills- his workshop is in the back of the Bubbles Plumbing storefront on Washington (who we also use and like) and everything is scribbled in a notebook. I took it in and he told me he'd stop what he was doing so he could work on the cushion and I could come back in an hour to pick it up.
