Ate here at Kaka Rawand and tried all their kabobs. The chicken kabobs were very juicy and definitely a highlight along with the ground beef kabobs, which felt like an excellent Iraqi-style koobideh. The beef steak kabobs were also very good and while I wasn't a fan of the liver/organ kabobs, they were cooked very well (I'm just generally not a fan). We got the kabobs with these huge, fresh warm circular naans that were amazing but you had to eat quickly or they would crisp up. This is certainly a no frills type of establishment but WOW they are serving up some delicious meats. Dont expect fine dining by any means. You order at the counter, pick up your food and pay afterwards. The tray in the photo I uploaded was $55. Pretty good deal for the amount of meat we got. Everything was delicious too. The kebab, steak and chicken pieces were juicy and seasoned well. Paired with the grilled veggies, pickles and bread...makes a bite from heaven. Comes with a side of tahini and toum sauce. If you blinked your eye you would miss this place. There is a ton of road construction out front and parking is rough. Been there 2x and the customer service isn't the best but the food makes up for it. They make almost everything from scratch and seems like nothing is ever frozen. Hands down one of the most stomach churning dining experiences i've ever had Someone at the city of El Cajon got paid a kickback to give these guys a permit to operate as a restaurant - absolutely disgusting Flies were buzzing everywhere--circling our heads, landing on our drinks, and treating the buffet as their personal playground. Nothing like shooing away insects while trying to eat questionable food .. NO server you have to go pick up your food The chicken was rubbery and the rice taste like crap .. The restroom? A coworker brought some food from here in for a potluck. We were in the area so I stopped by, happy we did. It's a little meat market with alot of parking. Not in the best area but it was daytime so, no big deal. The man said they had no more rice so he gave us some roasted veggies and salad instead. Still worked out good. The beef Kabobs were tasty. We also got the chicken and beef Tikka. Basically a shish kabob chunks of meat and Iraqi spices. Went very well with the nice flatbreads they sell here. Got a beef shawarma for my son and of course I had to take my cut. It was pretty delicious. Overall a great meal for less than $22 and it was a lot of food. I went here for a nice shawarma wrap. There was no menu on the walls and it appeared there was no one really ready for doing business. The fact that it says market seems misnomer. I believe they do prepare large trays of food for catering, but other than that there seems to be no grocer aspect of their trade. In any case, I asked for a shawarma, so they accommodated me, but they gave me something that they described as differing from the usual bread. In any event, the food was good. The service was rather unremarkable but the whole operation gave me the vibe of a small family business trying to get by in a foreign culture. My son went there one day withe his back pack & they first of all made him leave it @ the front. Never met him . Never laid eyes on him before. Treated him like a homeless person which he's not! The he walked around the small astonishment & didn't see what he was looking for. As he went to leave the man @ the counter said, "Whats in your pocket?" My son replied 'YOU MEAN MY WALLET AND CELLPHONE!" & SHOWED HIM. He then left a little upset but let it go.
