It's very concerning the owner of this particular Anytime Fitness, Sian, wrote a review for the gym below.
It saddens me to write this review but beware of working here or 'working out' here as the owner, Sian. will lie about what members say, or do. For example, Sian lied that club members were 'always watching', 'complaining' and 'taking private photos of me' (without consent). After further questioning and upset, regarding how this violated my boundaries, Sian lied that 'her uncle' had actually been the one to take creepy pictures of me (without consent) when I was in the small gym office (with some expectation of privacy inside a private office). It may be technically 'legal' or grey area to have her family members take photos of others, without consent, but taking photos of people in the gym, and employees, certainly lacks any decorum or respect for others (or her employees).
Sian will also text you at all hours, when you are not at work, and berate employees and/ or accuse them of doing things, which are not true. She yells and accuses, first, but asks questions later.
Ruling by fear and intimidation might not be the best way to run a gym, Sian. I have worked at many gyms and private personal training studios, over the years, and never have I encountered such an unprofessional and rude gym owner.
Additionally, she refers to employees of the gym as 'her workers' which explains some of this attitude.
Also, my paychecks were always short. One payday, she supposedly 'forgot' to input my extra hours for two whole weeks -- questionable, as those two weeks were weeks I was working extra and filling in for her, while she was out of town. It is very odd how she made the schedule and went by the that same schedule she makes, to count employee hours, yet forgot to input my hours? Yet, if I ever needed to leave early, or come in a little later, due to an appointment, she never 'forgot' to deduct this time...I was shorted on every single paycheck and felt very under appreciated no matter how hard I tried -- it was never enough for her.
Furthermore, I was exploited at this job. There were two times she requested I do work for her, outside of my scheduled hours, and she did not pay me for my time. I think, she felt entitled for me to run personal errands for her -- for free? I still might report this to the department of labor, as that is pretty egregious and she refused to correct cutting my hours again, on my last paycheck, after I quit (due to her unprofessional behavior on many levels).
Besides all this, Sian was trying to convince me to take in her elderly mother-in-law as a 'renter' in my home, (because she was sick of her in her own home), and then proceeded to tell me the going rate of rent (much lower than I could get) and that I should accept her offer. I found this beyond presumptive, rude, thoughtless and yet another example of Sian attempting to exploit me, her own employee... read more
