I value the apology and assistance they provided to enhance our experience. I am very disappointed with Darien Immediate Care. I took my son there due to a shoulder injury and he was taken in for an X-Ray. PA Erin Berman read his x-ray and misdiagnosed him having a broken collarbone and dislocated shoulder and informed us to go to the ER ASAP. When the ER doctor read these same x-rays, I was informed that only my son's collarbone was broken, but his shoulder was not dislocated. However, the ER doctor nevertheless was required to take additional x-rays at this point to confirm the diagnosis that the shoulder was not, in fact, dislocated. Therefore, my son did not need to be rushed to the ER and could've received urgent care for his collarbone with a follow up with an orthopedic doctor. As a result, in addition to what this facility billed us, we incurred additional fees and costs for the ER visit and additional x-rays, and spent additional time agonizing over the injury. Therefore, I requested to speak with the office manager regarding my billing, who promised to call me but never did. When I spoke to the billing department, they refused to transfer me to the office manager or share contact information and refused to adjust my bill in any way. While I have no issue paying for medical services, I do have an issue incurring unnecessary additional fees and costs due to the misdiagnosis. If my son was diagnosed properly in this facility, we wouldn't have had to go the ER and he would walked away with a sling, which is the recommended treatment for a broken collarbone. This is also my second negative experience with this facility. During a prior visit, we saw PA Anum Haq who diagnosed my son with an ear infection; however, PA Anum Haq then failed to timely send the required prescription to the pharmacy, which delayed my son's healing and caused him more pain. I will never go to this facility again, and will share my experience where possible so that other families do not have to incur unnecessary additional expenses when money is already tightly budgeted for most.

I saw Dr. Thakadiyil who is an outstanding provider and after thoroughly examining me, she ordered COVID, flu and RSV tests which have come back negative. Having been here before, she knew my medical history and prescribed inhalers for me and ordered a nebulizer treatment. I left feeling much relieved that I had been examined and had a plan to help. Melissa, the medical assistant, was thorough with her vital checks and made sure I had my printed out summary of care when I left. Great place to go when not feeling well. Never gave my consent to a strep throat test. The kiosk wasn't working that day so I tried to…read moreexplain to the worker that I couldn't check in but she kept rudely interrupting. We were going around in circles because I was trying to tell her I was told to come back but she would not stop talking over me. Seems like out of spite I was charged a strep throat test I never agreed to. My son had a cough for almost a month. It was mild but yet wouldn't go away. Something told me to go somewhere else when I saw that the kiosk wasn't functioning. I did not want to drive out to Oak Park so I decided to stay but that was a bad idea. The idiot who performed the strep throat test was way too rough that ended up hurting my sons throat. He said the pain got worse because he described the pain as a lump in his throat. We walked out with a service that we did not need and in a worse condition. I tried to dispute it with minute clinic but it seems like I'm stuck with the bill because I've been waiting for them to remove it but nothing seems to be done.

This review though is for the practice as a whole. Time and time again over the years, this office seems to have suffered the problem of getting too large, too quickly, without enough resources. When they did their major additions and upgrades it took them months to get things together. The staff was/is over-worked and there was too much traffic at all times. Outside of that transition time hasn't been better. Getting in touch with your doctor is difficult. You have to call, leave a message, and often, even if you ask for the doctor, you get a call back from the nurse. Then you have to go through the whole process of leaving a message and waiting again. The staff and RN's have repeatedly gotten my recurring prescriptions wrong when communicating with the pharmacy, sometimes costing me dearly (I will say that the office has resolved this for me with their in house pharmacy, but I had to almost demand it). Out of all of that, my biggest complaint about the office is the general lack of attention to detail. For example, if my doctor leaves town, I have to TELL the doctor filling in to check my chart. To me this should be standard operating procedure. How can you answer a question of a patient if you haven't reviewed their file? They are too busy, without enough administrative staff, and it shows in the quality of assistance I get when I'm not with my doctor. (I'm surprised there's a hidden review here that says pretty much the same thing. I knew when I came on here that I couldn't possibly be the only person who's noticed this problem creep up over the years)

She is young, probably in her 30s, and just very attentative to me. I've seen doctors in the past who were eager to get you in and out, but Dr. Vaughan takes the time to sit down and listen to what you're going through. My most recent visit was in January '08, the reason I didn't really know. I had had a perpetual throat-clearing/cough for at least a year and I was finally getting it checked out. I did some research, and didn't know if it was allergies, asthma, or GIRD. I went in there, she sat down, and said "This is when I get to be a detective and figure out what's going on with you." I thought that was AWESOME! I was in there for an hour an a half, she was running different tests on me, and we figured out that it's possibly allergy-induced asthma, and definitely some allergy issues. I feel a lot better now that we're getting to the bottom of things, and I would recommend her to anyone! Other notes: I rarely have to wait more than 5 minutes in the waiting area to go into a room, which is great. Nothing worse than going to the doctor's office and having to sit and wait (especially when you have an appointment!).

Well while it's not something I would want to talk about at a…read morecocktail party, when my doctor requested I get one of these, I made sure that where I chose to go took the time to explain the entire thing to me and put me at ease through the entire procedure. Dr. Suman Kaur was terrific. She showed me exactly what it was they were going to be doing and took tons of time to set me at ease and to answer my questions. The stuff they make you drink to "clean you out" is better now too and it didn't bother me half as much as the horror stories I had heard prior to going in. And while I didn't avail myself of it, they will even let you stay awake during the process so you can watch the entire thing on the camera. Otherwise you are in "twilight" which was just fine by me! From the anesthesia staff, to the doctor to the staff that makes sure you get all the "air out" (trust me there's a funny story there as they don't let you leave until you do!) this place did a nice job on a subject that is the "Butt" of many a joke!

Over the years, Dr. Brooks and the entire practice have cared for all four of our children, as well as my wife and me. Having this practice in our hometown has been an incredible asset for our family and for the entire community. The care feels personal and attentive--almost like a concierge practice--yet it still has the warmth and accessibility of a true small-town family doctor. On more than one occasion, our family has received care that we truly believe was life-saving, and we are incredibly grateful. We've also heard many similar stories from others in the community whose families have been helped in the same way. Dr. Brooks and the entire team clearly see their work as more than just a profession. They treat patients with genuine compassion, dedication, and a sense of purpose. Our family feels very fortunate to have them in our lives and in our community.

I saw Dr. Brooks for almost the entirety of my life up until I was in my early 20s. In 2016, I went…read moreto him with a sinus infection. I am allergic to several medications, and have numerous adverse reactions. Yet, he decided to prescribe me a new drug, Levaquin. Even though, he knew that the only medication I did not have a reaction to was a Zpack. Levaquin is now known for horrific adverse reactions, and is involved in several class actions. I had a horrific, terrifying reaction to Levaquin. I was transported to the ER. I stopped seeing Brooks regularly and began seeing other doctors. Years later (2021) I went to obtain my records to show a new primary my adverse reaction to this medication. To my surprise, there was no documentation of the adverse reaction, or that I was prescribed this medication at all. I went to see Brooks after the ER visit, that was not in there either. I specifically requested these documents for this adverse reaction. There was another incident in 2018, too. In my desperation for help, I reached out to Brooks (after not seeing him for a very long time). I was getting ready to take the bar (I am a lawyer) and I started having horrific panic attacks. I couldn't step outside my apartment without having a panic attack. I went to Brooks in tears asking if he could help me, and I even asked for a prescription for Xanax to help with the panic attacks. Instead he said he would prescribe me Prozac. He prescribed me either 60mg or 90mg of Prozac (I can't remember which one). When I went to the pharmacy to fill the prescription, the pharmacist asked me how long I was on the medication. I told her this was my first time filling - she told me that my doctor shouldn't have prescribed me this, that he should have started me off at 5mg. She said she'd still fill it. I was desperate and I stupidly trusted the prescription. At that point in time, it was a miracle I was even able to get to a pharmacy without a panic attack. I took the medicine and went off of it within three weeks. It was excruciating. While I think everyone's medical treatment is private, I hope this helps someone and I'm sorry I didn't post sooner. After spending time with my family during the holidays and realizing several were still seeing this doctor/going here, but never heard what I went through, I thought it best to share so people could make informed decisions.
