Saving grace: once they had my order, the woman who took my blood was nice and found my vein very easily.

But I walked in, got my test done and walked out all in about 15 minutes! Now that is service! The place is super clean and organized. And the technicians are personable and do the "sticking" with nary a pain. And there was no fumbling to find a vein, which is always appreciated. Since the test I was having was a bit out of the ordinary, I liked that they checked in with the hospital to make sure it was being done properly. I just had a little blood drawn, but I would recommend this place for any diagnostic testing that you might need. Plenty of free parking (they even have valet service if you can't make the trip from the parking lot) and it is conveniently located off of Ogden and 1-294 for those of you in the "burbs". Now if they could only get my doctor to run on time!

I arrived 20 minutes before 8am, when doctors start seeing people. The woman at the check in desk (Debra) was very kind and helpful. She took care of everything, told me I was second & directed me where to go. No one was called in until 8:10am. The woman they called in first came after me and the other woman. Then, 3 more people went in (1 being the woman ahead of me & 2 individuals that arrived afterwards). I checked in with the front desk to see why I hadn't been called. Debra inquired. They called me next. The male nurse took my vitals and was friendly. After he left though, I wanted in the room to see a doctor for another 15 minutes. Checked with the desk; they said someone would be in soon and that there was someone with an emergency they had to attend to first. Doctor saw me for 5 maybe 10 mins max. She was nice. I just really hate how long the entire process took and was charge $50 for all that waiting and such short time seeing the provider. Considering I arrived early and was the second in line, this shouldn't taken as long as it did. I get that medical offices are understaffed; however, the fact that people were called in before me who arrived afterwards, that's unfair. Walk ins should be seen according to the order in which they arrived. I'd give this a one star review if it wasn't for the friendliness of the staff.

She wasn't happy with me in general and asked me if I was there for a drug test in a way that suggested to me she thought I was some sort of user. She goes, "so I have to search the database!?!" Anyhow, when I finally got off my stupid and admittedly disruptive I've call, I went in and apologized, complimented her needle work and wished her a nice weekend. She was grumpy. Then it got weird. On my way out, a man was on his way in and looked angry and he was telling me that I "he was there because I was being rude to his girlfriend and that I better apologize." Although I wasn't picture perfect, she musta been having a crazy nuts day to call in the meat head boyfriend. I was pleasant and apologetic to him and walked away. He looked tough. Be aware folks, the blood lady can be crabby and she'll call the bouncer to rough you up if you are out of line.

I suppose that's why I have this over whelming desire to run like Forrest Gump away from any lab that is about to draw my blood. Well, not so fast, Forrest, not so fast. This is the exception that proves the rule. Granted, the office building itself is nothing to write home for. And if you happen to enter in the service entrance, versus the main fancy schmancy lobby, you will think that illegal medical whatever is performed here. But after entering Quest you are met with exactly what you need: calm, quiet, professionalism, and extremely large and comfortable lounge chairs -- that which to more comfortably draw thy blood. I will admit that I get a little fidgety when they put that padded bar in front of you. You never feel the "Great America" theme park feeling. And one should never view it as a way to avoid escape. More importantly, it is there for the utterly exciting possibility (or probability) that you will pass out when the needle goes in: and we wouldn't want to have to go through all of that pretense again, would we? Sylvia (the woman who drew my blood) should get an Olympic medal. And on the off chance that I had fallen over in a dead heap (and we're talking dead) there is not a doubt in my mind that coroner's near and far would never have been able to locate the needle stick. We have seen her once a year or twice a year for three years for my two son's various flu and other injuries. We are so grateful she is there. Please don't leave, Dr Kelly! If every provider were like her, our medical field would be serving all patients SO well. Here's why: She always thinks of everything without me even asking, from meds, to at home things to do, to a school note, without hesitation. She always makes a little bit of small talk with my sons, but it's like she really cares. Bonus: The place is clean, the front desk staff is friendly, calm and efficient. They smile and are efficient and great with insurance and I haven't ever received a crazy bill from them ever. The wait time has never exceeded 15 minutes. We are out within 45 min including payment and lab tests. I am not getting paid by them to say all this stuff LOL haha! I don't know anyone there either....but I just have to call out this example of urgent care DONE RIGHT. Dr Kara's-Hedrick, DNP, please always continue being the best urgent care provider we've seen! Claustrophobic to say the least. These new open MRI machines are really nice. No closed in feeling. Folks at Westbrook Open MRi are great. I got in, waited maybe 5 minutes and was taken back to the MRI room. Got on the table, was slid back into the machine and away we go. My 30 minutes was over in no time. They have lockers for your personal affects while you are having your MRI done. I would definitely recommend Westbrook to anyone needing an MRI. Cheers!

I went for an MRI for my neck at another facility within my medical group a week ago. I've had an…read morean MRI in the past for my knee so I knew what to expect. Here's my experience at the facility within my medical group: I breezed in for my MRI, they place a cage over my neck which snapped into the bed, put headphones on (the procedure is loud), then rolled me in a "tube", my nose was only inches from the wall and it was a bit dark. I'm somewhat claustrophobic, but this was awful, immediate panic attack! I tried for a moment to stay in the tube, then asked the tech to pull me out to catch my breath. I tried it again, the procedure started, but I just couldn't lay there for 20 minutes and asked her to stop and get me out. I was trembling afterwards for awhile, and affected by the whole thing for days including nightmares. I could have asked my Dr for a Valium but that's not for me. I researched online and found Westbrook Open MRI close to me. I went in apprehensively, expecting the experience to be a little better than my last one (I also needed to get the procedure done!). I met with the tech, she was wonderful! She asked questions about my condition leading me to get an MRI, walked me into the MRI room and explained everything and what to expect. The machine is open on the sides, the canopy is still close to your face, but there's a light inside which helps tremendously. She kept asking if I was ok, and gave me tips I could do to feel better. I got thru it and even calmed down while in the procedure. I will definitely go here again if I need to!!
