Hi! So we don't usually leave reviews, but we both agree this should be something people should be more aware of. Especially on Kauai when a lot of the household pets are usually apart of the family too! We can't explain enough how grateful we found out we had other options. This was actually recommended from a friend of mine that cremated her childhood pet!. My roommate and I love our animals like family, we didn't want to bury them knowing we were moving houses soon. The fact that we are able to keep them and later I turn some of the ashes into a keepsake heals the hurt alittle better. The process was smooth from the moment I contacted her in both cases. She handled the situation with professionalism but it definitely showed she cared and cares about what she does. We got them both back a lot faster than we thought we would and beautifully packed. I hope we won't need to come back for a very long time but if we ever have to it's more than likely we will be returning if something does happen!

Arms of Aloha - Mahalo nui loa Dr. Naun and team

    Arms of Aloha

No one ever wants to say goodbye to their beloved fur baby but unfortunately the time comes at some…read morepoint. I heard about Arms of Aloha in passing as others recommended them on various Facebook dog groups that I'm a part of. When my dog was diagnosed with cancer, one thing that popped into my mind was that, if possible, I'd like to let her cross over at home, where she was more comfortable. This thought was even stronger after having visited the vet so many times in the last weeks of her life. I had read up on the literature available on the Arm's of Aloha website (where you can also get an estimate) as well as preregistered. You can also look at their appointments available. They advise on making an appointment at least 1-2 days in advance, especially on the weekends. The hard part is knowing ahead what day that will be. My dog took a turn for the worst one day and I went back and forth on scheduling the only/last appointment available for the next day (appts can be seen/booked online). No one wants to make that call (decision), but it's also painful to watch your beloved friend suffer. They do have a thorough cancellation policy you can read online and I decided I'd book the last appointment to secure it and I could always cancel/reschedule more than 8 hours out. In the confirmation email, there is a link to a video to watch of the Doctor describing the process so you're familiar - I'd recommend this if it is your first time through this. I guess because it was already the next day, they called me shortly after to confirm my appointment. I could barely get the words out the confirm but I never felt judged by the person on the phone. The morning of the appointment, I received an invoice in my email. They suggest taking care of it ahead of time as doing it in the moment with so many emotion is harder. I appreciated this detail and was able to get it out of the way. At our scheduled appointment time, Dr. Naun came to our house. She has a calm and peaceful energy to her. She had some further paperwork for me to sign then we started the process. It was peaceful, and of course sad, but Dr. Naun brought comfort to the situation and we're so grateful for a service like this. We chose to have our dog's ashes returned to us and about a week later, we received a beautiful urn and our paw prints. With the service, they have a chaplain who you may access to talk to if you need help. I did not use it but they do also offer at home palliative care.

The price is very reasonable and the pets are allowed to roam all day which I like so that they are not cooped up in kennels for part of the day. My dog is a rescue dog, and he is very shy and I had not had him long when I needed to board him, and I found Deirdre at pampered pets and I cannot say enough good things about her. She is professional, courteous and treats your pets as if they were her own. She goes above and beyond. She kept me updated while I was away with pictures and how he was doing. I cannot recommend pampered pets enough. The office contact is quick and easy, and the price is so reasonable for what you get compared to doggy daycare places on the island. The pets at pampered pets will be in small groups and get the love and care that they deserve. Any time I go out of town, I will use pampered pets/ Deirdre.

Each time we came back from vacation in the past, he was depressed and would hide for 1-2 weeks. When we picked up our baby from Deirdre - he was so cheerful and happy! He had been housed with a cockatiel for company the entire time. He wasn't sad or depressed at all - there was no adjustment period. He seemed eager to tell us all about his new friend and all his good experiences. It was obvious they took excellent care of him and made him feel taken care of and safe. They sent us photo updates on him periodically. We will most definitely be bringing him back to pampered pets each time we go on vacation from now on!

The team at The Pet Clinic has so much aloha and I really wish I found them sooner! The ladies always greets us with a smile and by now they know to cover Frosty (their Cockatoo in the wait area) when I come with my two year old who gets scared of her squawks. I've never waited longer than 10 mins to get into a room. Dr. Harada is the BEST! He makes the visit comfortable and genuinely cares not only about your pet, but you and your family as well. The team as a whole does. Communication is impeccable and I've never felt rushed or afraid to ask a question. They have very accommodating hours. If you are looking for a vet in this area, I HIGHLY recommend The Pet Clinic!

The Vet, Dr Pang, had poor bedside manner. Came in already dismissive of my complaints for my dog. She wasn't prepared when she came in the room. As if she didn't know why I was there. Said she couldn't examine my dogs nostrils because my dog is excited and keeps moving. Said we needed to sedate my dog. Didn't have any light or anything to look at my dogs nose. Some questions/comments she made that were annoying: "Are you sure she's five months old, she seems older cause she's big" "How did you look in your dogs nose?" "She's not sneezing now" "She seems to be breathing normal" (her first time meeting my dog, doesn't know my dog is not a mouth breather) "Did you hear reverse sneezing" (as if i know what that is) I had to get on the floor to help hold my dog so she would look at both nostrils or try to with a light. Also theres an exam table not sure why we're on the floor. She offered very little info into what she thought was going on with my dog. Only discussed further when i kept asking questions. She prescribed a steroid taper but on the bottle the instructions were incorrect did not indicate a taper. Did not appreciate her bedside manner and lack of trying to look at my dog for the issue i brought her in for. Then as i was leaving i got blocked in to the small parking lot by an employee that parked her truck with the bed blocking the way out. That employee came out and saw me unable to leave but waited till i asked her to move the truck to move it. Gets two stars because of the front staff.

Joey was in and out of this hospital through some very serious moments. He had to be induced many times, undergo emergency procedures, and face situations where I truly didn't know if I would get more time with him. And every single time, this team showed up--with skill, urgency, and unwavering dedication. They didn't just treat him... they gave him more life. Because of them, Joey lived to 15 years and 2 months--time I know I wouldn't have had otherwise. That is something I can never repay. But what truly sets this hospital apart is their compassion. Every doctor, every technician, every staff member treated Joey like he was their own. And they treated me with such kindness and patience through every high and every devastating low. When it came time to say goodbye, they handled his final moments with a level of grace and humanity that I will never forget. There was no rush, no clinical coldness--only quiet compassion. They made space for love, for dignity, and for a peaceful goodbye. In the middle of the hardest moment of my life, they created something that felt gentle... and even beautiful. Joey wasn't just a patient there. He was known, he was loved, and he was fought for. And I will be forever grateful to this team for giving me the gift of more time with my boy--and for helping me say goodbye to him in the most compassionate way possible. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart
